From someone old enough to be your granny a couple of times over George, you are an amazing man. I had a boyfriend when we were both 28 and I was his FIRST girlfriend. He was amazing in all ways and my impression of you is that you’re very much like him. You’re smart to not be rushing into anything meanwhile achieving all kinds of good things. Thanks for sharing so much of your private life and btw I, as many of your comments indicate, also find your voice, accent and mannerisms exceedingly relaxing.

I think the autism question came up because you have the vibe of a quiet, kind person who had a dedicated interest that seemed to involve being alone for long periods. I am on the spectrum and know lots of other people who are from grad school (which is an Asperger’s magnet). They are generally (but not exclusively) introverted, kind, and have strong interests that they often do alone. It can feel lonely to be on the spectrum so when we see a public figure we like, who has some of those characteristics, we wonder if they are “like us.” If so, it can be a self esteem boost to know that someone whose work we enjoy is in the same complicated, sometimes lonely boat. But it’s also fine that you aren’t, I like your channel just as much of course :) It’s just nice to see others out in the wild sometimes :)

Yeah I get this too. First thing I thought was that he may be on the spectrum tbh, not at all a bad thing. I myself am autistic and was diagnosed at 23. Sometimes people can go their entire lives remaining 'undetected' by heavily masking their autism. Also many of my mental health issues (social anxiety, depression, ADHD) were all linked to my autism and in my opinion precursors to the eventual ASD diagnosis. I understand that he struggles a lot with his phobia and anxiety so it's possible, but we can't really assume I guess.

Hi, George. Wow, I didn't expect you to pay any attention to my question. Thank you so much for taking time and showing respect for complete strangers. That's impressive. My conjecture was because you have a quaint/quirky and at the same time endearing way of expressing yourself, because you never try to make an impression or win your viewers over, which is such a breath of fresh air, because your every video is pure quality and precision. You don't ramble on, your video is just perfect and on point, never too long or too short and so aesthetically pleasing. I honestly thought that you were a very talented tech guy with artistic flair to boot. And then you mentioned you had anxiety. And then you did really well baking (not forgetting your house renovation project). And you seem really comfortable alone. That's my train of thoughts. Not sure if it makes any sense to you. I certainly need to learn from you to express myself with less words. All the best of luck on your journey.

We don't need to be all the same so whenever people ask you stuff like "do you have asperger's" in the way it was asked just take that as a compliment :) you clearly don't fit in the same box as most people and I find that wonderful.

I live in the U.S. and have quite enjoyed your tiny home videos. My grandson had such high anxiety just like you. At the age of 16 he wrote to the county education board to complete his GED. Which is an exam to demonstrate that one has obtained the knowledge to complete high school. They gave him permission. It took him a couple of months to work up to actually taking them and scored high enough to also earn college credit. I’m sure he would not have done as well if he had to continue to attend school. He was home schooled for 6-9th grade, tried to go back to regular school and it was a disaster. He does not do well in performance based education, also due to his anxiety. He is exceedingly intelligent and loves to learn. Which he demonstrated by doing so well on the GED. You seem very intelligent and well spoken, so I think your anxiety very much got in your way. It is interesting to note that he started streaming game play, then got into developing avatar art and programming them. He is now 17 and wants to take digital art courses and programming. I shared all this because of your comment on anxiety and wanted people to understand that there are several pathways to success and that anxiety is so very real. It does make you more personable to your followers. Another question I would ask is, "Will you be taking from what you learned in filming your current renovated home (good and bad) and use that in filming the next project with your brother?"

So glad to hear that you're far happier now. So well done on the OU degree! Seriously, you don't have anything to be ashamed of - rather the opposite. Many young people would have given up completely on education in your circs. And please be assured that the OU is a very well regarded University and a global leader in its teaching methodologies and quality. (Speaking as a former post 18 educator,)

Hi George, I randomly came across your videos. I am in the Scottish highlands. To answer why you got the autism question. ( my background I work with child services mostly teenagers with autism and my daughter is non-verbal autistic) I believe why you got this question is down to a few things. You are straightforward in the way you talk. This is commonly an ASD behaviour and your lack of eye contact with the camera. You have spoken about not liking classes and class environments you could be overwhelmed with so many things happening in one room. This is just my thoughts i am not a doctor. If you want to get it looked into go for it however in Scotland if you have made it this far in life you will not get much support but you will an explanation. Your videos are amazing! Insightful and helpful. The world needs a lot more KZreadrs like you and less of the look at me ones! Good luck.

