@@okand6770 It depends on how it goes when first announced if it looks like Netflix is going to stay true to the books aka don't censor the dark and mature elements basically keep the gory battles, and the whole plot-point of when fighting in a war for survival there is no right or wrong answer then it'll be good. Either way I'm watching it because I'm an Animorphs fan.

@Gryphon Studios Yeah, I didn't understand as a dumb kid, but I finally figured out that Applegate actually portrayed the characters losing their minds and their innocence really well. I admit I also used to hate the last few books, but I've come around to seeing how well the ending was done, actually. No fairytale happy ending, just harsh reality. (Plus it was definitely Rachel's style to go out fighting XD)

Animorphs was one my favorite book series growing up. And I still have yet to read all of them but it was such a good series and was highly underrated. Someone really needs to revive this and make a show again.

That was so cheesy, and half of it didn't rhyme. I love it!

The show suffered from being a 90's low budget standard affair. If it was made with 10x the budget it'd probably be more memorable and have lasted longer. But man, this theme song is great. It's so 90's and yet just cheesy enough to be fuckin awesome.

PrimeSniper7 For sure. A lot of the imagery in the books was left out - not to say that in the books it was some vicious description, but it was a bit more on the PG-13 side, than the PG favoring Nickelodeon surely allowed.

Then the part at the end, where Jake sacrifices a team of crippled kids to distract the visser from his sneaky offensive... which was made possible by blackmailing a prime-directive citing pacifist into walking into a hail of dracon fire, pretending to be the main force mounting a last stand. (Which then led to a mass execution of yeerk prisoners, leaving him horrified.)

@@dcast781227 90s definitely. Smartphones look terrible on screen. Also the storyline is reliant on the lack of Internet, smartphones and easy communication or the Animorphs would communicate a lot easier than having to hang out in a room to have secret meetings. Seeing a Whatsapp chat group substitute that is such shitty writing. Also it adds a lot of complications to both sides to reach out and form groups to aid to their cause a whole lot easier. Maybe as a spin-off movie or OVA to explore those themes but to put it in the main series would have to see villains and protagonists stupidly ignore those advantages till the finale.

It's been almost a decade since I've last read this series, so please forgive me for any mistakes, but who's to say that the Yeerks didn't have a skilled hacker that could infiltrate the secret online meetings? If I remember right, the alien guy (Ax?) wrote a super advanced code into Marco's(?) dad's computer and also is seen hacking a satellite to contact his home planet several times. And considering they had faster-than-light travel AND a morphing box, I think we can safely say that these guys are a lot more advanced than us even after 20-30 years of technological progress. Using the Internet for meetings about aliens is practically suicidal, especially if they weren't using a secret code language, which could also probably be cracked and makes them look more suspicious, to boot XD

honestly I do believe this series has a lot of potential to make a absolute come back. I know the author has made a couple updated books from the series but the fandom is still being quiet. The concept is still appealing to me and with modern times I think a tv series accurate to the book series could give the justice it deserves. or maybe some people of DeviantArt could make a fan comic series series or even some animations. something! if hate to see this series die more than it already has. GIVE ANIMORPHS JUSTICE!!!!!!

Perhaps animated? with the right voice, actors to really sell it.

I really wish Animorphs had lasted longer, the TV show was great, making you look at the books as a comparison. The script was amazing, and even though it was low budget, was realistic in the fact that the characters were acting as they did in the books. Not many movies or TV shows do that anymore, they just make up plots, and leave out important clips.

And unless it was a very realistic animation (at the time out of the question for a TV show), pretty much impossible to give off the same vibe as a cartoon. Pretty much doomed to fail.

I can't remember where I read it but years ago back when it was still on TV I searched all over google to find out. Again, I can't remember where I found it, or if it's even accurate, but the page I found said they were called 'The Guardians' This song was PERFECT for the show and honestly great for working out. They definitely deserve more credit and a recording deal.

