The scariest day of my life was on my kayak on Lake Michigan. No safety shortcuts. Great Vid Michael

Thanks for answering my (Scott) question. It does sound pretty exciting, and I can relate to the challenge aspect. I love a good adventure and I can see where big fish from a kayak would fill that need. Thanks again for answering, and also be becoming one of my favorite pages to follow for salmon, even though I'm not a 'yaker.

Thanks Scott and I’d say there a lot of parity between kayak and small boats so much of the info works for both sides with some exceptions

I guess the level of parity between our 2 methods never crossed my mind, but it does explain why I like your content, along with your way of sharing your knowledge. Good observation there.

I'm new to salmon fishing. I have a small boat and am starting to aquire gear. I too went with a FishHawk TD this year and like it so far.

Lots of good info as always! I will give my take on downrigger though... Im pedal drive as you know and love my downrigger! Running a scotty 1050, having clutch instead of the cheap knob tension like the scotty laketroll is key. Also running the new Fishhawk lithium probe and loving it, probably a bit overkill from the Fishhawk TD that i also have but super cool to have all the info

Kind of a long shot, but I wonder if you know anything about the Door County area? I've been trying on the bay side without success these past couple weeks, even after watching all these videos I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing lol.

Definitely don’t run dipseys on a Pdl kayak. They really need that constant pull. If you slow down they sink like rocks

A lot of great questions, very informative. On the torpedo weight what size do you use? Thanks Tim

Thanks Tim. I run either the 8 or 12oz. If I’m fishing first 30’ of water column I use 8oz. If going deeper than 30’ I got with 12oz or even 16oz round ball weight

Can you run flasher/fly combo off leadcore? I might have to get into running torpedos

Is there a wave 🌊 height you don’t go out in or will force you to to return to shore?

Kinda of depends. If the water is low soup bowl with waves coming from all directions I won’t go or I’ll get off. If it’s just 2/3’ rollers every few seconds I’d still fish. If it’s 2’+ with white caps it’s a no for me

Not too much. There’s a chance to get one but the numbers of fish are offshore now

You can but it won’t be at the depth you think it would be at because of all the drag from the flasher.
