Don't feel bad about putting him in a playpen for one second. He's a baby, he doesn't need that much space, it's not about space, it's about safety and him not finding those little things on the floor you missed that you talked about. My son had a piece of tin foil Valentine's Day heart from the garland in his mouth one day. Also, as soon as he starts walking, CLIMBING goes right along with that skill. My son got up on the kitchen counters and would pick up things there, so nothing is safe. The playpen IS the safety and it also allows you to do things you need to do. WIN-WIN. You are doing a fantastic job with motherhood and so is Dallas, love to both - all three of you! Have more babies soon!

Been watching you forever, makes me so happy and I am 70! But, I gave up even trying for a sweatshirt or shirt, one I am a plus size and 2 you are so poplar(woohoo for you,deserved!), that I can't ever get one. Such a happy rascal Lucian is, awwww. Dallas & you are the cool couple. Do Not feel bad abot the playpen, they are made & popular for a reason, SAFETY and peace of mind.

Living for any content you make. If your having a issue with not using a big bag of carrots. You can wash them. Then chop them up into slices. Boil them for 15 mins. Then after 15 minutes you put them in a ice bath in a bowl. It keeps all the nutrients and you can store them in the freezer for up to 10-12 months. It is the cheapest way to save money. As well as you can puree them in a few months when your son starts eating foods.

You have the playpen ...if he's up so early you can put him in there with safe toys and let him go at it while you doze a little on the sofa nearby . at least you know he's safe in there and you can snooze a little. I never slept very deeply when my son was small it was like always had my ears open to listen for him

Yes THISS!! I try to sneak in naps here and there, but I feel like I’m sleeping with one eye open. I know it will get better as he gets older, but whew!!! They say no rest for the wicked 😂😂😂

I did this as well with my son. He would be up at 5-5:30am and I would just put him in his playpen with a cartoon on and I would nap on the couch!! LOL!!

I’m having a really hard motherhood day. My 5 month old baby is sleeping horribly at night and today he’s refusing his naps. I’m watching this after sobbing all day. He finally fell asleep in my arms. Hearing you explain that you’re in the same boat is both helpful and terrifying. Thank you for continuing to share how hard this can be and that no matter what methods you try, they don’t always work. I beat myself up for not trying more methods but it’s like my intuition is telling me it’s not gonna work. Anyway, thanks again 🖤

I’m so sorry you’re having one of those days. It’s honestly the most defeating and lonely feeling ever on those days. It’s so hard not to feel like you’re doing something terribly wrong. I promise you’re doing amazing, and the messaging behind sleep and pressure to sleep train kids who just don’t have that disposition has been hurtful more than helpful. I felt like the messaging was suffocating every step of the way cuz it just never even seemed to make sense for us (patting his butt to calm him makes him SO MAD)! The only thing that helps my son is snuggling him and rocking him, and I refuse to believe that’s a “bad habit”. You know your baby!! You know what he needs, and in time our babies will sleep (they have to, right? 😂). You are doing the right thing by following your motherly intuition! That being said GHOUL!! 4-5 months was the WORST of all! Like literal hell on earth! Like I’m not sleeping now, and I’m so tired, but at least now I get hours of rest in between wake ups. Lucian went through the fighting nap stage around 4-5 months (taking maybe 20min naps if I was lucky) too and then woke up every 40min at night at that stage. His naps got so much better around 6-7 months and even now his naps are our saving grace! He naps an hour and a half twice a day now. *** I’m making sure to go into detail here in case you’re in a similar boat or looking for specifics. I promise it doesn’t get much worse than 4-5 months imo! I think 6-7 months was the best sleep for us…. Then teething has sent us into a downward spiral of doom! But don’t let that scare you cuz it’s still better than that 4 month sleep regression!! You can do this!! It will forever be a story to tell, but we’ll make it through! Solidarity cuz whew!! 😴

I rub babies back gently, touch his head gently, if that doesn't sooth baby & he's wide awake, head up, standing.....it's diaper check, very low light on, then kissing, hugging, whispering, and rocking! Comforts & relaxes mama & baby !

