    I'd really love to see an eventual video of all the power banks directly compared on if they can support a UPS-like operation. It's not their primary use, true. But they look good as on-the-go external batteries for something like a sub 65w mini-PC. You're one of the only people that went over data crucially noting that some of the USB ports will reset if another port has a change.

    I really want someone to open up this power bank. I just received mine and was surprised to see the 3950mAh*7. I would think that means that it does not use 6 2170 cells like the 737. The past Anker power banks I’ve used have had pretty accurate representations of how the cells are positioned in the pack in marketing material compared to teardown videos, and the Anker 250W battery is the first to showcase pouch styled cells in the marketing material that I know of. This would seem like the first time Anker didn’t use cylindrical cells which I presume is for better volumetric density. Thanks for this amazing and thorough test. It did almost reach the claimed 240W for 2 USB C ports. I wished you went ahead and added a USB A device just to max it out because using all 3 ports is when Anker claims 250W. I did figure out how to turn off that USB A output by putting it on the base and pressing and holding the side button. Can’t figure out how to turn it off without the dock😅.

    Did you verify PPS on the faster C port? The manual indicates PPS on the input (That rail is what the Anker 100W charging base pin input uses), but not on the output. Output looks like standard USB PD rails. Additionally, did you test the 170W dual port charging mode on the Anker, using 2 140W chargers?

  • @AllThingsOnePlace

    @AllThingsOnePlace

    8 ай бұрын

    On the Anker, I did verify PPS output at 100W and it worked no problems, only on the faster port. I didn't try dual adapter charging, not sure how that would work. If you have one try it and let me know how long it takes to finish charging, remembering the built in screen doesn't actually tell you when charging is done.

    Do you do a rated capacity test? Many of the powerbanks has this listed in specs. I think I saw the UGreen with 14500mAh. This seems to done at 5V so seems like a good real world test to test useable battery capacity and dc dc converter efficiency before bms switches off. This would be relatively easy standardised test to do on all powerbanks. Great test you have to done show UGreen doesnt stand up to high discharge rates. Keep up the good work.

  • @AllThingsOnePlace

    @AllThingsOnePlace

    3 ай бұрын

    Everyone does it differently. The voltage would only be part of the equation. I don't only use the 5V setting test since it's unfair to some and would make others look great. What I do instead is a full load and a partial load test on larger power banks, and the 5V or 9V test on a smaller power bank representing a typical phone as the load. It is a time balance thing too. I'd do more testing but spending days testing power banks for a couple extra data points that will only give you a small amount more information does not seem a worth while trade off.

    I have been waiting for this review! Anker states this bank supports dual input charging up to 170W on their website: "170W Fast USB-C Recharge: Recharge your power bank at lightning speed with the convenience of dual USB-C ports, allowing you to fully replenish it in just 37 minutes." I did not see that tested nor it mentioned in one way or another. Can you test that capability? I love my two Anker 737 banks(got 1 for free). With the MASSIVE battery(99.6Wh) in my Apple MBP 16" M2 Max, the additional capacity of this new bank calls to me. Is it worth it? Sounds like the 737 has more accurate display information(100% actually means 100%?), but you mentioned this new one does 140 power delivery MUCH better than the 737. What does that mean exactly?

  • @TheStopwatchGod

    @TheStopwatchGod

    The Anker 737 requires a break after discharging the entire battery at 140W. AllThingsOnePlace said during the 140W discharge test he had to wait for 1 hour before the powerbank would let him charge it again. The Prime 27,650mAh powerbank, however needs no such break. It can output 140W and recharge at 140W all day long with no overheat

    I have tested it as well. Can be recharged at 170 watts in 37 to 40 minutes, NO PD 3.1 REQUIRED!! you just need some multiport 200w+ charger to get this to work. Ugreen nexode 200w and 300w will work with this. Wotobeus 200w charger will also do the trick. you could also hog up two wall outlets and then plug two 100w PD 3.0 chargers with two 5 amp cables and it will also work. It'll just split the charge 20v 4.25a + 20v 4.25a

    Yeah, it's a tough one, availability is also the question. The anker power banks tend to have PPS on the higher end of the market, but only meet the price point on sale (which they are often on), I'd think about the Iniu lineup. They're under the price point but have reasonably good ratings and performance.

