Yeah I would have figured it was more purposeful and nerdy and dry music-theory kind of composition but I guess he's on a level where that's baked in naturally. Also it's funny that David said "That's Twin Peaks" because that sad-then-bright-then-sad is sort of the way you feel across it.

You can clearly see that he is telling the words in the exact same way that Lynch spoke it to him. He's so to say back in that moment. It's coming from his own audiovisual "memory", like it would come from an audio recorder.

I love how this song represents the duality of Laura. In the begining we can feel the mood of Laura in the woods at night and perceive the darkness from her soul, later we get closer to the climax and we understand where all the pain and sorrow comes from, then the climax resolves beautifully, just like Laura, because after all she was just a beautiful girl whose life was tacken away.

Rest easy, Angelo. My mother never had the stomach to be able to sit through Twin Peaks. But as a classical cellist, she is always more than happy to sit down and listen through the original soundtrack with me. Your work has given me some of the most crucial bonding experiences with my mother. Anytime I watch this video with her we’re both in tears by the end. I can’t thank you enough for your work.

Apparently, Twin-Peaks-related KZread comment threads are the good part of the internet (or maybe Twin Peaks fanatics are just the good part of humanity). I love seeing all of this heartfelt appreciation for two of my favorite artists, Lynch and Badalamenti. 🏔🏔❤️

Watching this now is so emotional, not just because of the Laura Palmer story and the music itself, but the nostalgia we get of watching Twin Peaks for the first time, so long ago, and how special that time of our lives was.