Girl you are in good company here! My son just got to 8 months, and like Jade said, 4-6 was the worst (in terms of sleep) for us. similar to Lucian, my son was only napping in 20-30 increments. And at night, waking up every 2-3 hours. Idk what happened, but at 6 months he just magically started napping longer. it slowly increased to 45 minute naps, then 1 hour naps, now his first nap is 2 hours and his second nap is 30 minutes to an hour. and he's sleeping longer stretches at night. on cue, he wakes up every night between 11-12, but then he'll sleep through until 6-ish. could not tell you why his little body always wakes up then. we've tried all the tricks. then only thing that stuck was putting him down in his sleep right before he knocks out fully. All the other sleep training advice did not work for us. If he wakes up, patting his butt or rubbing his back does not work for him, it just makes him angry that I'm not picking him up. This next part is PURELY my experience, I am not suggesting anything about you or your child. I have ASD, and there's a chance my son does too. He's already doing hand flapping/stimming movements. Could be a kid thing, or it could be ASD, who knows. 🤷‍♀ but ASD is known to cause sleep issues, regardless of what you do. So all I can teach him is good sleep hygiene. And if he has ASD, he definitely needs the extra support and comfort, so I will not feel bad for responding to his cries. I have people in my life who tell me babies are capable of manipulation and he's just trying to get his way. I do not believe this at all, I think babies are trying to communicate their needs and for them to feel safe I need to be there to address them. Of all things, I would recommend focusing on sleep hygiene. Meaning, a consistent bedtime routine, no screens 1 hour before bedtime, and soothing activities 1-2 hours before bedtime. Those are things even recommended for adults. Once I started doing this for my son and myself, our sleep got better. Not good, just better lol. I truly hope you get rest and relief, and you are the best mom for your child ♥you are amazing, give yourself a lot of self-love.

My Goblin Toddler wants Lucian to know: "Hi, baby!" And, more importantly, "Baby sleepy." Love these videos. I brought buffalo chicken dip.

I tried this, and it unfortunately did not work for us. My son would still wake up every few hours. For example, oatmeal and rice do not keep me satiated for more than a couple of hours; I need protein to stay full. So if he's like me, the baby cereals aren't the solution.

Old school advice, up his bd time by an hour & bedtime bottle add a little cereal in it. Worked for my kids. I remember the zombie mom phase well. Best wishes dear Jade. It won’t last forever, I promise ❤

YES!!! MY BABIES WERE CRYING BECAUSE FORMULA WASN'T FILLING THEM UP! MY Mom knew, she said add pablum, baby cereal to his bottle for dinner time...... MaMa WAS RIGHT ! Babies wake up with gas pains too...try gas drops. It may take 5-6 hours for one burp ! REMEMBER: "WE ALL MADE IT"!

My kids were both very different, but one thing that shifted their sleep (in a better direction) would be whenever they'd get on the other side of a big physical milestone (e.g. crawling, standing, walking, etc.). Afterward they'd pare down their number of naps and sleep longer in the night. So I'm crossing my fingers for you that Lucian finds his groove soon. Oh gosh I feel for you!

Yesss!! I’ve noticed this!! It seems like learning a new skill and teething are the two main culprits! They can never happen at the same time either of course 😂😂😂 so we’ll get hit with a new skill followed by new teeth 🙃 Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Reading stories from moms really really helps! 🖤🖤🖤

My first baby was a terrible sleeper and cried a lot. He would constantly wake up all night long and i was miserable, i didnt know what sleep or a happy baby was 😅. Now he is 5 and will sleep until noon if i let him. My second baby has been the total opposite, he has been super happy since day one and has always been a great sleeper. He is three now and wakes up when we do in the morning so he is an early riser. So dont lose hope! He may become a good sleeper eventually!

Just a thought. Trade off nights, especially since you're not nursing. Have Dallas get up one night and you do the next. That way, you know a full night of sleep is just around the corner. I had to Ferberize my kids, because I was back to work after 6 weeks. Everyone works, everyone chips in.

My kids were the same way with sleeping, and I tried ALL the things and nothing worked. You WILL make it through but it is not easy at all. There’s a reason why sleep deprivation has been used as a form of torture. 😆 Having someone watch him sometimes while you take time for yourself is very important to restore and refresh. 💗

My daughter was the same way. Her pediatrician recommended one nap during the day and keeping her up an hour later at night. We kept her up most of the day (she took one, one hour nap) and put her to bed that night at 9. She slept till 7am. It was wonderful.

You did a great job with his Easter basket 🐣🧺, his going into love it. I wish more people made Easter baskets for adults. I think you and Dallas should have holiday baskets too.

Hey ghoul once Lucian starts walking you’ll see better sleep, he will expend different kinds of energy and sleep better. Only other choice if you haven’t tried already is fuller belly for sleep and or decreasing his nap time or being sure his nap time isn’t allowing him enough awake time before night sleep. Considering all of that you said he is going down at 7:30 and waking at 4am , he has been sleeping 8 or 9 hours already. You may need schedule adjustments, it will get better and not be like this forever! He so big and adorable as can be❤

It’s exhausting business sometimes being a mom 😂😂😴 I’m lucky to have a village who steps in and says “go see that movie you wanted to see” or “I’ll take him”. Dallas brought me my favorite coffee the other day when I was having a bad day without me even mentioning it. I cried 😂😂😂 but sometimes it’s the thoughtful things people do when they see you struggling. So thank you for your reassurance! Fresh carrots can be par boiled and frozen. Steam well and can be portion sized and cuts down on food waste. Walmart here sells frozen spinach which is great for cooking and wont go to waste. Lucian is adorable and you and hubby are amazing parents!!!

