A really fun video. I played it for a grade 8 class who are studying the Medieval period. They LOVED it!!

@Association les Vallonés L'original ou l'un des originaux, se trouve dans la bibliothèque vaticane. Dufaux évoluait dans l'entourage des ducs de Bourgogne (Philippe le Bon,Charles le Téméraire et sa fille, Marie fiancée de Maximilien de Habsbourg.)donc,on doit pouvoir trouver la partition dans les archives municipales (Gand,Bruges..)voire aux archives nationales à Vienne ou en Espagne, souvenons-nous que Charles Quint est le petit-fils de Marie de Bourgogne. Peut-être la BN-F.Mitterand pourrait mieux vous orienter.Autre possibilité, Dufay (1400-1474)meurt à Cambrai,après avoir beaucoup voyagé (Savoie,Milanais,Etats du Pape..)Il reste à Cambrai après 1450,donc, pourquoi pas les archives municipales de Cambrai .Beaucoup de recherches donc auxquelles rajouter les interprètes et les producteurs. OG.

Excellente interprétation malgré la distortion de l'enregistrement surtout à la fin. Un cornet à bouquin serait tout de même préférable à la trompette pour ce type de répertoire..
L'oeuvre n'est qu'une chanson de croupiers de la fin XIV ,début XV ieme siècle reprise puis intégrée dans une œuvre polyphonique ,essentiellement religieuse,c,est une messe,peut être un introduit,mais qui,détachée de son contexte,pouvait s'inncorporerdans d'autres ensembles,ce que nemanquat de faire Guillaume Duffay,ou de Duffay,actif en France,Bourgogne et Italie de 1420-30 à sa mort en 1475.

Apparently the only surviving original song of L'homme armé is the tenor part, which is a gripping and urgent melody. But the original song, with two parts above the tenor and one below, would have been substantially different. Has anyone tried a re-creation on those lines?

The opposite. Jenkins used this traditional theme as the basis for his Armed Man.
OK..lets try it again with out the vibrato.
