Angilina is like a Michal Jordan of singing. She has been the best at what she does her whole life. She is a Killer! The Baby Faced Assassin. My fav ever since I first saw and heard her sing. Great reaction. I will survive by Gloria Gaynor, Angilina kill it at age 10. Age ten was a great year for Angilina. A lot of great songs. 😎🇺🇲👍💯🌟

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

This has to be THE most unique and impressive child performance of a classic. She should win a Grammy for it. She was writing changes to the arrangement. She arranges most of her covers. Also she paid homage to the original singer, Screamin Jay Hawkins.

I think her clear choice to go away from the seduction implication of spell, to the more dark magic, manipulation implications of the word was both correct and just miles better. Obviously being 9 it's the right call, but it actually just works miles better for the song, and is indeed unique. Only the original felt more like dark magic, than seduction. The skills are unbelievable, the voice, but the actual song is the best version of it out there. Mostly due to her artistic interpretation of it. Her and the band were unreal. The take was refreshing and inspired for sure. I have seen some real cool kid performances of interesting songs, like korn's freak on a leash. What's unique is she can come up with this entire arrangement herself, and many others, in very different styles, and already had at that point. With her you know it isn't just about doing as you are told and practicing it a thousand times. You have a tiny kid that is somehow already an actual full on true artist. Making more interesting and better choices than adult superstars.

Here are Angelina's Norway's Got Talent performances. The first and last videos contain additional content that you should absolutely include. The first, because it helps us get a firm idea of just how tiny she really is. It takes several attempts to get in the chair for her interview. It's also great to be able to hear her for the very first time, talking about herself. This video has English subtitles. The final performance is similar to a spotlight on AGT. Here we see Angelina talking about her experience on NGT while sitting on a bench, with her feet sticking straight out. Following her performance the video includes the judge's remarks. They share how Angelina has impacted them, giving advice or the admonition of one judge who's at a loss for words, "Don't think, just sing." I recommend keeping all of this video in your reaction to this point. After the judges speak, the video advances to Angelina winning NGT. This lasts about 5 minutes, and some reactors keep it, some don't. NGT 1 - "GLOOMY SUNDAY" (pre/post performance English subtitles) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmebtcqoadzMaJs.html NGT 2 - "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU" (sung all in a capella to judges alone) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIB9xbOFZcqyn7w.html NGT 3 - "BANG, BANG" cover of Nancy Sinatra's rendition - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYd5sZWCfbnac6w.html NGT 4 - "SUMMERTIME" (spotlights Angelina, pre/post performance, winning NGT, and has English CC) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/rIJozaOolpTPo5M.html

Angelina didn't take this from the movie Hocus Pocus. She has been listening to the original from 1956 by Screamin Jay Hawkins. If you listen to Jay Hawkins' version, you will understand that it is the one Angelina is imitating! But in her own unique way, of course. Many have recorded this but Angelina's version is the closest to the original. Phenomenal by anyone, but absolutely incredible by a 9 yo Norwegian girl with no shoes!

I didn’t say she did. I just mentioned it being in the movie Hocus Pocus as a reason for me trying to originally post it on Halloween. To be honest I always thought Nina Simone was the original artist, though after looking it up her version didn’t come out til almost 10 years later.

Angelina 9 yo. Look at her! She controls the entire recording. She has the power and ability to carry this out. The fact that she then has an outstanding fantastic voice and theatrical body language only makes everything even better. This little Norwegian girl reads the English lyrics while singing! She is from Norway and they speak Norwegian there. English is Angelina's 3rd language! Already at 5-6 years old, she understands exactly what is meant in the lyrics! Incredible! A genius at work. I am so happy for everything she gives me. / a Swedish Viking.