Idk what time ya'll go to bed, or if this has already been suggested.. but everything I have heard, you gotta keep him up later for him to sleep in later. If you put him down around 7pm and he woke up at 4:45am, thats 9 - 10hrs.. so that's why he is waking up so early. He is getting a full night's sleep. Try putting him down a couple of hours later. Even if he is fussy, try to entertain him and keep him up. 🖤💕

Lucien is just a little older than my sweet boy. I was so excited when I found out you were prego!! You are an awesome Momma!! Sleep will come. I found bunny shaped pasta at Marshall’s and making pasta salad. Pasta, Italian dressing, mini pepperonis and cherry tomatoes. Have an awesome Easter!!

There’s a how to catch a monster, witch, elf, Santa, gingerbread man, mermaid, unicorn, dragon, tooth fairy…there’s a lot of them lol!

My son started sleeping through the night at 2 months, he’s a lover of sleep just like his momma.

FYI........THEY DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING WE DO UNTIL AROUND...MAYBE 6!!

We had a big playpen similar to that when our daughter was little and it was a lifesaver to get things done. Don’t feel bad about it 🖤 Could be the teething that is waking him up, we had that stage. It passes but when you’re in it, man it feels like it’s never going to end. Maybe just a 30 min power nap when he’s napping just to take the sleepy edge off could help. I know there’s so much to do when they sleep. I regret not napping more when my daughter was little and napped. She completely stopped taking naps when she was 2 & a half. You are doing great

For Easter I made my mom's potato salad with baby dill pickles. 😊 Chop Yellow potatoes to whatever sizes you prefer and boil them till tender. Let cool before adding the rest of ingredients. Cut fresh tomatoes or slice lengthwise grape tomatoes, 3 hard boiled eggs, baby dill pickles. In a bowl add chopped pieces of hard boiled eggs, pickles and tomatoes to cooled potatoes. Add a couple spoonfuls of miracle whip (or to taste), then salt pepper (to taste) and stir together. Cool in fridge or sample lol Thought I should share because of the dill pickles. 🤷‍♀️🧡

We went to my sister and brother-in-law‘s for brunch. We all brought some thing. I brought macaroni salad. I made a regular one and a gluten-free one for a couple nieces that need that. I also made deviled eggs. Everyone said that it was all good, so that’s a plus.🐰

Absolutely do not feel bad about using that penthouse playpen! Keeping him safe and saving your sanity in one. And the other comments about putting him in their if he wakes up early are spot on. I did the same thing just for an extra hour or two of sleep. My first child woke up every two hours for monthssssss. And my next one slept 4 hours at a time!! I agree with it being a personality type situation. And I had days where I would just cry incessantly because I would think what have gotten myself into? But I knew it was worth it. Hang in there! You are killing it!

LOVED this vlog, the longer the better! Cracked me up when you're choosing Lucian's pjs, then next clip is you in the AM, even sands make-up... Gorgeous. Glad Dallas bought the hat, there are just some people that no matter what they put on, it says Rocker! Great choices on the books, all sooo cute. What was the store with the raven blackberry-scented air freshener? There were about 10 items I would have picked up LOL. @@JadeTheLibra Exactly! Everyone loves how my mom makes them. She uses dill juice or something. I won’t make them. I hard boiled some eggs this morning for my 21 year old daughter who (still) wants to dye them. 🥰 I made her an Easter basket too. I’ll do it til she doesn’t want it anymore.

I love how much he loves books!!

My son was the same with his sleep. He didnt sleep till he was a year and a half ish. I ended up doing controlled naps, he had 1 nap a day for an hour/hour and a half and then i woke him up. Dont get me wrong he still didnt sleep the night through but the wake ups through out the night was less frequent 😂 Hes 14 now and sleeps like the dead lol. Hang in there it gets better!

My pediatrician told us when we were so desperate for a night of sleep, and our twins just weren’t sleeping at all by 10 months. He said make sure they are full, dry and safe and then put some ear plugs in and go to bed. He assured us if we didn’t, we would probably have a mental breakdown, so we listened (it was SO hard to decide to). Just that one night of us not soothing or feeding them and they slept well from that day forward.😳🤯🤯🤯🙌 #MindBlown
