Her extraordinary talent would NEVER be appreciated today! There are not many actresses with her DEPTH and raw emotional power. Women's roles today rely mainly on artifice and sadly, are usually very one-dimensional. We need more female writers, directors, and studio heads to create the really important roles that now only exist for MEN. Some have tried and failed to penetrate the mostly male-dominated film industry. Tennessee Williams wrote parts SPECIFICALLY for her and others because his work could not be expressed by a mediocre actor. The power of her artistry could draw you into any role she played and made her uncommon beauty shine through.
