About On Cinema:
On Cinema is Adult Swim's finest authority on film, comparable to the great French film magazines in both content and depth. Host Tim Heidecker (of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!) and recurring guest Gregg Turkington illuminate which of the latest films are must-see's, which are unofficial sequels to unrelated films, and which aren't worth your time on a scale of one-to-five bags of popcorn. The coveted five bags of popcorn might not be given out easily, but that's kind of the point. See every episode of this enriching talk show now at AdultSwim.com.

What’s even better is how Tim has appeared in movies and specifically not tied them to On Cinema. He was in Us during season…..9 I think? And they said maybe they’d tie it in somehow if he ended up actually going to the Oscar’s but they didn’t and he was too good in that movie so it doesn’t exist in the On Cinema Universe. And I love that because it really would ruin the immersion of this arms race between two bad actors.

The show mostly exists in its own alternate universe and isn't really concerned with actual commentary on movies, but I have to think leaving Mad Max: Fury Road off the list of "Summer Movies that deserve 5 bags" is an actual deliberate joke, like they ignore what everyone regarded as the best movie of the summer because they're that lousy.

Gregg should have done the decent thing and recused himself from reviewing Fantastic Four because, as a friend of Tim Heidecker who acted in the movie he clearly is too close to the production. One could theoretically say the same about Tim but in fact his review was accurate: it was a straight 6-bagger and it's great to get an insight from someone so closely involved with the craft of the movie. Great review from Tim and Fantastic Four joins that elite pantheon of films to receive 6 bags of On Cinema popcorn: the highest possible rating reserved only for instant classics.

Tim planned for Gregg to bring his video tape collection to Hawaii just so he could burn them, thereby making more room in the apartment, and pass it off as being used for the plot of Decker. He's the "fan" who tipped Gregg off about the video shop getting rid of their VHS tapes. Now Gregg has somewhere to go (a storage unit) while Tim and his family have annexed his apartment. It is both a disgusting and brilliant plan.

At 4:57 Tim uses the word "affair". He has chosen this word very carefully, as a nod to "The Affairs of Cappy Ricks", a bit of foreshadowing to future seasons.

I am glad that the buffs are back, but...same as it ever was. Tim has absolutely NO ethics. He's seen as a dishonest film critic by reviewing a film he PAID to be in. He's also already breaking rules agreed upon by him and Gregg. He needs to shut up about his boring life and he absolutely CANNOT give six bags of popcorn to any movie, especially one he PAID to be in. Gregg, on the other hand, continues to be a bastion of film criticism and movie expertise. I really wish we had Our Cinema instead of On Cinema. It's what us true movie fans need and deserve right now.

That's so right of you to say that about Josh Trank. When Tim gave his shout out to Josh, most of us were flat out mesmerized. Frozen in place. Couldn't move for a little while due to the profound love and magical moment that Tim made possible with that authentic non-scripted tip of the hat to John Trunk. A lot of us were reminded of Will Ferrill's character in Old School. It was like we'd shot ourselves in the neck with a Trankulizer dart at our some kid's backyard swimming pool birthday party.

While I do agree with Tim's fair criticism of the Ant Man movie, I do feel that he was a bit a harsh in rating it one stale popcorn. In my humble opinion, Ant Man deserves at least a little bit if sprinkle of salt, just a tinge of flavor, as it does have some redeeming qualities.
