Antari Z-350 Fazer/Hazer Review | It just works!

After having hazer after hazer die on me from Chauvet to ADJ... I decided to stop screwing around and get an Antari. Trust me when I say I will never buy anything but an Antari again...

Gator makes a case that happens to fit it perfectly. Titan series 18x13x6.9. Smaller, lighter, a little cheaper, but still super solid.

The Antari Z350 is a great machine. I've seen 4 of them fill a15,000 seat arena with haze for Boxing (I was running camera for the telecast and heard the Director ask if they could turn down the haze a bit as it was starting to get a little thick). Like you I've had other makes that just don't last long and guzzle fluid. My original Antari machine (and still have) was the Z380 (discontinued) and it just sips fluid. It's smaller than the Z350, has the same size tank and I love it. But a couple of years ago Antari USA had an open house (they're about 5 min from my home) and had a demo model of the Z390 at a great price so I jumped on it. It was a great investment. It's kind of a beefed up Z380. Heavier with a slightly larger footprint, but rather than having to refill a 1.3 liter tank, when you're low on fluid you just pull out the old 4 liter jug and drop in a new one. No muss no fuss. I run it using DMX at it's lowest setting (it's not a big venue) once a week for about 5 hrs straight. At that rate of use a 4 liter jug is lasting about 6 to 7 months even with an occasional use at larger venues.

Love my z350, seen a lot of touring guys come through with them. I have had mine for 2 years and never had any problems till I ran a different brand of haze fluid through it, even then all I had to do was run a lil distilled water and distilled vinegar through it and it runs like a champ. I know you said you personally don't like to run it wide open, but I have done gigs with mine out in 115 degree heat and ran it all day, this thing just takes it. My only issue with it is how loud it is, and its not really a huge deal it just makes some clicking noises I haven't heard other hazers do. All in all 4/5.

I use Haze fluid and it's just dynamite. My question is, Can I transport it in other positions than upright (on it's side, back)? In a truck pack, it's a pain. Can it be stored on it's side too?

Hey mate... I have a fog machine, which we all know doesnt linger in the atmosphere. Its gone in 3-5 seconds. So with a Fazer, does is stay on in the air for long like a Hazer (depending on how you time it), or a Hazer be a better option? Thanks. Mans

An oil based hazer is the absolute best for hanging in the air and making beams of light visible without creating a white haze. But oil based over time will leave oily residue on everything so I would never buy one ever again. A fazer will do essentially the same thing but it is just thin fog so there is a slight white haze in the air but the fazer runs constantly. So you always have just a slight white haze in the air to see your lights. A fazer really is the best option even tho the effect isn't quite as good as oil based. Some concert venues won't allow oil based haze because of the oil residue. Water based only.

Hi, are there any filmmakers here that have links to any project where you used a fazer? Since it uses fog fluid, is a fazer exactly as using a smoke machine, but you don't have to wave the air around to kill its texture. Do all Fazer's smell in comparison to hazers?

Interestingly I just rented this fazer to a guy making a music video. He was a bit disappointed. He said it just made the room hazy. Lol I'm not sure what exactly he was going for but I told him if he wanted a plume of smoke he would need a fog machine.

I see mixed reviews on the noise level. What's your thoughts on how loud they are? Would have been nice if you ran it for a bit along with your thoughts on it.

Noise level on the Z-350 or HZ-350? The Z-350 is water based and uses heat and a fan. The fan noise isn't loud at all. The HZ-350 is oil based and makes a compressor sound. I've had hundreds of hours of runtime on it without any issues or weird noises.

Sorry I'm really new to Hazer, so two really silly questions : Once the liquid is in the machine can I leave it inside between different use ? and secondly what do I need to do to clean the machine after use? Thanks

  • @TheAngrySoundTech

Yes, you can leave it in the machine. But I would make sure it runs at least once a month for 15 minutes or so just to make sure it doesn't get gummed up. I clean mine with vinegar but you can buy cleaning solution. Just make sure if you use vinegar that you flush haze fluid back through it to get the vinegar out of the machine.

Hey @theangrysoundtech I’ve seen your other videos talking about the haze machine that soaked your lights in oil. I really want to buy an oil based machine for our stage lighting inside our house. It’s a two story house and I don’t want to set off the smoke detectors that use IR sensors. I know I won’t need a lot of fluid to fill the room and I’ll probably use it a couple times a month. Do you think I can get by with a real haze machine in a house, I just don’t like the smell of water based fluid and I don’t want to smoke out the house. But I don’t want oil dripping down the walls lol. I think it would be okay with how seldom we would actually use it and it will hang longer so that’s even better. What do you think about my situation?

Otherwise I think I’ll buy a z350 fazer. The oil based I’m looking at is the adj entour pro or antari hz350.

Antari FLG-4 is the recommended fluid. It is what I use. I'm sure you could use any water based fog or haze fluid. You would not want to use oil based haze fluid.

Really depends on the venue and how they have their smoke alarms tuned. I would never use it in a school or hotel without permission but in bars I've never had a problem.
