Anna Karenina, Part One | ORIGINAL SERIES | by Karen Shakhnazarov

Фильм және анимация

A large-scale adaptation of Russian classics - a multi-part film based on the great novel by Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy "Anna Karenina"
1904 Russo-Japanese War. Manchuria. The Russian military hospital, retreating, occupies a semi-abandoned Chinese village. The head of the hospital, Sergei Karenin, learns that the wounded officer he is operating on, earl Vronsky, is the one who killed his mother, Anna Karenina, and indirectly caused the death of his father. Having no illusions and not expecting an answer, Karenin nevertheless goes to Vronsky and asks the question that has tormented him all his life: what made his mother cross the line? earl Vronsky, in turn, learns that the doctor is the same Seryozha Karenin. After some hesitation, the count agrees to tell the story of his tragic love for Anna Karenina, noting that people remember only what is convenient for them to remember...

It is nice to know that they are married in real life. I read the novel at an age when the world was either black or white to me. I was so engrossed by the novel that, as of today, though I had forgotten many of the details, I still remember that tragic feeling. Knowing that they are married in real life mitigates that tragic feeling. I know it is strange, but it does have that impact on me. 😊Anna Karenina is a masterpiece.

They're the First Couple Still Together at The Time Of Production of A Version Of Anna Karenina I heard of! I read that the Anna And Vronsky actors from the 1967 Version were ex-spouses While In The 2009 Version The Director was Previously married To Both The Anna Actress As Well was As The Lady Who Played Vronsky's Mom! Oh And Garbo and John Gilbert in the 1927 Silent Movie Version were lovers

I never thought that something will make me love the novel Anna Karenina more than I already do. But this incredible well done film does!!!... When William Faulkner was asked to name the best three novel he read he said: " Anna Karenina, Anna Karenina. Anna Karenina". This superb novel - for many, the best ever written - deserved a masterful film, and this does the job at the highest possible level of professionalism!.... I cannot congratulate them enough...

brilliant movie.Terrific direction and lots of lots of talented actors who are very well grounded. There is no other rendition that I have seen that compares. This Anna is terrific, quixotic, unpredictable and at times uncomfortable to be with. I am only a bit over half way thru the experience and I rarely watch movies anymore because so many feel like manipulated events that project technology. The relationships in this production are incredibly complex, ironic and sensitively lived. And the period is captured as I would imagine it to be without any stiffness or contrivance but instead with incredible illumination. I am afraid to watch all the way thru, it is so compelling and dangerous. I would only add that the flash forwards detract from the real story. The real story is so rich and full of mystery, this is all that is necessary.

Vitaly Kishchenko, who plays Karenin here, also plays one of the starring roles in "White Tiger" , one of my favorite Russian WW II movies, also produced by Shaknazarov. Give it a watch, but be sure to pick the sub-titles version - like here. The dubbed version stinks. For their more contemporary outing, check out "Vladivostok", also recommended.
