Thanks for making this video. I'm building a Plex/NAS server, and it is hard to find reasonably priced cases with sufficient room/cages for rotational drives. In case anyone else is in the same boat as me, the other cases I considered were: * Antec P101 (this case, and what I ended up buying) * Cooler Master N400 - the cheapest one I looked at, but had some real negatives, like no room at the top for cable routing. Evidently getting the CPU power into the motherboard is an enormous hassle. * Fractal Design Define R5 - this was my 2nd place choice Ultimately for me, the Antec is a larger case overall than the Define R5 (62L instead of 54L), but I'm guessing either one will work well.

The all black P180 is still going strong as my recording studio system, but I'm actually looking to build an updated system and I'm loving this one. I wanted to P110 but honestly, the big drive caddies in this case are the real draw for me because of how much I love my 180.

Thanks for the vid. Looking at a case that can hold a stack of 3.5 hdds. Looking at dumping it near the main tv to run plex, big box and have access to some steam titles for some good ol fashioned couch gaming. Looking like a good case that will fit the bill nicely. Cheaper than some of the others I was looking at.

I love this case and currently using it as a home server. The only issue I have is trying to find a similar cage to make it a 10-bay drive. I might have to give up on that and make a 4-bay 2.5 inch SSD instead using the two back area and the 5.25 inch via a bracket.

Does the P101 still have big silicon rubber grommets to mount the disks? I have 2 P100s and they effectively isolate the disk vibrations from the case. The disk caddies are constructed differently on the P101 compared to the P100.

  • @PCCrazyDario

The caddy has some rubber parts, but the actual mounting of the HDDs as I can recall, doesn't. I tried searching more details on the web, but couldn't find them unfortunately. Sorry.

@@PCCrazyDario Thanks. Maybe they insulated the whole caddy to the chassis instead of the disk to the caddy? I tried several different cases and the Antec Solo and P100 were the only ones to prevent disk vibrations from making the whole chassis resonate.

@@tgkhfgkr9729 Maybe they did, even though if that is the case, the vibration is between the HDD and the bracket since there is no rubber between those two. I honestly can't remember.

Is the front door meant to be open while the machine is running for the airflow to work properly?

  • @PCCrazyDario

Nope, should be closed. But of course you will get a better air flow with an opened front panel.

Bleh, is there any way to mod it so the bottom dust filter can be pulled out from the front ?

  • @PCCrazyDario

    @PCCrazyDario

Unfortunately I don't think so, unless you want to cut the front panel. If you are a pro in modding, you could make it look nice, but otherwise you could destroy the case. Also, can't remember where the STOP hindges are for the dust filter, so those might need some modding as well to get the reverse pull from the front.

If you had HDDs in front or at least the cages, then it makes sense. But regardless, the openning on the front is to small to create an good intake for the air flow for that GPU unfortunately.

Comparing prices, ANTEC wins. Comparing storage capacity, ANTEC wins. Comparing build quality (material and final finish), Fractal wins. Comparing modularity, Fractal wins. Comparing amount of fans, ANTEC wins. Comparing possibility to adjust fan speeds on the go, ANTEC wins. Comparing airflow because of the front panel, Fractal wins. Hope that explains a bit.

  • 2 жыл бұрын

@@PCCrazyDario Agreed, except in storage, because even though the R6 only comes with 6 HDD caddys you can expand it to 11 so it also wins there, and as for the price, if you go with the non-tg version it brings it down to a 10€ difference, at least in my country.

  • @PCCrazyDario

@ Maybe there is a chance to buy additional cages for P101 as well, because there is room to add 2x more at the top if you remove the 5.25" bracket. i mean, I can't argue about Fractal. Those cases are great without a doubt, don't get me wrong.
