I tried so hard to be impartial as an Englishman but those judges must have been terrified that they wouldn't leave the arena alive so they gave it to Joshua for the sake of their families. Cammarelle clearly won.

Amazing? Are you out of your mind? It was a lackluster fight between two slow and overweight boxers, both of which were desperately lacking in technique, and cardio. Their footwork was absent. They were loading up on shots, and a lot of those shots were missing, wildly. They were exhausted after a mere 3 rounds. If you think either of these fighters are amazing, then you set yourself a low bar. 3 round Olympic fights are a tease, and that's the extent of Cammarelle boxing career. I have a hard time taking any fighter seriously, that also happens to be a full grown man beating up on young amateurs. He's basically a career amateur. That's one of the problems I see with boxing programs in countries with certain socialized sports, like Italy. It's that way in Cuba as well, but at least the Cubans know how to box. Moreover, the best of them make an effort to go pro, doing so at great risk. On the other hand, Robert Cammarelle could easily turn pro, with far less hurdles to jump. He could test himself his mettle in a 12 round fight, but instead, he going to gripe about a "robbery" which was actually much closer than he would like to admit.

@@jolleyolley1204 It's because he was in the "The Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro" , which is the sport section of the Italian police force "Polizia di Stato". They don't allow boxers to go pro, you can only fight in the Olympics. Unless you leave the group/quit your job

Tell that to Roy Jones Jr, he was blatantly robbed in Korea 1988 final, they gave the decision to the Korean he fought who even admitted himself that he didn't win the fight, Roy Jones dominated him but still lost because he was an American fighting a Korean in Korea.

I don't get joshua he is soo like bipolar I guess. He says tyson's fight against klitchko hit and run was boring and saying he doesn't respect that type of fighting........but then AJ tries doing the same thing...not just to a guy his own size but to a short stocky doughnut that put on an extra stone. Like THAT is what you call boring. Not only that he was jabbing and grabbing for a lot of the fight 😂😂😂. He's gone into that ring to win the belts he won back, not to have a scrap just to please a few people. If you understand boxing in any way you'll know that his performance showing a different side to his boxing, light on his feet and the speed of his shots at the weight he is, just shows what a good boxer he is!

olympic boxing is not scored on rounds.... so, your concept of 2 rounds to 1 clearly indicates that you do not grasp that. The total points for each round are simply added together...result..18 to 18. a draw. So, the rule is, countback comes into play.

Life isnt fair, bankers robbed the whole world.....that is a much bigger cheat to be worried about. Its history, it has happened before and it will happen again in every olympics...and every world cup football competition too. Big money is at stake and you expect fairness...how about politics?

it's nice to see how Joshua has come on as a boxer since the olympics. He has come on leaps and bounds with his training camp as he is more diciplined and definately not as irratic picking his shots these days. If he carries on the way he is I can see him becoming a heavyweight hall of fame boxer and after watching his interview footage, with the right guidance and camp around him, I cannot see him not achieving this accolade in the future.

If you look at the whole fight its still a clearly bad decision as the shouldve been up by more than 3 before the 3rd. I mean honestly he couldve been up by the double and still lost on countback so it didnt rly matter. AJs olympic path was set before the tournament started.

It's by points which can be scored by head or body shots, as well as knock downs. Joshua scored 3 points in the last round more than the Italian. You may be able to find the exact rules on the official olympics page.

Just watched this fight for the first time. I think I can now better understand how Joshua seemed to totally run out of gas against Klitschko at about round 4. He recovered of course, but at one point I thought he had gone. As for the Olympics fight it looked fairly even, but Joshua had some better combinations. The Italian fighter did not look convinced he had won anyway.

Whenever you feel that this fight undermines Joshua's talent and potential, just remember that Roberto Cammarelle was an olympic medalist 4 years before Joshua ever walked into a boxing gym and put on his first pair of gloves. Consider also, that Joshua beat Cammarelle 1 year prior to this olympic bout as well at the WC. Speaks volumes for me.

Round 1: Italy Round 2: Split Round 3: GB Remember, the Olympics isn't about who looks best or most likely or judges preferred style, but scoring shots and over all it was quite even throughout the fight. That's why even going into to last round there was only 3 points difference.

Having any sport decided by judges is asking for trouble whether amateur or professional. There will undoubtedly be human errors and corruption at times. Olympic boxing shouldnt be decided by people. It should be measured properly somehow and the one with the most landed punches wins, simple as that. Having said that I believe this fight was a very close call and could have gone either way. Joshua beat cammarelle the previous year in another close fight.

Anyone who thinks Joshua should not have won is deluded. It's based on clear hits. The Italian did not land enough punches. He was 3 points clear going into the last round. Clear British victory.

I'm fan of Joshua ,but this time i have to say he won my village and schoolmate Cammarelle.Ciao.

Nobody cheated. Judges ruled. It was in 2012 UK, not early 80's cold war USSR or USA. Now if you want to talk about cheating at the olympics. Have a look at USA, China, Russia, Korea. Watch Roy jones in his olympic final and you will see real cheating.

Jason Chatto man is the same thing. They robbed Dhyskco, Savon and Cammarelle. Make the hooligan if you want. But you would have to listen what the AM boxers said all the times about these Olympic games (not only for this division)

Even first round, dominant second by the italian and i think Joshua just edges the third. Overall the Italian was the better fighter but Joshua clearly showed a lot of raw potential, which is proven by the fact Joshua is now a world champion.

Dillian Whyte did a pretty good job. Even though Breazeale made it to round 7, he was more of a punching bag. I'd like to see him box against Deontay Wilder. Let's have that match first, and then we'll see if he's as good as most of us think he is.

Im not even sure if Joshua won 1 round in this fight. Pure Robbery Joshua got Outclassed and easily outboxed. What a shame, Italian Clearly Won.

I'm a Joshua fan but have never considered him an Olympic gold medalist- he clearly lost this bout and knew it too.

Remembered this performance live.

What's really ironic is this is actually more exciting than the professional heavyweight division.

Non sono d'accordo, Cammarelle non mi è piaciuto per niente, e non capisco chi si ostina a dire che il verdetto sia ingiusto, perché guardandolo per la prima volta non mi sorge neanche lontanamente il dubbio che il verdetto fosse sbagliato.

Not an expert but looked to me like the Italian won the first two rounds and the Brit the last. Is it scored on rounds? If so, the Italian should have won. Good fight though, very entertaining!

Amir khan would beat them both, and no Pakistanis and Indians don't look alike, they're genetically different proven by genetics, and go look up the facial differences between north and south Indians and then look up some Kashmiri photos on google, they look really different from Indian people, only some minor group of Indians have some resemblance to Pakistanis in the northern parts.

This obviously never EVER happens in other countries right? It wasn't as if this was an onslaught by the italian, maybe he was slightly better but thats why it was a draw with the end result going to the better man, the man who is now one of the best boxers in the world today. He did win the last round by a wide margin jabs don't count and punches must be made with the face and the punch must be made with the white part of the glove

I’m British and in my opinion the Italian defiantly won.

AJ did have the rub of the green in some of these bouts. For me though, he is the chosen one. This was fate playing its hand. He is the best heavyweight around, with the best attitude, and he will be undisputed champion. Got to give it to Camarillo though. Without any losses to them in the amateurs he has beaten Hrgovic, Yoka twice, Erislandy Savon, Joyce, Pulev twice, David Price 3 times, and Oscar Rivas. Of the recognisable names he has never beaten.. there’s only Povetkin who he lost to 4 times, and Joshua who has beaten him twice.

Watching this back. Yeah! AJ won fair and square.
