@justin newcomb they should be allowed to live freely in the forest which is their real habitat. Imaging someone holding you in captive and keeping you imprisoned your whole life. How would you feel? Try to grow to be empathetic to other lives as well.

​@@justinmichaelnewcombIt's easy for you to talk like that cause you're not an animal living in a zoo or an old person who has to live in an elderly home. There are also families who let the elderly stay at their homes, think that's a better option if that's a possibility. Wild animals should live more freely if they anyways don't need rehabilitation. They should live in the wild and we should have park guards that keep them safe. There are movies to watch if you want to educate yourself on animals. We don't need an unnecessary zoo for that purpose.

Just when you think you have every possible escape route blocked, the animals will try something new. They challenge us humans as to who is the dominant species. I also never knew pandas were curious enough to try to escape.

We have pictures of animals we don't need zoo. If you want to see animals go on a trip to their natural habitat. It's so sad to see such intelligent species being treated like commodities for the enjoyment of some bipedal apes

There is a robot project that has that exact goal. I guess it's not very successful yet? But the robots look very realistic. And I rather visit that kind of zoo honestly. 🙂

@@Readysetgo2007 I don’t really find them scary looking at all. Just a little weird and interesting. But I mean, it’s a damn aquatic animal that probably weighs less than 50 pounds, now on the floor of some restaurant or something where there’s a bunch of people surrounding it. No reason at all you should be fearing for your life in that situation lol. If anything, the cephalopod probably was.

Can't blame them thwy don't belong in a cage-period. 🙄

While yeah a lot of animals don’t thrive in zoos, keep in mind quite a few zoos have animals that were either rescued or born in captivity. Setting them free would even more destructive to their standard of living.

​@@metalheadgamer6666No? Animals get stressed from zoos and in A LOT of cases live in bad conditions and a lot even end up starving and being killed. Zoos are fucking terrible, there are better places where they can be taken care of that is not used as an enjoyment park for animals. Also don't forget that zoos intentionally breed animals to put them in captivity. Imagine being born into a fucking prison

Usually zoos are not that spacious. Also More of cement and xoncrete, less of their natural habitat. Anybody would want to escape.

This was great.

We had a Silverback named Bokito escaping his enclosure in Rotterdam Zoo years ago. He went straight for a woman who visited him daily and who was under the impression that they ‘had a bond’. Well…..she barely survived his attack of bites all over her body and fractured bones from the tearing and dragging he did! Mind you: he could have easily ended her life there but he didn’t. Bokito lost interest, walked away from her, was tranquilized and captured again. He still lives at the same Zoo, as the leader of his family.

@@guineapig0983 Yep, and since then there are signs all over the enclosure to not do that. Also: The zoo (and many others) also had to enlarge the ditch surrounding the outside part of the ‘Gorilla House and Island’ to make it wider than the 6 meters it was. (They had electric fencing as well, still didn’t stop Bokito.) It was said that the experts thought that 6 meters would be enough to stop the apes from crossing it, because of their dislike of water. The woman thought he was smiling back, but in reality the showing of teeth (aka the smiling here) is a sign of aggression. So he felt threatened and because she came over every single day, he only got more angry and frustrated….

He probably just saw no point in continuing on to 100% finish the job because she was already immobilized and at the brink of death. They’re not predators, and once they see you’re not at all a potential threat anymore then they may just move on. That gorilla was probably just incredibly stressed and going ape shit in that moment. It also helps that they are not exactly the most efficient killers.

If you were a prisoner in a human zoo wouldn't you want to escape! They don't know why they must be there, as if they should be made to feel guilty about doing something they didn't do.

Even most animals know they don't belong in Zoos just for the sake of human entertainment. You always see gorillas get highly aggitated when the human faces are gawking at them through the glass. These are completely unnatural habitats. People really are a horrible species. 😢

@Readysetgo2007 Many zoos have behind-the-scenes (non public) areas where animals can go to be alone and peaceful. There are also areas within the exhibit that aren’t easy to see at first glance

If this doesn't tell you that Zoos are prisons nothing will. Animals do not belong in cages!! I SUPPORT ALL THOSE TRYING TO ESCAPE. I freaking hate zoos. They should be banned and abolished.

I don't blame them, because they want their freedom. Here in the states the law has bad habit of murdering the poor animals if they escape from a zoo, carnival or a circus. The people who lock these beautiful beings up in cages need to have the same damned treatment done to them. I know that if I was at the Dallas Zoo and one the animals escaped the enclosure in which it was being held against its will, I would not panic and run, nope, instead I would just enjoy being there and walking around with it.
