Learn how to do a DIY superhero landing effect in Adobe After Effects in our latest tutorial! With everyone stuck at home due to the coronavirus, here's a trick video effect you can try in your garden or just outside your front door - landing like a superhero! This is often seen in films such as Hancock and Marvel's Avengers films with characters such as Iron Man and Thor where a superhero falls from the sky and lands causing some damage and cracking the ground in an epic 'hero' pose!
Made using both practical and digital elements (from Footage Crate and Video Copilot's action essentials), and some creative compositing in Adobe After Effects. See the finished effect here: • SUPERHERO LANDING EFFE...

A useful and competent explanation, so I tried it and it turned out that everything works fine. Special thanks to the author for such useful content.
Just awesome, don't have any another word to describe it. Thanks for making it so much accessible, I mean the great effects we see in movies.
That was a lot of fun to see your process. With a simple, yet comprehensive, explanation.
you're a great teacher, love the simplicity, with details! subbed!
Your efforts, your work, can be seen in us.
The tutorial is solid and the effect looks good! If I would improve anything I would experiment cutting out a frame or two from your landing jump right before the impact to the ground to make the lnding feel more powerful. Now it looks like you’re fall is slowing down before hitting the ground

To everyone wanting to know the software used - Adobe After Effects CC for building the effect, then Premiere Pro CC for the sound design. No they are not free, you can buy them from Adobe.com 👍
Hey Steve! I've started learning VFX and thought I would give this a go as my first video. I used my nephew instead of me because they love their super hero movies. It's the only video on my new channel (this one) and would love your feedback! Not sure if I can link videos in comments. Your channel has given me inspiration to start VFX, so thanks mate! Just pay attention to his mouse click because every click make a difference to the en results. And sometimes he says it so fast you may not even realize it.
