The home ground is much less of a factor as the lack of travel. Non Melbourne teams travel every second week.

That home Ground is usually the MCG. 'Away' games are usually 'quasi-Home' games for Melbourne based clubs. A sweet little advantage.

not a richmond fan but do admire this coach's direct-speech & honesty. yze gets the most out of his players despite not having the list he'd like. any fan would be pleased with that effort & ethical leadership. if I watch richmond versus any other vic club, I will be cheering these boys on. respect.

Roos fan here. If I was a tigers fan I would feel proud with how hard they have fought this year. Totally devastated by injury and they still have a fair crack most games.

He is being paid very big money and he has a group of players that will only get better when you consider the young academy talent they have drafted in recent years and will again in this year's draft. The Gold Coast will become a real Premiership threat on the back of that, so Dimma won't be leaving before his contract is up.

In all the years John Longmire has been in Sydney no-one has heard him speak that way publicly. Bad language is everywhere, it's not required in press conferences Dimma and is not professional, so get over yourself. He's got a point, interstate teams have it way more harder than Victorians. Before you jump down my throat I'm a Victorian supporting a Victorian team so that is one thing I do acknowledge that they have to travel way more than us, doesn't make it easy for them.

Gold Coast can't even beat the lowly North Melbourne. If Gold Coast want to truly make a finals series in the future they need to win away from home ground.

The Suns gets the advantage of playing up North where the ball is like a bare of soap and they take those wins to get better they need to train on better ground and better conditions and then they might win a game in Melbourne

Richmond played 14 games at the MCG in 2022, 13 in 2023 and have 13 in 2024……not sure how that makes an average of 15 which Cornes repeatedly mentioned. If you are going to quote a stat repeatedly it’s not a bad idea to get it right…..just sayin.

It's a round up; if they played finals in those years it would be 15 at the G (not to mention a few more at Marvel each year). His broader point is about Dimma not having to travel - do you really get hung up on whether the precise average is quoted accurately in lieu of addressing the point? Just sayin.

CCJ is absolutely useless. One of the big trade errors Rawlings has made. I doubt he plays another game for North. Teakle has shown more in a couple of games for North than CCJ has in his entire time at North. He'll be delisted when his contract expires.

It’s all factual from literally a decade and half of examples from this sook. I swear and make any sailor blush but I wouldn’t be doing it on tv at a press conference as an afl coach. And plenty of other coaches who have been in the role almost as long don’t, so there’s no excuse from him. It was clear as day he had every intention on saying it and him saying excuse it doesn’t excuse it. People only liked him due to success in that time, outside that time, and as a person, there’s not a whole lot, or much of anything, to like about Damien Hardwick.

All teams are 'interstate' teams.

Geelong gets 9 home games and 6 interstate games and no home finals, so Kane's comments don't apply to all Victorian clubs

Interstate teams+ Geelong get a true home ground advantage for around 12 games. Thats a huge advantage and much better advantage than Melbourne teams get. Teams need around 12 games + one or 2 away wins gets you in finals, This is why interstate teams (and Geelong) often perform well during the season, finish in the 8, but crash out of the finals.

@@jarradbaker8200 The difference is that they are accumulating a large number of first round draft picks from their academy. Those player won't have the go home factor. Four first rounders last year and likely to be another two this year and who knows what will come after that.

IMHO he is not being a sook! He's saying it as it is. Not accepting mediocrity and admits his role to fix it.

As a Hawthorn man, I think Hardwick is not a sook. He wears his heart on his sleeve and puts a 100% into his job. The man has been involved in probably 6 or 7 premiership wins with, is it Port Adelaide? Essendon, Hawthorn and Richmond. To knock this guy who came out of a sunny holiday and semi-retirement to help the Suns is idiotic. I'm more concerned that Dimma looks after himself because he's been at the top end of everything for a long time. You can't knock his methods. Give the man some respect. He's up there with Leigh Matthews and Clarko. Probably one of the three best coaches in the last 40 years. He was a great player too. What the hell is the matter with some of you ppl on Nine?
