So true, I could not have said it better, even when she was a child she didn't wear shoes on stage after she met a homeless, shoeless young girl on the streets. I think she was around 6 years old when this occurred.

Angelina is a legend. She is a child prodigy that became one of the most talented vocalists of all time. I’m so excited for her first album. She is truly sensational. ❤️🦶🏻👸🏻

What an amazing person! So talented and beautiful and at the same time so humble and positive.

We angels didn't learn of Angelina performing at The Asian American Awards on December 19, 2022 in Los Angeles, until after it happened. I got worried when I heard Angelina say her album was coming out next year but this was back in 2022. Angelina did well with this interview and will continue to become more comfortable doing interviews with more experience.

Yup seems way more nervous doing this than singing for sure, but who wouldn't be nervous doing that. She like you said, just needs to do them, then think back on them and go, 'welp, not bad and that's as bad as I'll get', and she'll get comfy in no time. However, god damn what's with the insanely tough questions. Poor girl has to answer what being Asian means to her for a bunch of proud Asians, that's terrifying. She should have elbowed him in the nose and said karate bitch. Good job though, I mean that's about it, be proud of who you are, no matter who or what that entails. What else is there besides divisiveness, competitiveness or supremacy, and she has her other 3/4's to be cognizant of, not being too descriptive as to tell Asians how to Asian either. Suppose it's alright this way, it's been a long time, she was not comfortable in parts answering questions lately, life's complicated as a teenager, that headstrong kid with a beautiful heart has to be more careful now, hasn't been in the swing of things with this interview nonsense since she was like 9. So baptism by fire with ridiculous questions like that maybe helps her longer term to be comfy and ready for any of that. Now that people will judge everything she says as an adult, I'd only advise her to be confident, she's in the right in her heart every time she's shown it, and the whole world is full of shit so it's all good. When in doubt, tell them you haven't got a response for that and would prefer to think about that one. She does not need to be our perfect angel, her heart remains in the right place? Good then any thing can be corrected or defended. Except maybe elbowing people in the face for racist humor. That was an exaggeration and bad joke about his ridiculous question he shouldn't even ask a 100% Japanese kid who grew up in Japan. Glad she nailed it, another irrelevant question exposed as useless.

@@ryanjacob3338 I doubt Angelina would have it but maybe her manager should be on hand to butt in using the excuse that he's there in case she needs a translator. Plenty of barely 17-year-olds would have difficulty articulating a good answer to such a question even in their first language. As everything she says or does starts to become a matter of record, someone needs to protect her from answering or failing to answer a question that could haunt her.

How great Angelina, she is wonderful, her singing, always so humble, appreciating people, so educated, true, is admirable, what a pride, Angelina forever...

How can someone be so talented and so humble. To watch the teenager in Angelina fawn all over her idols is a sight to behold, especially considering not only does she belong in this group of idols, but she is also most likely a step above all those in the room. I keep getting conflicting signals as to when Angelina Jordan will release her first album, this year, next year, but it's all good. As long as Angelina is healthy and happy, what more could Angels ask for. Cheers!

Angelina handled herself with class and dignity. Those questions were really tough yet she answered in such a humble way and the answers were very thoughtful and astute. What a pro!

She is so genuine! She doesn’t seem to realize just what a shining star she is to the world. May God protect her.

Angelina seemed calm and certain of herself. She was not speaking rapidly. But Angelina sounded like she knew what she wanted to say in reply to each of the questions, and she went ahead and said exactly what she wanted to express. Also, when Angelina was listening to the interviewer talk and ask questions, her body posture was relaxed and her attention was fully on the interviewer (except when she got distracted by something else going on). I am imagining that after the interview was over. Angelina felt it had gone well.

She simply is so inspiring , however my heart sank when she said next year for her album release....then I read a comment below about it being a December interview.....I really can't wait!! We all love watching her perform via her video's ( and the lucky ones who saw her live ) but walking along the road with headphones on and hearing her absolutely unique voice is heaven and beyond...so healing to the mind.

You should see her performances from Norway's Got Talent when she was 7. She won btw.

It's nice to hear her speak English without an accent or inflection as many Japanese from Japan have. She is so humble and pleasant for such a worldly singer. We are the lucky few that have discovered and follow her.

I am smitten with this girl and her talent

The only 'Child Star' that I can equate with Angelina is Judy Garland and especially when she performed in the feature film 'The Wizard Of Oz', which also revealed her innate ability as a great actress that continued on a parallel level with her singing throughout a long career. However, with regard to versatility in different genres, as great as Judy was as a singer, I have to lean more toward Angelina being my favorite of the two. On the acting side of the ledger, Angelina still needs time for us, the public, to determine her capabilities in that venue, but I will say that the way Angelina is able to apply her 'story telling' ability, when singing heartfelt ballads, that sound as if she, as a singer, actually lived the 'story lines' of the adult themes presented in the songs, I equate that as being 'on par' with great film acting and she truly has proven to excel at that.

Judy Garland struggled in her personal life from an early age. The pressures of early stardom affected her physical and mental health from the time she was a teenager. Throughout her adulthood she was plagued by alcohol and substance abuse, as well as financial instability. Thankfully Angelina's family protected her childhood and prioritize her education.

