Another CNC Pen Plotter from Old Scanner motors | Arduino + GRBL

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video we will be making a CNC pen plotter with the help of salvaged parts from an old printer scanner. In our case we have salvaged parts from an Old Canon Pixma MP160 printer. JLCPCB - PCBA from $0(Free Setup, Free Stencil), Register To Get Coupons Here:jlcpcb.com/IYB
Note - Please do check stepper motors datasheet for current ratings and set Vref for the drivers accordingly.
Below are the parts which were salvaged -
1. Stepper motor * 2
2. 6mm Linear rod * 4
3. Timing belt * 2
4. Idler pulley * 2
5. 24V Power supply
6. 3mm rods
Other Required Parts -
1. 2020 Aluminium profile
2. M3 nuts and bolts
3. M3 threaded brass inserts
4. M4 t-nuts and bolts

I know it’s not the main focus of this video, but using a nail clipper for tywraps is pretty smart 😄

This is a great project. Is it possible to double the number motors? In this case what will be the CNC Shield settings? Thank you.

How can I increase the working area of this diy plotter...I am thinking of building one from an old Epson inkjet printer that has stepper motors. So I want it to plot over an entire a4 sheet...so what changes do I need to make to increase the plotting area.

So is there already an Arduino sketch available to power these types of Homebrew plotters?

The MP160 is a simple A4 printer. How did you manage to get 4 pieces of 6mm linear rod from a single printer? And even if you salvaged parts from multiple printers ... where inside the printer did you find the long rods for the Y axis? They are clearly longer than the long side of the sheet of paper wich I assume is also at least US letter size or A4. It looks like they don't even fit inside the printer. Next question: Did you model the 3D printed parts yourself? If not: Where did you find those? If yes: Would you publish those on Thingyverse or a similar site?

Of course I salvaged parts from various printers. Please watch at 0:50 to get the estimate size of rod. And the work area of the plotter is around 150*220mm. For STL files I have updated the video description.
