Ani Kavafian & Melvin Chen, on Hélène Grimaud & Bach's Chaconne

Internationally renowned pianist Hélène Grimaud will appear in recital here next Wednesday, Jan. 31. In addition to music by Beethoven and Brahms, Grimaud will perform Busoni's arrangement of J.S. Bach's Chaconne from the Violin Partita in D minor, BWV 1004. We sat down with Professor in the Practice of Violin Ani Kavafian, who described Grimaud as "a really formidable interpreter" who has demonstrable “technical prowess,” and Professor in the Practice of Piano Melvin Chen, who said Grimaud "has her own viewpoint about the music. She feels very strongly about it. She has a very clear idea of what she wants in the music and is able to portray it." You do not want to miss this concert!