    Very good video, finally some actual testing! Only issue is that you didn’t test the 2 cables 170W charging mode of the anker. It’s able to be charged at 170W if you plug in TWO cables for charging it, since it’s limited to 140W per port. Since you get to see very few devices with capabilities to be charged faster than 140W, it would be fun and useful to test it!

The pair looks cool and I was surprised that the magnet was so strong. The battery does feel and looks great. It works also very well at 100w without much heat. However do we really need all these fancy display and BT features ? I doubt it and they are more potential points of failure. After using it for a few weeks I will say this is by far my favorite bank to use. I have a bunch of oppo/oneplus devices that use Supervooc (proprietary charging tech) and this is the only battery I’ve seen that does the full 65w that US supervooc allows. Also the app (while questionable) is undeniably a great feature. Minimal battery drain (according to Anker it’s .12mw per hour or so because it uses BT LE)….don’t know if it’s accurate but my favorite feature is a find my battery feature. Anker definitely hit a home run too. Also it’ll fast charge with huawei, ROG 80w, QC5, and most other fast charge standards as well from what I’ve seen (a bit of a tech hoarder here)

I think the ZMI no20 also has this feature but you have to use the 'special' USB A to C cable that comes with the power bank.

    @@AllThingsOnePlace technically speaking supervooc as a charging standard is better than PPS, QC5, and Samsung fast charge just due to the way Chinese manufacturers like oppo, huawei, OP, Vivo design their phones. Unlike with most devices that use one continuous battery cell most of the Chinese phones use dual cell so they can charge 2x+ as fast (120w or higher in some cases) and because it’s two cells they actually age slower than a single cell battery (oneplus rates around 1600 cycles) and they seem to charge at full speed even with screen on (thermal limitations apply). Tested the 250w with oppo, huawei, vivo, oneplus, and a few others. I can confirm that power IQ 2 usb A will supply faster charging than usb c on the same battery….averaging 18-28w for usb c vs 40-65w on usb A. Not sure what Anker is doing but it’s working. Just a little bit of information I felt would be useful

    @@AllThingsOnePlace maybe Anker would have considered 36v 5a if someone already made that type of charger, or maybe they knew the price already and didn't want to tack on more dollars to get full advantage of this power bank.

    I just bought one and on the listing it’s clearly marked that it can do 140 wats out of a single port so I hope that that’s correct and not 100w because I already have a powerbank that does 100w from basseus.

    The anker does 140W on one port.

    Does the Anker produce noise only at certain loads or randomly? Is it coil whine?

    I only heard it while charging at 140 watts, yeah, it sounds like coil whine.

    I would like to use a Powerbank that allows me to play full spec on the ROG Ally (Turbo mode (I guess 30W TDP but it needs to be acting as if it is plugged in at 60-65W)) all the time. Is the fact that the UGREEN slows down after 70% to 50W an issue for this?

    That could become an issue with the UGREEN. The ZMI can hold that power level for a full discharge. The Baseus blades should be able to hold that as well as the 60W Evatronic for some different shaped or more compact options.

    @@AllThingsOnePlaceThanks for the advice! The Anker 737 should also be a possibility, right?

    @@AllThingsOnePlace I do also have a laptop asus g502du and use a dc to type c adapter , normally using a 65w pd charger is enough for it to use but not enough to charge at the same time. Charging wattage is 50w average max 65w on this laptop and my power consumption for the laptop is around 10-15wh do you think baseus blades can keep up with it or the ugreen 145w? btw another side question for when I am not charging my laptop but have a heavy usage. Which one is able to keep for longer at 100w baseus blades or ugreen 145w and they both shutdown when they get hot right no way of them to lower the wattage ? my adaptor is only for pd 100w so wont be benefiting 145w either way and the battery is rated for 78wh