Legend has it that Destery Smith still is pissed off that this show was cancelled

When i was younger sometimes i would end up randomly waking up at like 5 in the morning and i wouldnt be able to sleep so id turn on qubo and watch animorphs, all i remember about it is that some lady turned into an alien and i got scared

Even though they look very different I pictured this cast when I read the books

When( not if!!!) they finally decide to make a proper animorphs reboot.... They had better use this theme song 🙂 the books are the best thing that ever has happened to me.

And...now they're making a movie. It'll be surprisingly good, I bet...special effects will give Andalites, Ellimist, Yeerks & Hork-bajir the visuals they need...imagine the fight scenes... Damn...all those memories flooding back. Remember those androids that were built to be an utter terrors, so they programmed themselves to be pacifists, because of fear & shame ? There were some decent concepts in this series.

They seriously need to bring this show back! I rented the videos from library years ago (back when I still had VHS), but somebody seriously did NOT take care of them, so they were hard to watch.

I agree, Animorphs was one of my favorite books series when I was growing up. Seeing a new and updated adaptation of the show would be awesome. I can even think of a few actors to cast in the team.

Lol same actually, I think this series is what got me into the habit of reading.

Say what you will about the quality of this show, Lord knows I have, but the theme song was a bop. Also, I like how the girl playing Rachel just looks at the camera like, "come at me, bro". That fits really well with her characterization in the books, which the show was otherwise weak on.

This concept is defo needed again. I always though this would make a great cartoon, not big enough for the budget for a tv show but could be animated to be very good

One of my favorite book series growing up! Loved the Animorphs!

I remember when the Animorphs books use to be real popular when I was in middle school. I watched the series sometimes even though I really wasnt a big fan of it.

The Nostalgia and memories for a lot of us 80s-90s kids They couldn’t have picked a better cast and soundtrack that reminisced with our feelings growing up. Wish we had an ending to this series.

I started reading these books when they first came out in '96 and I remember screaming and scaring my mama when the TV show started years later!!

This show was awesome !

This series saved me in so many ways.. It gave me hope in a dark time, and gave me something to focus my attention on.. It inspired me to read and to try writing, the power the author had creating worlds and evoking emotions with words, was nothing short of godlike for its time. It didn't pull punches, it forced us to face uncomfortable truths and in some cases prepared some of us children for the future unlike so many other novels or sources of its time.. I'm now 40, and honestly I can say, this is my call back for childhood, I would love nothing more than a proper reboot of the series before I die, it would complete my childhood in so many ways, and it would give me something GOOD to allow my children to watch and learn from if i'm being honest. I intend to read the series to them as well

I want an anime version of animorphs that will last as long as the books if not longer and be able to tell the story in a satisfying way 🙂

I loved that show

It's been 20 years since the series ended. Special effects are WAY better and budgeting should be better as well. I think the tv series deserves a reboot *BUT ONLY IF ITS MORE FAITHFUL TO THE BOOKS.* Just...for the love of god...DON'T do a movie. If they try to make a movie I will scream. YOU CANT SQUEEZE 54-60 BOOKS INTO A FEW MOVIES AND EXPECT IT TO BE A HIT. THAT'S NOT A THING THAT HAPPENS.

Looking back this show is pretty uninspiring, but darn it if I don't get an endorphin rush hearing the song :) Cheesy and low-budget as this was, it's responsible for me reading the books. My cousin tricked me into watching it when I was 7 and I was hooked. Borrowed the first book from her shortly thereafter. A lot of kids nowadays have Harry Potter to thank for getting them into reading? For me, it was Animorphs.

I can't remember specifically what got me into reading. I just always loved it. Always had my nose in a book. Read almost half the books in the primary school library before I left that school. I even found a few Animorphs books. Yes, Harry Potter has played an enormous role in my life, but I'd say Narnia is probably more to blame for my reading habits as a child. If it had magic, animals, and/or adventure, I was almost guaranteed to be hooked. Lol

As a kid I used to get the next book in the series at every Scholastic book fair back in elementary school in the 90s, I had a bunch of them can't remember the exact number, but then my mom was clearing out stuff and donated them thinking I didn't want them anymore and it was legit upsetting. 😭 I so wish I could do a reread with the original books!