I hope this was from 2022 since she said the album would be coming out next year. - I looked it up and it was Dec. 18, 2022.

From what I understand, labels send out promo cds to various people in the industry prior to album release.

@@chaddy-me-boy8299 Haha Larry Bird, Steve Nash, or at least they were worthy. The correct answer is who cares, but yet I know because we have strange brains that care about that stuff. Anyway of course it was a dumb question to answer. I think it's a great question to get to know someone though, and people will know she's a universal thinking person interested more in humanity than a specific sect. As we all should be by now. It is backwards, but it was also Asian heritage celebrations right. We are all very different individual people, who struggle not to lump everyone else in categories for the ease of it, despite knowing better, that's at best. At least she handled it well, bought herself some time, and ended up nailing it really. Here's what bugs me. Is this a guy interested in getting people to put their foot in their mouth and getting to tear them down? Does she get ragged on if she tries and fails miserably to answer it more specifically, panics, gets called fake this or that, says something awful? I mean we got her back anyway and this kid could recover from anything, but loaded questions are disingenuous by nature. Fakes trying to expose fakes generally, their only solace. Today's climate seems to be a bit rough for kids to be answering questions like that. I hope his intent was not to catch people he can tear down, because that only deserves pity and disrespect. Hopefully he was kind enough to let people choose to be left off the internet if they choked on that question, and was looking for some real wise and thoughtful answers.

Still a teenager, folks. Despite being a veteran performer, she still gets excited when she sees a celebrity.

It is interesting that Angelina says her mother is half Japanese (I did not know that before but there is speculation) and of course we know one of her grandmothers is a famous Iranian artist. All that ethnic information is private and respected but since she sings about her grandfather in Million Miles we may as well know a little more about her family. I am dying to hear her new album next year and hopefully some concerts this year. Love the interview.

There's some interview with uncle Michael, so we knew about his (and Angelina's mother) background. They was born in Japan and moved to Norway when he was a teenager. He said he speak four language, Japanese, Farsi (Iranian), English and Norwegian.

@@tomwhite4736 I think, if you keep digging, you will find that her father is Swedish and her mother is Japanese/Persian. That would make Angelina 1/2 Swedish, 1/4 Persian, and 1/4 Japanese. Enjoy your search. It's a great way to stumble upon little bits of otherwise unknown information.

FYI internet says Steven Lim is 6ft tall... Angelina is standing slightly further back and appears to be taller then him.. Could be the heels... What shoes is she wearing here? lol - just trying to confirm her height. lol

As I recall from earlier clips of this the white dress completely goes down to the carpet covering her feet , but I did get a quick look and I believe she was wearing a low sandle type footwear not heels .

I’m as supportive as most everyone else is, my first critical post, this clip was disappointing, but of my own doing. We have seen her sing repeatedly on YT and she moves us, but can we forget she’s a 17 year old young girl and by nature that doesn’t change. Looking forward to the album.

I’m 60 and I wouldn’t dare to answer those questions into a camera. Most people I know don’t care about values like diversity or want to know - as adults - why democracy even works. So I think she’s learning and we shouldn’t be afraid of anything AJ is going to face. She opens door so easily. This event is the Asian American music awards in America 19 th December 2022 , ANGELINA performed 2 songs " bohemian rhapsody " I have nothing " a short clip of her performances is available on ANGELINA JORDAN ARCHIVES CHANNEL .edit just one song on the clip .

Well actually Persians are technically Asian so 1/2 Asian - 1/4 Japanese (East Asian) and 1/4 Persian (West Asian).

What a question. I'd be like Hi, I'm Ryan, nice to meet you, I only know how to be me and what that means to me. As I only have my experiences to go on. Glad she turned it around into a universal answer, it suits her. It would almost be rude of her to answer it brilliantly in a specific sense. Meanwhile we're all just humans that yeah, should have pride in who we descended from, should be curious and excited about the litany of culture we can take in and make part of us. I should say, an interesting question to get to know people in the end I bet, as that was a very Angelina answer as far as a fan can tell. And this was a very me answer. To ask the 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 Arabic, 1/2 Swedish 16 year old kid that grew up mostly in Oslo and Los Angeles? Kinda mean in today's culture climate I must say. A bit loaded with a lot of bad potential. If I spot a kid getting used to this whole stardom thing, less comfy doing interviews than singing for the world, I'm making it easy on her myself. You sir are savage. But it's cool, it probably helps her get comfy faster to be tested and survive it.

Or are we unsure and making educated guesses on Mery? Or is Iran very heavily persian? I apologize for asking for confirmation.

@@ryanjacob3338 Iranian and Arabian is like Japanese and Chinese. They have a different language and culture. Mery is from Iran but I don't know what her ethnicity or religion is.

She seems alittle uncomfortable the hair fiddling is usually a big sign. I hope Hollywood doesnt ruin her

WHAT DID SHE DO TO HER FACE? She went under the knife, besides changing eye color. She had a very different and distinctive face, and she changed that.
