Anthony Bourdain Cooks Sunday Gravy With Sausage And Rigatoni | TODAY

Celebrity chef and author Anthony Bourdain returns to TODAY to talk about “Appetites,” his new, family-inspired cookbook, and to demonstrate his Sunday gravy recipe, a classic meat sauce with rigatoni. Bourdain tells Savannah Guthrie the recipe is simple enough for “a college stoner in a dorm” to throw together.

In every Bourdain interview I've seen, the interviewer seems extremely engaged and impressed by Bourdain. You don't see that a lot. Sure, there are interviewers who seem star struck, but with Bourdain they always have a deep sense of respect and admiration for him. He had something very special about him and it's so sad that he suffered so much mentally and could not enjoy how talented and charismatic he was. I wish he could have realized how much he positively impacted so many people around the world so that he would know that taking his own life would be such a waste of an amazing life and hurt a lot of people for decades. RIP man, you're really missed.

He was battling some gnarly demons, and I think he may have been addicted to a bad drug. Some people overdose, I guess he didn't have it in him to do that. So he took a rope. I don't want to believe it. Something in me says he was setup. He had a daughter, and a beautiful girlfriend. I don't think he committed suicide, and I think the people who knew him the most, are scared to say anything.

I was almost cringing, assuming it's a habit, which on second thought, it's likely not. He likely did it because it's what he had. Gordon Ramsey cut his finger on Ellen Degeneres once and kept working. No way he would have done that or allowed that in a kitchen...right to first aid, for health reason...what customer wants food served to them by a bleeding cook? Besides, I doubt it's even legal health code wise. But, on TV, it's all about going with the flow.
