At her last concert on July 10th 2022 in Norway, when Angelina told why she sings this song and dedicated it to her grandmother Mery Zamani (her grandma couldn't accompany Angelina on the trip to Norway and both were very sad), I understand this song completely differently whenever I hear the line "Don't you dare walk away from me". 💯 *AJ* 💯 👣

The most pleasant and beautiful version of this song ever. I have never managed to listen to this song more than once from any singer though impressive enough. Angelina I can listen to on repeat with her soft velvet voice..🤗

There are some Listeners/reactors who seem to think this song should always be sung exactly the way that Whitney sang it, and for them Angelina's rendition will never measure up...Of course those who hold that opinion will seldom (Never?) admit that Whitney herself never sang this Live in the same way she did in the Studio! Not that I think You are that way , Darnell! You accept a different "Flavor"! Personally, this song isn't even in my top 20 favorite Angelina Jordan Songs! Give me one of her Great Jazz Standards like "Summertime"; "My Funny Valentine"; "Everytime We Say Goodbye": "You Make Me Feel So Young", or one of Her Original songs like "7th Heaven" or "Million Miles". What is Most impressive about AJ to Me is NOT her "belting"....Many Many singers can belt out big notes, But Very, Very, Very Few can delicately finesse the emotional and Tonal Nuances of a song the way that AJ can do!

Those country inflections or vocal twang is just oneof the many colors she uses to paint the song.... You are right she sings it in a different key than Whitney, but is lower by at least a step ... In the version she sang when she was 13 she sings in the original key... It's a tribute to Whitney and is closer to the original

Yes but the 13 version imo ANGELINA struggling for breath near the end understandable for baby lungs and I believe it was close to the original because a karaoke track was used.

She sings this three semi tones lower than Whitney and it fits her voice perfectly. I think Angelina has more depth, texture and warmth to her voice as compared to the clear voice of Whitney. During the latest concert Angelina dedicated this song to her absent and recovering grandmother with whom she has a special bond. This gives the song a personal and emotional context and she makes me feel it. She uses her voice to tell the story she wants to tell and not per se to show all she can she do. She has a lot of natural talent, immensely in fact (check out her audition at 7 for Norway got talent) and seeing how she imrpoves and keeps improving, she must be working very hard as well. Jazz mostly and also blues are her roots and I would imagine those shining through. There is a version of her singing this song in the original key of G at 13yrs old , Whitneys key at 28 yrs..she did incredible..this key is in E..3 semi tones lower and is perfect to facilitate a full spectrum of colors and tone timing and delivery . As long time studio musician, having recorded back tracks for many many singers....this beautiful young 16 yr old is beyond compare..a prodigy...

You are totally right in that she brought a different energy than in I Put A Spell On You. As you listen more and more to Angelina, you will realize that she brings a different energy and even a different voice to each song In I Put A Spell On You, she was matching the tone of screaming Jay Hawkins, which was unique, to say the least. I don't think there's any other song where she sings with that voice. Once you hear Bohemian Rhapsody, you will come to know yet another voice of Angelina. A lot of reactors will say, well this is the perfect song for her voice" ... not realizing that she actually matches her voice accordingly, depending on the song she is singing.

She speaks 4-5 languages, she plays piano, guitar & 2 or 3 more , she is the youngest published author in Norway.

The first recording I have found of Angelina singing was when she was 18 months old (!) singing Whitney's I Will Always Love You. Whitney is very special to her.

Hey Darrnell! Catching you here again. FYI, Whitney Houston was a soprano and she dropped the key a bit from the way it was composed for her. Angelina is not a soprano---she is ranked LOWER as a middle alto or low alto or contralto, depending who is talking. So, of course, to do best justice to the song, she did lower it a bit more. This is standard practice for vocalists. The thing about Angelina is she is only 16 yo, a developing voice, compared to the settled voice that WH had. Also, with Angelina, what you hear in the studio is what you will hear in her outdoor concerts. And you are correct---Angelina "has that." I like how you enthusiastically appreciate/support her singing. All of her ornaments, riffs, vocal fry, etc.---that is her jazz foundation. And then she sends us home with the long velvet ribbon of that last note. I wonder how it will sound when she sings it in her fully mature voice at age 28. A dozen years from now. If you watch her sing Unchained Melody when she was nine (accompanied by the pianist from IPASOY), you will witness her employ contralto range, both the top and bottom of alto range, soprano range and, a fully loaded tenor bit too - all in one little gem of a performance...it's stunning

