Anne-Sophie Mutter, Daniel Barenboim, Yo-Yo Ma - Beethoven: Triple Concerto in C Major, Op. 56 No. 2

Музыка

Three classical music giants, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth by recording the Triple Concerto. Pairing the Concerto with the Seventh Symphony, the album also marks the 20th birthday of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.
Watch "Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra" in full on STAGE+: www.stage-plus.com/de/video/v...
The Triple Concerto has a special place in Beethoven’s oeuvre, revealing his revolutionary spirit and ingrained humour both in its sophisticated architecture and in its musical idiom. Ever inventive, creative and original, here Beethoven stages a lavish musical feast over-flowing with melody, a feast. Yo-Yo Ma puts it in these words: “For me, in the Triple Concerto, it’s the constant invention that always takes me by surprise. You know what I love about the piece? It’s so celebratory, so positive.” Performed by three of today’s most renowned classical artists and Beethoven interpreters - Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim and accompanied by the acclaimed West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Watch them perform Beethoven's Triple Concerto in C Major, Op. 56, No.2 Largo - Attacca, Live at Philharmonie, Berlin (2019).

Anne-Sophie Mutter says “Beethoven has really found the eternal message of embracing mankind. The idea that we can and should live in a brother and sisterhood is really the essence of his music.” Do you agree?

Thank God musicians do not have political power, such stupid idealism would result only in political catastrophe - music transcends all nations, creeds, races and beliefs, it unites mankind in a shared unity of feeling, unfortunately real life exists at a different plane, where borders exist and there are differences is money, fame, power and influence between individuals who have competing needs, interests, rights and responsibilities. Those competing needs do not get resolved with thoughtless, well-meaning soundbites from celebrities talking from their rarified bubbles of pampered privilege.

@@humphryshan9494 Even though there are many youngsters who tune in classical music, majority of them tune into more mainstream music as it is very catchy which can be easily likeable to which more people like it more than classical. Although people are tuned into music like pop, rap, etc, the problem is either less curiousity to learn about a totally new genre or just that it's their own musical taste. One of the worst issues with nowadays in classical music, is that when it comes to talent shows like Britain's got talent or Americas got talent the media potrays classical music to be a very boring genre thus being very disrespectful to the way how it is. For example, last year in Americas got talent in 2019, there was this Italian pianist who played Fur Elise where in just few seconds some of the audience members were caught yawning, but when he did a strange energetic dance on fur Elise everybody cheered him! He didn't even finish the piece and he just kicked his piano stool and danced !Another Example I saw was on Britain's got talent 2009, there were these two women ( Sue and Janine) who played an original composition and both were actually amazing, (They played a keyboard (Janine)and violin (Sue)duo) but they were given all red buzzers. But Simon called out one of them, which was Sue who played the violin where Simon asked her to continue being a solo player without her friend. (Where she accepted) But then.she played Presto of Summer by Antonio Vivaldi, where everybody cheered again! You will notice that majority of the people who play classical music will also play flight of the bumblebee in numerous occasions other than anything else. The problem is they way how media portrays it to which they probably do fake reactions as it scripted reality TV. However we still have contemporary composers like Max Richter, Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Alma Deutscher (Although she is a classical composer). But based on how the world is, it has changed. However look at the variety of music we can listen to, we have pop, R & B, rock, metal, EDM, etc. SO we have so may options to choose from. The good thing is because all technology , we have access to KZread where we can see whatever music or anything we like. We all are different in our likes and dislikes, the only thing is there shouldn't be a conflict within any genre to create any trouble. All this is a personal opinion, Have a good day

Nearly. Our God is ultimately creative and the heart and ear and physics of overtone, timbre, and intonation are of His skill alone. This kind of art touches His heart, I trust. When I saw Maestro Ma focusing on Maestra Mutter's face to ensure he matched her every bow movement, and saw Maestro Barenboim's transformation from an elderly artist to a practitioner of Beethoven's joys, the celebration in sound was indeed ethereal.

The Majestic Rendition of LvB Triple Concerto with the three legends, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra is an absolutely beautiful balance in the sound. The Master Composer conveys a deep and profound feeling of nostalgia.

I think one of the only truly accurate means by which human beings can understand the divine is through the feelings and emotions that are produced through contemplation of Beethoven, Bach and Mozart .

Update: I was recently looking at the BluRay on Amazon again, and I noticed on the backside of the cover that the playback region is "0", or universal! I added a comment for Amazon to update their info and make the correction about playback region. Also, the BluRay contains the only the Triple Concerto, not the Seventh Symphony, as the CD does. FYI, Deutsche Grammophon's website has NO information about the disc except the price!

Having heard Anne-Sophie Mutter on January 22, 2020, here in Chicago offering 3 Beethoven Piano & Violin Sonatas, # 4, 5, & 9, I was deeply moved by the profundity of her interpretations and spiritual elements in her playing which mirror all Ms. Mutter is quoted as mentioning just below ... Her words are her music making and no doubt Ludwig van Beethoven would be deeply moved hearing the deeper messages in his Beethoven Triple portion here with another spiritual Master of the Violoncello, Yo Yo Mah ... As a blessed pupil of Jascha Heifetz and Nathan Milstein, I am more deeply aware of the larger picture as so beautifully stated by the wonderful artist, Anne-Sophie Mutter ... May every blessing reign upon this dear person and grand artist! Elisabeth Matesky
