Just in case you might need the reminder about this. I know I needed to hear it again today
First heard this when I was 16/17 years old, I am 29 years old now.
"Rock out like your dead grandfather came back to take a drive with you in your brand new car" Brings tears to my eyes. And it chokes him up when he says it which makes it better
Still sending this to people after all these years. You haven't lived until this reaches you.
Ever time I hear this I cry. I can’t help but listen to it. I miss my grandfather
Wow. I watched this about 4 years ago, just now coming back and not knowing how much I needed this.

"...and the answer comes. Already am, always was and I still have time to be."
I can understand now why this dude is a national slam champ! Respect.
Will that make me something, will I be something... Chills everytime I'm down
I was there! Anis made me fall in love with spit poetry that night. He is incredible!!!!!
Today is my 35th birthday and I am listening to this in Hawaii so I remember to keep following his direct orders.
I listen to this video once a month, these words are heartbreaking, breathtaking - and inspiring - and they push me, they give me the realization I need to continue. Anis Mojigani, your words have helped me live, and they continue to. Thank you.
"You have been given the direct order to rock the fuck out" is my favorite poem from Anis... I always wanted to see him perform this live. Thanks for sharing!
I watched this in creative writing class almost 7 years ago, and I STILL watch it

Love these poems every time I hear them
I cant describe how i feel when i listen to him in words. Hes sooo inspiring, just amazing
Just because you don't like him, doesn't mean you have the right to judge him. He has helped many people. He has been a friend, a mentor, and an all around swell person. I don't have a sliver of a clue why people leave negative comments, you're only screwing yourself over in the end.
Your poetry has a heartbeat, it is searingly honest, beautiful, warm with kindness, humanity and love. I rocked to Direct Order, walked with you with Here I Am, and cried listening to Shake The Dust.Thank you for sharing your gift with words. Bill Hicks would be proud of you.
he is the most amazing poet i've ever seen. a prophet turning air into music.
God, he's amazing. I always get chills listening to him. I always feel inspired.
I could never get tired of this
this man is truly the people's poet

I am so late coming to this party. I had never heard of this guy. But MY GOD. WOW. Downloading MP3s as I type, adding things to my iPod, gonna carry him around for inspiration.
"Rock out like your dead grandfather just came back to take a drive with you in your brand new car" - That hit me deep, was at my grandfathers funeral earlier today. Was years ago since last I listened to any of Anis' work and somehow I felt the urge to search youtube for him today.....

bawling my eyes out right now.
Enjoyed your passionate reading and unique poems. And your unique word choices enhanced the emotional impact and kept me engaged throughout. I’m a poet specializing in Japanese forms: haiku, tanka, haibun, kyoka, senryu. I hope you don’t mind me sharing a tanka and my haiku, a tribute poem to Bashō’s frog with commentary by the late AHA founder and poet Jane Reichhold who considered my Basho haiku among her top 10 haiku of all time. What an honor. Here’s the Bashō poem and commentary: Bashō’s frog four hundred years of ripples At first the idea of picking only 10 of my favorite haiku seemed a rather daunting task. How could I review all the haiku I have read in my life and decide that there were only 10 that were outstanding? Then realized I was already getting a steady stream of excellent haiku day by day through the AHA forum. The puns and write-offs based on Basho's most famous haiku are so numerous I would have said that nothing new could be said with this method, but here Al Fogel proved me wrong. Perhaps part of my delight in this haiku lies in the fact that I agree with him. Here he is saying one thing about realism-ripples are on a pond after a frog jumps in, but because it refers back to Basho and his famous haiku, he is also saying something about the haiku and authors who have followed him. We, and our work, are just ripples while Basho holds the honor of inventing the idea of the sound of a frog leaping is the sound of water As haiku spreads around the world, making ripples in more and larger ponds, its ripples are wider-including us all. But his last word reminds us all that we are ripples and our lives ephemeral. It will be the frogs that will remain. ~~ And my tanka: returning home from a Jackson Pollock exhibition I smear my face with paint and morph into art ~~ -All love in isolation from Miami Beach, Florida, Al
i am in awe. this was utterly amazing.

Tears of hope and joy streaming down my face.

I just want to listen to his voice...for forever.
he is so amazing.
i love his honesty
wow. super powerful. made me cry
I loved this.
"here i am" love it,cant get enough of it.
Rock Out is one of my hype things I listen to before a game, top 10
I believe it goes something like this: "...And questions are the only answers we need to have to know that we need to have the times of our lives when I have the mind of a child..." But he's getting really into it at that point and it's hard to tell exactly how he had it written down. But he sure as hell got the message across.
I love the way he says notebook.
Completely amazing..
Rock out like you're coming to Memphis, Mr. Mojgani!
2022. Still relevant. More relevant.
agreed. I feel that is a brilliant and powerful line
Woah mind reading of awesomeness. You know things I never mentioned but thanks for adding.
i adore this
"Rock out like the plane is going down and there are 120 passengers and 121 parachutes" i'm stumped on this one
this was amazing
I fell for this. I fell for good poetry, poetry that inspires and encourages. I feel for you my friend, if this doesn't inspire you. What a decrepid soul you must have.
This guy is sick with it!!!
amazing. life-changing.
I am going to go rock out just cause this guy told me to so well
Brought a tear to my eye @ 8:49 amen and goddamn