Absolutely love your reaction. As always, Angelina is known for arranging her music. The notes you see in the beginning are changes she made that morning. The candle she's holding is of the original artist, Screamin Jay Hawkins (1956). You even can catch the bass player smiling in the beginning, as these five adult musicians are playing for a tiny single-digit-midget. Her performance has been called by many as a masterpiece cover of Jay's original, as he intended it to be preformed. What's really amazing in this performance is her ability to adjust her physiology to produce the sounds she's making. During her first growl, you can see the tip of her tongue, as she's moving out forward to give her more space in her tiny throat. There's so much going on that I have followed up on as many vocal coaches as possible to see their analysis of what she's doing with her vocal instrument. I only watch these vocal coach assessments after I've watched the original. The two I found most helpful/enjoyable for this song are: - The Fairy Godmother - Cici Dover The first, 'Godmother', does an excellent job telling us what's happening, along with a very enjoyable commentary. She uses close-up frames from the video to point out what 9 year old Angelina is doing, although not knowing how on earth this little girl has figured out how to sing as she does. Cici Dover (Spanish with English CC) is an excellent vocal professional, who's always approached Angelina's performances with a very lively and passionate assessment. She's incredibly knowledgeable in the craft. I always look for Cici's analysis whenever a new performance is released.

Watch the little hand flourishes she does, near the beginning with a pen in her hand and near the end with her finger, she is INTO IT! My guess about the note at the beginning, and I have nothing back this up, is that she is suggesting the callback at the end of the sax solo, "Hey Hey hey what's up! As others will tell you, she is intimately involved in arranging these performances.

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight info how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and gives them some instructions. Thank you for continuing your journey of discovering Angelina. She is well worth every moment you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZread, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she con convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Yes, Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956. She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. Things I found particularly worthy of note in this video are (a) Angelina arranged this song, and you see her finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand (g) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

You just witnessed history being made! It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times (including Bette Midler) and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 16 years old... That is unfathomable!... Oh Lord... what is coming the world is not prepared for but we as fans have been on the edge of our seats and will remain there as we wait. No hurry. We want Angelina to do it her way when she is ready. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her. We know Angelina will continue to amaze! We will be here to experience and cherish it for as long as we live.... and I am praying for many more years for myself to enjoy it till the end of my days... I hope to go out of this world listening to the most beautiful voice ever created for man just as Angelina came into it to fulfill her purpose, what she was put on earth to do, sing for the whole World... and Me! To me Angelina is always singing to me transporting me to that beautiful place she inhabits when she sings and to experience it with her. She has the ability to touch hearts and souls and change lives. She has the ability to change lives on a personal level and the power to change lives on a global scale. To me no one compares. You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻

Loved your reaction Whitney to Angelina in beast mode. Her previous performances from age 6 until this one around her 9th birthday, were mostly jazz standards with a couple pop songs. The notes she was writing were her "wishes" for how she wanted to sing the song. Those notes along with notes from other songs during her early years would sell for a pretty penny if she ever decided to sell them (most likely to raise money for charity). Always have to mention who Angelina is as a person. She is soft spoken yet 100% confident. She is humble almost to a fault and filled with empathy. Here is the story of why she always performs barefoot. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. I greatly look forward to your reactions to her performances on Norway's Got Talent (NGT). I suggest using these videos. Note the judges comments are nearly as remarkable as her performances. Each of the 4 performances makes for a great reaction video. Audition. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmebtcqoadzMaJs.html Judge's cut round (no audience) and singers were required to sing a cappella unless they played an instrument. The video is only 152 seconds long and no comments from the Judges here so I suggest comparing her performance on NGT with one she did 3+ years later at age 11 while recording for her "It's Magic" album. Hello, Whitney. It is important to stay sane and take care of yourself as well as the family. Angelina's arrangement is not based on Hocus Pocus. It is based on the 1956 original by "Screaming" Jay Hawkins. And she is 9 years old in this video, which is after winning Norway's Got Talent at ages 7/8 (Auditioning at 7 and 8 by the time she won). Her notes are instructions to the band leader concerning her arrangement of this song. Yes. Do know that there is a video with English subtitles for the audition. This is instructive for the judges comments and what they said to each other afterward. So for at least that one, get the one with English subtitles. You go, Girlfriend! I'll look for you. Grandma Ellen, over & out. 💜

I just mentioned Hocus Pocus cause it was in the movie and it’s a Halloween cult classic (for some reason. I don’t really get it) I could tell when she opened her mouth there was no way she mirrored Bette Midler’s version. I haven’t heard Screaming Jay Hawkins’ version in a long time. I honestly thought the original was Nina Simone.

The second song in progression is an A Cappella version of Billy Holiday's "I'm A Fool to Want You". The third song in progression is a cover of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang" and the last and winning song is Gershwin's "Summertime".