From your comments at the end I know you understand this, but you’re always going to get Angelina’s take on a cover. She consistently shows respect for the original singer, but there’s no mistaking Angelina’s style and voice. My own opinion is that Angelina never intends to compete with the original. There’s enough difference in her covers that they are almost different songs in many cases. That’s not quite so true here, even though there are many riffs and runs that are signature Angelina. Maybe you expected to hear more of Whitney-or you like Whitney’s version better. No one could disagree with that choice-Whitney was Whitney, and she was spectacular. What you’ll see, however, as you watch more Angelina is that she covers more genres beautifully and authentically than anyone you’ve ever heard. Power ballads like this, jazz, blues, r&b, incredible 60’s soul, pop, and more. The same girl who covers Whitney so beautifully also will blow you away with her covers of James Brown, Queen, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Elvis, Elton, Dinah Washington, and many more. Her Bohemian Rhapsody cover is not really a cover. It’s a stunning tribute to the original, and it could definitely be the best live performance I’ve ever seen.

I doubt Whitney had a lower pitch than Angelina. Maybe a bit more mature because she was a few years older than Angelina. And even then I'm not sure.

The Bodyguard. Not just a few years. Whitney was getting up there by then. I heard 29ish. AJ is 16. I understand the inclination to compare since Whitney's rendition is iconic, but I don't think it enhances the analysis, nor does it clear the air and allow one to appreciate AJ in her own time and space, and in her own right.

Awesome reaction, watch her 7th July concert, her last song from an 18 song set she finishes with this song! She dedicated it to her Grandma who was home sick, talk about Emotions, God bless!

I think Angelina has a wispy little jazzy sound in her throat. She has her own sound but if we were to think hard and ask who she sounds like if we were trying to compare her to any other singer in my opinion I would have to say "Amy Winehouse". It is like she has a hint of Amy deep down but one of her biggest inspirations is Billy Holiday and I can her a little bit of her style.

Overall, a fair reaction except for attempting to compare artists. It's a waste of time to compare anyone to Whitney. It's also a waste of time to compare Angelina to anyone. Their voices are unique and different. It's like trying to compare ice cream to custard. Whitney's career included one timeless performance after another. When Angelina's career is over, I'm certain there will be several timeless performances. That said, I completely understand that people have preferences. Some prefer Taylor Swift over Brittney. Some prefer Etta James over Ella Fitzgerald. I see each artist as having their own special niche.

It's not country, it is european sounds. It reminds me if you take Adele and Amy Weinhouse had a baby...and that is sitting on top of her fundamental core which comes from legends in jazz such like Billie Holiday, Etta James and Nina Simone.

At least 10 times you mentioned Whitney, at least 14 times you made interruptions/ pausing often just for a second or two. how anyone is able to give a fair and accurate reaction after so many interruptions is beyond me. They don't except anything but review of Angelina's covers as pure greatness of Angelina riviews, they are Grandparents that don't take well to people that don't say great things when it comes to thier grandchildren. You are doing a disservice to Angels. Most criticism I've heard from them is about reviewers who want to hear a cover exactly like the original, don't understand her music stylings or don't know anything about Angelina and make ignorant comments. Then there are a few trolls who constantly criticize her for not being "modern" or what I call flash and trash. I do have an issue with this review because he talks too much while she is singing. I have no problem stopping the video and making comments. Plus, he seems to want to hear Whitney's studio version. Even Whitney seldom could perform her studio version the same way live.

If anyone knows of a Whitney Houston live performance that confuses me, please let me know. i think the difference between Angelina and Whitney is Angelina loves the song. 💯 *AJ* 💯👣 BTW, If we are to believe what Kevin Costner and David Foster said about the song's story, Kevin Costner "Whitney Houston hated that song, she didn't want to sing that song, I had to talk Whitney into it". David Foster "The recording of this song with Whitney was very tiring and challenging. After many days of trying and trying, we finally got it done". 🤗🤗

@@gumimat1 I'm a bit confused, this review was about Angelina's recorded video had nothing to do with a live version.a However, if it were, we could discuss Angelina's live version "issues" and there were a few. But they have nothing to do with this reviewers very good review. Note: I loved this version of the song by Angelina, and loved Whitney's version. Whitney's version comes with her movie story which has emotional context. I can not help but think of it when I hear it.
