Interesting video with interesting insight on what appears to be good power gain but how it is lost in harmonic frequencies. It is mind incredible how many of these radios still exist.

I've always considered it to be good practice to tape a copy of the mod (with notes if necessary) to aid any other tech that follows.

Seems the more of these I have come in the worse they are. Packed full of mods and crap. Nice to see them like the one on your bench. I have two of these myself I picked up. Need a power supply board for one of them. Great video as always Mike.

Hi Mike. My friend acquired a 2000 GTL. He wanted me to check it out for him. It’s been sitting for ten or twenty years. So I brought it up on a Variac slowly. Worked fine. Needles moved , frequency counter worked fine. No mods. After forty minutes it stopped working. Frequency counter reads 92.2000. Looking for the service bulletin 1232. I’ll do the cap job and hopefully it’s not the PLL chip. Any ideas?

since no one uses analog tv"s no one will see any cb interference ,like you seen years ago I remember I would come into stores music system parking near there building

Sometimes it is the location's poorly installed PA system. It is not always the radio!

Harmonics from hell

Whenever I change panel lights I try to replace them with white LEDs. Messing with the LPF is a great way to get QRV 54MHz.

LOL.....Unsoldered wires with electrical tape! That makes wire nuts look professional by comparison! Never thought I would say that about wire nuts! LOL

When you say "recap" do you mean new capacitors?

Plus the needles on the meter don’t move at all. What do you think? I’d appreciate any insight. Thanks.

just completed that no change. i have static but no voices in RX

the 2 switch extras serve no useful purpose want the extras just get a less comm board
