Animating 2D Anime Grass Field Using After Effects

Фильм және анимация

This is a follow up tutorial of my video on animating anime style leaves and foliage. In this tutorial, I am showing how to animate 2d anime style grass field using After Effects. The effect filters I used in After effects are CC Bend It and Turbulent Displace. They are default filters that came pre-install with AE.

wow, okami styled ending! seems like Issun is giving us a recap! For the depth, an alternate physically realistic option would be: 1. Turn the layer into a 3d layer, once the bend animation is applied. 2. Duplicate the layers as many times as you want. Just make sure to move these layers in Z space. 3. Add a 35mm cam. Open Camera Options from the layer, then enable Depth of Field. 3. All layers moved forward (towards +ve Z direction) will have a camera defocus that's physically accurate! Automatically! I also liked the comparisons you showed for the wiggle parameters, it will be very helpful for beginners to understand the difference between frequency and amplitude.

Can I ask how much resolution is enough to have a beautiful Anime style Background like you? Which type is possible to set as desktop wallpaper? This question is for Photoshop CC. For me 1920x1080, 300ppi is fine with 12GB RAM Laptop. But when increased more than 3 times like 6400x3600, 300ppi, it started to slow down when drawing. Is 1920x1080 pixels enough? Should I use 300ppi or 72ppi? Can you allow me to refer to your specs? Thank you!! :'>

it depend on what you want to do with your artwork later. For print, you want higher resolution / dpi. For video, if the bg is not scale / zoom. Then you can work with the video resolution. Most of the time, I just do 1920x1080 or 1920x1440 72dpi, if it is photo paint over from my phone, the resolution is double of 1080p, around 3840x2160 or 3840x2880

There are also a lot of misinformation about dpi online. Basically if you already set your document in pixel, changing the dpi doesnt change anything. dpi only matter if your document is in units like CM/MM/Inch

For "Turbulence Displace" effect, Go to "Evolution Options", Enable the "Cycle Evolution". Then, every complete 360 turn for "Evolution", the pattern will go back to the first frame
