    idk, he didn't seem too happy there lol. But in general yeah, he needs that. He just made himself a whole tournament that ended the other day because he's turning into Bobby Fischer with being sick of the traditional style of chess and the boring theory bullshit. He was already the goat at making people play out of theory where possible, but that apparently wasn't good enough. So then you have Ding Liren in this Magnus-made Chess 960 tournament who's supposed to be the world chess champ and he has the most abysmal fucking performance a champion has probably ever had, and in hindsight if Magnus was petty enough I could have seeen this whole thing being made just to make his point about too much theory and put Ding to shame.

    @justintharp5652 Omg you Magnus fans are the worst. You’re disrespectful mate, this kid plays chess all his life all day every day just like Magnus and many others. If you had enough of chess knowledge you would know that it’s impossible to cheat on these types of events. Denis had laptop camera and another camera recording him from the side, and the screen. And that’s a standard for these online events otherwise no super GM would participate. Also if you had enough knowledge you would know that these kids can beat anyone on any certain day. Pragg beat Wesley when he was almost 300 elo points lower rated, years back.

  • @AMatterOfTechnique

    @AMatterOfTechnique

    @@zvezdanjasovic3185 Of course it is still possible to cheat in those online events. That's why Nepo made some tweets and leaked his personal conv with MVL where they are suspecting both Jospem & Lazavik. They ask to see your screens during the games but there are no rules about audio for instance. If you are not convinced, you can check GM Aleksandr Rakhmanov last stream who participated in this event and who explained how those rules are not enough. I'm not accusing anyone btw but you should avoid saying to someone multiple times "if you had enough of chess knowledge" when you clearly don't too

    @@hon3220this is a huge misconception. The play of world champions throughout history is still considered top engine play by the strongest versions of Stockfish. These weren’t cavemen playing chess. Not only did they play at engine level without engines existing, but they figured out everything that engines show us today through their raw chess talent itself. There might have been slight changes to opening theory, but that doesn’t matter as much when you invented it, for the engines to then confirm you were correct a century later. If you ask me, that’s the impressive part.

    I think this is a perfect example of how the gifted young chess players have taken advantage of computers, chess engines, analysis, and online chess, not to mention the chance to play and study chess 16 hours a day during COVID over the last few years. They have had powerful teaching instruction and analysis tools that the older players simply didn't have, and there are many of them all over the world. The Indian contingent is a perfect example. I suppose you could say they are cheating in the sense that they have been optimizing the use of technology to get much better much younger than past players, but that's about it. And that's perfectly legal and expected. These youngsters aren't just 'very good'. They are already pounding on the doors of the SuperGM's. Chess has shifted into high gear in the computer age. It has attained what people refer to as 'the next level'. We are watching it happen in real-time.

  • @ushift

    @ushift

    It's probably not as cool as you think lol. The better you get at something more your brain simplifies the activity. So you might think it would be like some crazy x -> x, like a war going on in their head or like beautiful mind-like numbers running across the screen, but it is closer to how you don't think of pedals/ feet when you ride a bike. That's why you get a lot of talented players stating that it felt like that was the right move. The reasons they arrive at the answer may be apparent later. But during a game, your brain would limit the possibilities to the moves that make sense to it. Chess is more of a pattern recognition game than anything. So it's like you remembering that random fact you learned during trivia night. Then after that to complicate it even more there is structure, theory, etc which limits you to specific choices that will lead to consistent wins. That's how you get I felt it was the right move as the essence of chess brilliance and I was looking to create a good end game/gain an advantage due to x and x as the main way chess gms approach the game. Extremely boring visually.
