Maple Strip it’s around 6:00 a pick off is what you call it when a baserunner occupying a base gets tagged out without the ball being hit by the batter. Typically from a pitcher throwing to a base prior to his next pitch. There are several rules saying what you can and can’t do. In this case, a lefty (who already has an advantage against runners on first base since he’s already facing that direction before he pitches) can’t step more than 45 degrees toward home and still throw to first. 0 degrees meaning directly at first base, and 90 degrees meaning directly towards home. If you step toward home but throw to first, it’s a “balk” or illegal pitch and every runner gets to advance one free base

@@XXETU972 Its not a balk. Everybody knows being a lefty is a huge advantage in baseball and this is why. It doesn't matter how far he steps towards home or how far he steps towards first base. What matters is if he crosses the imaginary 45 degree line. Its a huge gray area that you will almost never get called unless it is extremely obvious because of the angles that the umpires have. It basically ends up being a legal move as long as he doesn't obviously commit to the plate.

As a Minnesotan, around once a year at holidays and family events, the conversation still somehow always gets tied back to Blair Walsh missing that field goal.

They also both play in the same division and have a small rivalry, plus the Reds didn't have a great season. It’s not like they were calling out the other team. They were cheering for their own guys. You paid the price of admission, so you can support em in a loss, a tight game, or a blow out. It wasn’t “Reds suck!” or anything nasty. It was “Let’s go Cubbies”. If you have a problem with other teams coming to your house, then the problem is you haven’t put a product in the field worth the price of admission. Shame on you. The Cubs fans did nothing wrong. But this is all coming from a Philly fan, so take it with a grain of salt...

Right click on volume icon, click sounds, click playback, click on your speakers/whatever, click properties, click the "enhancements" tab, scroll down to "loudness equalization" and check the box. Not perfect but better than nothing.

I literally couldn't understand half of what that dude said so I as thought I misheard him when he said "what a bottleless git" but I was laughing my ass off at it! The UK needs to pass a law that all sports announcers must be either from Northern England (i.e. the funny sounding ones) or Scotland, with a heavy accent that becomes less intelligible the more intense the game becomes and a tendency to burst out in semi-cohorent rambles when he feels it necessary to do so.

For all y’all saying that the Cubs fans were obnoxious, ya gotta remember that that game was during a season where we had a chance at winning the World Series after 100 years of never making it. This was our greatest chance in any of our lifetimes. Hell, people have lived their entire lives without seeing a Cubbies victory. So to see our team do so well after being so terrible for years is enough to make anyone excited and proud.

While I don't agree with it, I kinda get Brennaman's frustration. There was a time where if you were an away team fan, you could cheer on your team, but going so far as to chant and attempt to "rub it in" would get your ass beat. Nowadays, it's more commonplace and even I as a Reds fan respect that.
