Career best? How?? Go back and watch his Klitchko fight, throwing hard shots the entire fight. Chisora, Usyk, Fury, Whyte, Wilder, they've all got styles. AJ had a style, but it was taken from him because as the competition increased, he realized that sometimes he would have to go 12 rounds. He has earned his respect. In my opinion, which doesn't count for anything, he should have been on it from round 1, gone out there to hurt Usyk and get the job done. If you gas out and get pieced up fine, but repeating the first contest didn't work, it wouldn't work a second time. Take the risk to get the rewards. Chisora went in against Usyk and yeah sure he didn't make it but look at what he did to him. Came out with bad intentions and if Chisora can do that, AJ should have been thinking, I can do that, but better

I feel that I agree with Leon with AJ not giving his 100%. You both talked about how he wasn’t really feeling it and was more conservative in the way he approached the fight due to sticking with the gameplan. Hence, AJ holding back in a sense. But I do get what Viddal is saying about AJ giving his all to the game-plan he had been given. Good analysis of how things transpired on that night and always learning something new whether it is to do with boxing or character in real life.

Good Podcast. One thing I want to add to a point you made about Usyk's cardio and the fact that his punches don't look to be thrown with alot of power is that it has a lot to do with the gloves he is wearing. If Usyk were to wear some padded Winning or Grant gloves he would struggle, Joshua or any Heavyweight would be able to have more success walking him down. Usyk wears horse hair Rival gloves, now these have little to no padding and you can actually feel the knuckle through the glove, with these gloves you don't need to throw the punches with alot of venum, your still going to feel it and it will hurt.

@@insidescuff They are allowed. Horse hair gloves are controversial because of their lack of padding and the damage they can cause so they are not approved by all boxing commissions, in this instance it was fine to use horse hair gloves. The danger for a fighter choosing to use horse hair gloves is that the lack of padding could quite easily lead to them breaking their hand so it can also work against you if you choose to use them. All gloves must be approved by a commission and weigh the specified amount, for the AJ - Usyk fight that was 10 ounces.

Cant lie I have to say, whilst Viddal is saying he didn’t get a chance to feel who he is in the ring. I think it’s all down to AJ’s personality and he doesn’t have the ability to display self expression. Even in his interviews his answers are robotic just like his fighting style. And I’m certain he suffers from a level of social anxiety hence why he’s pretty much always failed under the bright lights/big stage a la Ruiz and it seems like he worries/has a negative mindset, he worries he’ll burn out and worries he’ll get countered. Which comes out in a cautious fighting style. I think he needs a therapist if anything. I watched an interview of Isaac chamberlain on Chisolifts talking about how some boxers perform better when there’s no cameras, and though AJ has gotten to a good destination, something tells me he performs better when there’s no cameras, hence ppl saying he was knocking out sparring partners. I might be going too deep or nitpicking, but everything seems like an anxiety issue more than anything, so all in all he needs to find a way to get out of his mental cage, that’s when you’ll see him loosen up and take chances. I think once I see him get KO’ed I’ll know he really committed to a punch he’s thrown and really being him, caution-less

I don’t think he truly understood that, in both fights, it couldn’t go to the judges. Like everyone else knew he wouldn’t win by decision except him

Much love and respect to Usyk for being a hero to his country. AJ went into full Femi mode over the fight, he tried but Usyk was always a step ahead of him. Usyk is an all time great and is up there with Mayweather and Ward. As one of the best fighters that's come out of the past 20 years.

AJ did quite well in the fight, I could ALMOST see a draw scorecard but how anyone actually scores it for AJ is beyond me. That was Usyk 8 rounds to 4 for me, easy. But the post-fight stuff is unacceptable, whilst I did appreciate he at least said nice things about Usyk, he really took away from a victory parade & a moment for Usyk just to throw a little temper tantrum. And throwing the belts on the ground, storming off only to come back in, taking the Ukrainian flag... I don't know how people didn't just step in and tell him to grow up and take the loss on his chin.

Aj just doesn't let his hands go enough for me. He let's usyk stay in his rhythm, let's him reset, doesn't follow up when he lands a shot and let's usyk respond. It's like he doesn't want it .

Everyone blaming everyone other than AJ. That was one of the best performances I’ve seen from AJ and I believe his corner had told him the right game plan too. He simply fell short of better opposition
