Another Record Collection Picked Up This Week!! Vinyl Community

Музыка

Hey guys, here's another collection I picked up on Sunday. It was about 500 records that I went through and narrowed down to about 300. The other 200 will be donated because they aren't anything special. There's good stuff sprinkled throughout the video but the really good stuff is at the end. Enjoy!!

    Wow Billy, that is quite a collection. Quite a few Stones albums. That copy of Between The Buttons is nice with the original and very cool hype. Also the 'Live R Than You'll Ever Be' was a super find. Way to go Brother B~ Rob/Boston

    Rob, damn straight those Stones albums are nice. I had a feeling they might be something special, I just had no clue that so many of them would be as nice and desirable as they are. Take care, Billy-

    Thanks for the info on the Maiden single, Andy. I have a kid who is heading off to college next week and just got his first turntable so I will set him up with a few "must haves" as a going away present.

    NICE!! A lot of great stuff once again. Two that really caught my eye,besides Stones obviously,were George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. Like you said finding one with a box in such great condition is really rare.And with a poster! My copy is in decent shape, no tears and a bit wear, without poster. The other one was Delaney & Bonnie's Motel Shot. Never seen it on vinyl. Their records are really thin on the ground.Never seen Home or D&B Together either. Or even decent condition copy of From Delaney to Bonnie. Pasi

    Buffy Sainte-Marie is a Canadian folk singer. Known mostly for her distinct voice. Peanut Butter Conspiracy is a fairly desirable "psych" record. Really more folk like, at least to me, but good nonetheless. Cool Stones collection, hey, Ike and Tina! Great stuff.

    Oh yes, this one was very different...not necessarily in a bad way. There was one crate that had some VERY COOL records in it. Even though I'm not into the Jefferson Airplane and other things, I will most likely sell those or trade them for other things that will better suit my collection. I would rather see them find a home in someone's collection who would appreciate them because they are far too nice of original pressings to be stuck here and never played.

    Billy, you´re killing me brother haha! Insane haul, contrats! The WL Promos of Pretties for you and Piledrive left me back jealous. I already was wondering while watching your previous collection-videos if there might be some Quo in there and here they are at last! Those Stones LPs are out of this world! I´ve never seen original copies in such superclean conditions. And you scored them for $1.- to $1,50 a piece, you must be fuckin´ kidding me!! That Stones Boot was great, never seen this before. Personally I woould have loved to dig more specific in to the red box with the more folky records in it. I have an album by Buffy Sainte-Marie. She´s still active today and was very popular in the 60s. Nice Carly LP on front (because I´m 12 lmao!!!!) Thanks for sharing yet another killer vid brother! -Ben

    Ben, I loved your reply, especially the part about the Carly cover :) The Quo wasn't in the best of condition(still a good player copy) , but I'm hoping it's a good record as far as their catalog is concerned. I am still wanting to find a good record of theirs to introduce me to their stuff. The Stones stuff blew me away one I had a few minutes to actually sit down and go through each one and compare matrix numbers, etc to see what pressings they were. Mind = blown!! Maybe I will do just a quick video and go through the crate with the Buffy and other things in it. Like I said, there were some very cool original Peter, Paul & Mary records and some other oddities in there as well. Have a good one, my friend! Billy-

    Yeah, Piledriver is definitely a good point to start with! One album I can highly recommend is On The Level from 1975. It´s actually their best album (and it was my introduction to them). Anything between 1971 and 1976 is killer! Oh, that´d be great, you really woke my interest what else might be in the red box after naming a few artists. I totally love Joan Baez, PP+M and all this. Have a great weekend! -Ben

    what do you mean with "starter records" ? Even if you starting a record collection everybody has a different music taste and should buy the stuff their into :D

  • @BillyHurst

    @BillyHurst

    5 жыл бұрын

    Simon B. What I meant by starter records was most people aren’t as picky about condition, etc when they are starting out. They don’t mind a little wear to the cover or album itself. I guess another term I could have used is “placeholder”. It’s just a record that will do for most collectors until they run across a nice one to keep.

    How much do you typically pay for a collection of this size -- about 500 albums? Just wondering. I have not seen a VC video on advice for buying a collection from a private seller. That is, what is they typical dollar amounts involved and how do you get in contact with persons selling collections. Do you run ads in newspapers, magazines, etc ?

  • @BillyHurst

    @BillyHurst

    5 жыл бұрын

    Darron Derrick thanks for stopping by. Every collection I buy is different and lately they are becoming harder and harder to buy in lots this big for a decent amount. This particular collection wasn’t in the best of condition so I had to start at about .25 cents or so per record. You have to take he good with the bad. Some collections where I’m able to cherry pick and the condition is good I may pay $3-4 dollars per record. It is always changing. I used to run ads on Facebook but I no longer do that just because you may have to go look at ten piles of junk before you even get to find something you’re interested in. It’s a grind and if you’re willing to put in the time, it can pay off. Best of luck.
