    Yeah it'll definitely gather the fandoms that these different animes have. Maybe for episode 2 you should review the Akira game on the famicom. I bought a load of titles while in Japan at the moment, but haven't managed to buy a famicom yet, whoops!

    +Game Sack I really do like the film, the game is made by Taito but it sadly got bad reviews much like the other Akira games which were released. Seems to be more of a option/storytelling game, but I really like the music!

    If you ever do another anime and manga episode, I definitely know one game I'd recommend wholeheartedly: Kyattou Ninden Teyandee for the Famicom, based on an anime that we here in the English-speaking world know better as Samurai Pizza Cats. It's a Tecmo platformer that's clearly very heavily inspired by Mega Man and the like, and it's honestly a REALLY DAMNED GOOD GAME, with fantastic graphics and music, great gameplay with really varied levels, and some of the best between-level cutscenes on the whole of the NES. I can pretty much guarantee you guys would like it, as there's really nothing it does poorly aside from maybe being a little less challenging than it could've been. Really, really good game all around!

    You'd need another weekly show to cover anime-based games. Magic Knight Rayearth, Lodoss War, Slayers Royal, Tenchi Muyo, and Sailor Moon come to mind for the SNES alone. Then there are all the Dragon Ball games, all the One Piece games, the Bleaches, the Lodoss for the Dreamcast, the Macross / Robotech games... the list goes on and on.

    Another great video! I'm actually going to be doing a whole marathon of vids covering Hokuto no Ken games, there are actually some gems to be found from that series. Btw, in HnK on the Famicom, hold A & B and press up to enter doors, it'll lead you in circles unless you're powered up, that's the only way to get tothe boss characters actually.Plenty of games based on Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho and Naruto, some of them are actually pretty damn good too.

  • @RyumaXtheXKing
    @RyumaXtheXKing9 жыл бұрын

    In Shaman King you will find a spirit that will let you skip levels that you already beat. It should've been introduced sooner, but it is there. Another good thing about the game is that it's actually based upon the manga and not the anime, since the latter changed a few things from its original. Personally, I really enjoy the music since it really fits the atmosphere. You should also look up the battle ofthe final boss since the background is fantastic. Also, also, it's really interesting that Konami made so many castlevania-like license games. TMNT: Radical Rescue and Hunter x Hunter on the GBC play very much like a Castlevania.

    Nothing like a Game Sack episode to start my day~ Hey Dave, Since you're the one covering GBA games, make sure to try out Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure next time! It's a great game although a bit short and easy for platforming veterans... But I honestly think that DBAA is the best Dragon Ball game I've ever played! (And yes, I've played all of the Butouden, Budokai, Budokai Tenkaichi and Hypersonic Warriors games, and none of them can touch Advanced Adventure in my opinion) The GBA is also home of a very nice Action RPG based on Dragon Ball Z called "Legacy of Goku 2"

Kinnikuman Grand Prix Max 2 (PS2) Galactic Wrestling (PS2) Dragon Ball Z Attack of the Saiyans (DS) Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure (GBA) Blood Will Tell (PS2) DevilMan (PS1) Kyatto Ninden Teyandee (Samurai Pizza Cats) (Famicom) Melty Blood (PC/PS2) Full Metal Alchemist and the Broken Angel (PS2) Full Metal Alchemist 2 Curse of The Crimson Elixir (PS2) Orphen: Scion of Sorcery (PS2) Fist of the North Star: Kens Rage (PS3/360) I'm sure the list can go on forever, but I don't wanna get too wordy, I think Joe would like Blood Will Tell and Dave would like Samurai Pizza Cats, but that's for you fine folks to decide =p! PS: I wanted to get a copy of Noobow after last episode but MAN that game is expensive, so I guess I have to pass =( lol.

    There was a time where I was dipping into indie stuff on PC. Another random exploration game that made me question my efforts is Polychromatic Funk Monkey (PFM). I don't know if the dev of PFM still does this, but if you completed the game, you could create a message that would be sent to the dev and a sign post randomly placed in the game that could be viewed by any player.

    "anime" and "manga" can refer to media made outside of Japan, therefore, "anime" and "manga" can't on their own specify media from Japan.

    I remember being very impressed with Astroy Boy: Omega Factor. After you reach a certain point in the story and meeting a key character, the gameplay incorporated this time travelling element in the form of a stage select, which had you hunting down certain mysteries and saving other characters from Osamu Tezuka's "multiverse" before getting the true ending. Also, Treasure snuck in a certain song from Gunstar Heroes in the epilogue chapter of the game, which was pretty cool.

    I remember when Berserk came out one of the selling points was that the sword would hit the wall, which was a novel concept for interaction and was supposed to add a layer of strategy to the game.

    Dave, the sky stage in UN Squadron is the best. The boss song goes great with B-2 Stealth Bombers you face. Makes it a very intense fight.

    If you had made it farther in Shaman King: Master of Spirits, you would know that you later get a dragon spirit that can transport you anywhere you have previously been. This feature also returns in the sequel.

    I'm really glad you covered Astro Boy Omega Factor, one of the best GBA games I think was ever made, but I'd like to point one thing out about "looking up more on series". All the characters in Omega Factor are from multiple manga drawn by Osamu Tezuka, not just Astro Boy. The storyline in the game is mostly original taking a few cues from some old stories. The game was meant to tie in with the 2003 anime series, but not directly follow it. The first boss of the game was the enemy for Astro in the first episode. Basically, each time a new Astro Boy property is made, the overall story is never the same. Only Astro's origins are kept intact. If you look at the Omega Factor character roster in the game, you can read on where each character originated from as well as a short biography, and that's probably as much 'looking up on the series' as you really need, unless you start trying to find manga never published in English.

    There is a Hokuto no Ken based arcade game known as Fighting Mania in europe. The special thing about this game is that instead of having standard controls you have round punching areas on the side of the screen and you have to punch them (yes, with your real fist) when thesy are up (but not when they are still going up). I really liked this game but I understand that it could be a bit difficult to cover.

    Great episode as usual!!! Since you asked, here are some games I think would be pretty amazing if you touched on the next time you cover this topic: Zillion I and II (SMS), Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked (PS2), and Lupin the Third: Treasure of the Sorcerer King (PS2). If I remember correctly, I think Spell Caster (SMS) and Mystic Defender (MD) were both originally based on an anime in their original incarnations. There are a crap ton on the TG-16 as well. Keep up the great work! I love that you're doing episodes weekly now!
