    Great video. When you were talking about VPN’s you said that you were tethered to your phone. By tethered do you mean that you were using your iphone as a hotspot? If so, is there was way to improve the performance of your IPhone’s hotspot? I get better performance on an open WIFI than I do from my IPhones hotspot. Thanks

    Great question. There are others in the US you can consider (such as Innovis), and if you’re outside the US there may be country- or region-specific bureaus, but if you can at least cover the big 3, you should be good. Worth a deeper explanation, though. Thanks, Sean!

    I've been trying to lock as many of my accounts down with Yubikeys and making backups has been pretty difficult in some cases, because many of my accounts don't allow me to set up more than one. For most other accounts, I have the backup codes, but still... I even ordered two keys with the idea of having a backup, but my second key would only be of limited use if I lost my primary.

  • @AllThingsSecured

    @AllThingsSecured

    That's disappointing if an account allows for 2FA keys but only gives you the ability to set up one. I'll ask Yubico about that. If you haven't seen, I have an upcoming webinar with one of their engineers and I'll bring this up. Check it out here: www.allthingssecured.com/webinar

    I have a couple of thoughts. How to get your spouse to use a password manager? Purposely create accounts that you have to share like Josh discussed. Now about tethering to your phone. Honestly i trust the cell carries (at least in the US) about the least. I connect to a vpn as soon as i connect to the cellular network. They have been caught purposely selling your data. I don't worry when i connect to financial sites (& other secure things) when connected to even public wifi. Unless what financial product is REALLY bad they are going to be using SSL & you will be protected thats unless the public wifi makes you do something crazy like install a Cert (so they can decrypt your SSL) don't worry.

  • @AllThingsSecured

    @AllThingsSecured

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback here. My advice for tethering vs public WiFi is also taking into consideration different MITM attacks that are a risk. If you don't trust your cell carrier, I would still personally bypass the public network and connect to a VPN on my cellular network.

    do you think Microsoft edge is decent for privacy if I disable to telemetry I can disable, use an ad blocker, use a tracker blocker, and using more privacy focus search engine? I tried brave and fire fox but brave has the crypto stuff built-in which turns me off, and fire fox has been going downhill lately, I tried on googled chromium but I couldn’t connect to the chrome web store, and chrome is, chrome, I think most of you know why I didn’t consider chrome lol, I also don’t have a hide thread profile, I’m just a average person

    Hmm...I know this might not be a satisfying answer, but it "just depends". I think everybody needs to work towards privacy, but how much so? There's only so much you can do with friends/family (i.e. migrating to a new messaging app), but there's plenty you can do to protect your personal privacy that's worth doing.

    I knew a group of students who all switched to a different messaging service because of 1 student not being on fb some people value other's preferences and some people don't it also depends on how people-pleasing you're, a lot of people don't respect the preferences of people-pleasers so unless the individual is very strong-willed from the the get go to not conform, others just won't budge to accommodate the individual

    Josh, I think machine learning tools might be our next security and privacy threat. Neural network software might be the new tool in the kit of scammers and identity thieves and I think a lot of people aren't aware of the tectonic shift that has silently and swiftly exploded on society, and those that are aware have no way of knowing the ramifications and possibilities. Already Chat-GPT has learned to cooperate with Wolfram Alpha to become a team that is greater than the sum of the parts.

  • @AllThingsSecured