Oh, no, don't rush into anything, George. Being single can be so much fun. Enjoy your single life. As for formal education in an institutional setting, meh, it is all just programming , George. I spent years deprogramming myself from what my parents wasted a lot of money on (private university education). Unless you need a specific skill or credentials for a specific reason, you can learn more by reading everything you can get your hands on. Mainstream media is not the only one lying to us. I truly enjoy listening to you, and intrigued that someone so young like Bobby Darin. I didn't think you would know him.

Interesting question and answer session. So many questions coming from not knowing the scottish personality. We aren't all Billy connelly, but we do have a good sense of humour. We aren't all drunks, aggressive or anti other people (ie anti English as the tabloid press like to push) and we can be quiet , reflective , and loyal friends. What I see in this interview is a bright, gentle, caring man who knows his own mind. Good on ye pal.

While some people can give ( angry? ) feedback, based in just one word of some minuscule detail, as an whole I just realized that You are maybe the most honest and open person I have seen in KZread. People can be upset, of some one mentions, money, love, gay/strait, religion etc, but I feel it really fresh that You can talk all. There was one guy at bbc grand design that was really inspiring. Maybe You could get something by watching his story. He was just average guy with nothing, and wanted wife home and family. He used his imagination and got work of some king of forester or game keeper in natural sanctuary. Build home at special permission and was so enchanting that found mate thru publicity

The Asperger's question was probably because you are sooo non-American: you don't give that nervous high energy vibe, your jokes are not super obvious and your dark eyes, fair skin and red coloring are unusual. Also you chose to preserve a small, old house with a weird layout rather than buying a new, shiny, plastic one. Also not very American of you. How dare you... So don't worry about it; the vibe you are giving off is that of a super cool, chilled, nice, smart, funny and kind guy. That's all. Also - please be proud of your degree!! TONS of people would just have done nothing and given up on getting a degree. BUT NOT YOU! 💪🤓

Hi, I found your channel after clicking to find out what 140k can buy you in Scotland... The education system puts a lot of pressure on young people. I experienced heavy burnout at 16, 18, and 21. At the time, grades were high hoops to jump through. Most employers don't even look too closely at GCSEs, A-levels, or degree classifications. In the real world, life experience is worth more. I'm 29 next month and reached many career milestones, but some days I feel an existential crisis coming. I suffer a lot from imposter syndrome, often feeling that I don't deserve any of it, even though, I worked really hard to get here. Most days, life doesn't feel the way my past self imagined it would, once I got here. I'm not sure how to put the entire feeling into words. I suppose there is some truth to the quarter life crisis. From one young person to another... you are not alone. No one has it all figured out. I'm aiming to get onto the property ladder as a first-time buyer & it's really inspiring that you have already completed a renovation. Bravo! Be proud of everything you have achieved. Your journey is completely unique to you. Keep doing you and what feels right for you in the moment. Side note: Whenever I need a break from life, I usually escape to Edinburgh. Old Town is magical! Some of my favourite haunts are; - Mary's Milk Bar (ice cream) on the grassmarket; - La Barantine (patisserie) on Victoria St; - La Laconda (italian restaurant) & The Milkman (coffee shop) both on Cockburn St. I was in Edinburgh for the Xmas Markets last December and everytime I visit, I love finding something new. I spotted a Maine Coon just relaxing in the window and turns out it was a cat cafe! Sadly it was fully booked, so the Maison de Moggy is on my list for next time and I think it's something you'll really like. If you do move to Edinburgh, it'll be really cool to follow your journey. Wishing you all the best.

Anxiety was a huge problem for me in my teenage years and sitting in class while having a panic attack or just feeling anxious … well, you know how that feels!
