Angelina Jordan "Bohemian Rhapsody" REACTION & BREAKDOWN by Modern Life for the 70's Mind

Welcome to my “Modern Life for the 70's Mind” KZread Channel. On this channel, I not only take a look at the songs and history that made us who we are today, but also introduce you to today's modern music as well. Any songs that combine the two are always a winner! I've always loved music and have always tried to keep a balance between the classic music I fell in love with and today's MUCH DIFFERENT sounds. Here's we'll analyze both. We’ll even take some time and revisit some of the old parts of our past that have disappeared from today’s shelves and most people’s memories, I call it Bob's Cabinet of Curiosity. Let’s relive those moments together! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time out of your day to check in. I appreciate it more than I can say here.

She does her songs the way she believes it should be, she also arranges them. She is also always in charge of the band/orchestra she is known as the boss and they all admire her. And it is still the same now that she is 17. She makes my lonely moments happy. Blessings from a 76 year old gran from South Africa

I knew you were going to love this one. Her approach to this untouchable song is just pure genius IMO. Nobody will ever match Queen on the original Bohemian Rhapsody, and I think she knew that. She was smart enough to create a brand new song in the spirit of the original, and with the same lyrics, but a completely different feel. As you said, she's just that good. One tip for your videos... when you pause, it is good to hit the 5 second back button when you resume. This helps to keep the flow and not miss anything. For example, right where you paused this one, when she goes up to that belt, not many people catch this, but that belt is actually replicating the lead guitar lick that happens after the "never been born at all" in the original. Absolute genius she is.

Another artist giving a STUNNING performance live on a talent show(America’s Got Talent) is Brian Justin Crum singing “Creep”. It will blow your socks off. The audience, who is normally loud and disruptive, was totally spellbound to the point where they didn’t even clap right away after the song ended. Don’t listen to the studio recording. You won’t be disappointed. Sore throat? You ok? Not Covid I hope.

You just watched Angelina perform a MASTERPIECE rendition of this Classic song. Often times we are told, "Wait till you hear, etc.," and we come away not particularly thrilled. Not with Angelina. She exceeds every expectation we might have had and literally stuns us. You just joined a very exclusive club. It's members are reactors who were about to hear Angelina's version of this song for the first time. Whenever Angelina 'angels' all over the world find out there is a reactor who just posted a video of this, it's a "can't miss" viewing for all of us. And, remarkably, even though most of us have heard this hundreds of times (in some cases well over 1000 times) if the reactor gets very emotional, so do we as if we were listening to it for the first time, as well! Why? Because we are so happy that you have truly discovered her and we know she has touched your heart. I believe you are beginning to realize she is much more than a once-in-a-lifetime singer. She is the "whole package" and the world's people are welcoming her with open arms. Btw, the more you listen to this, it gets better each time.

This is my all time favorite vocal performance. Seems the bigger the stage, the better Angelina sings. Even at age 13, Angelina was wise enough to begin the song a cappella to ensure the full attention of her audience. Her beautiful tone is the warmest, most welcoming I have heard and it captivates me from the first note. Bob, I believe you can create a way to react to Angelina that will be uniquely you and not have to try to find new ways to describe her performance. Here is something much easier and will help Angelina's career and build your channel at the same time. Verbally encourage your viewers to watch, like and comment on all of the videos by each artist you feature and also encourage them to subscribe to the artists channel. Fans of the artist will be happy that you are fully supporting their favorite artist (maybe find some creative way of being even more supportive) that they will be much more likely to subscribe to your channel. It is a win-win.

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind Thanks for your response. It's clear you want to grow your channel and subscriptions, and as you said, you've done quite well to start. I, and a few other super fans of aspiring artists, who have watched thousands of reactions, have been working to help reaction channels grow, and there are many success stories. We do this without compensation as it is a labor of love. To grow your channel, there are only a few universal things you have to demonstrate to your viewers to gain loyalty. To begin, you have to do quality reactions, and you certainly achieve that very personably. I think you are quickly developing a fan base based on your being likeable. Secondly, you have to show love and admiration for fans' favorite artists, while also being honest. Once again, you check that box as your commentaries tend to reflect your feelings both positive and negative. Too many reactors are actors, and your audience tends to see through that, but I and your followers know that you are genuine. Lastly and most importantly, that love and admiration you have verbalized has to translate to genuine actions that reflect true sincerity. That means educating your viewers on how to help their favorite artists to achieve their goals. This is no different than what you do for your own channel. Provide all of the artist links including video, official channel, and maybe even social media, in your description. Verbally encourage the viewers to watch, like, share, comment on the video and subscribe to the artists channels. They need their analytics maximized just like you do for your channel! Plus their record labels need to be satisfied with their subscription numbers! Again, supporting your artists in this way does not take away from your own channel but it complements what you should be doing so that both of you benefit. It only takes perhaps 15 to 30 seconds at the beginning or end of your video to cement your credibility with the fans. If you are helping their favorite performer, they are yours, and much more likely to subscribe to your channel. There are many reactor actors out there that talk up a good storm, but don't back it up. They are entertaining, but they don't grow their numbers very quickly. Education is the key. Most reactors assume viewers know how to support their favorite artists or their favorite reactors. Truth is, many have no idea.

Hello my friend! Thanks for another great reaction to Angelina :-) You keep saying that Angelina keeps making it more and more difficult for you to come up with new ways of describing her... Well.. The same pretty much goes for me when describing you. How about that ?? LOL Anywho, may I come with a suggestion ? You've heard her LOW register, and I hear you comment that you enjoyed this (higher) part of her register, too. SO, when Angelina was 12 (!) years old, she found that the time was right to take on Whitney Houston herself, making a renditon of her "I Have Nothing". You see, up until that point in time, there had been some "evil" tongues claiming that she couldn't belt. I imagine Angelina's answer to that was something along he lines of "HERE! Hold my shoes!!! " LMAO Maybe she should have added "And hold on tight to your socks". Let me just say that those tongues went awfully silent all of a sudden :-) You know ofc, that at age 12, the lungs are FAR from fully developed, and that particular song is one of the most demanding songs in the world to sing in that respect. Also keep in mind that Angelina recorded this in a one (or possibly two) take recording in her room, while WH was 29 at the time of recording in studio. IF there were any minor flaws whatsoever, they would have been removed in the post processing ofc. I don't say this to make any excuses for Angelina, because, as you will hear, that is not needed. Just something for listeners to keep in mind still. Lastly, maybe a small tip from your Norwegian buddy. Now that you have cut away the first "curiosity" part of yor reactions, as well as the last "final thoughts" part (both of which I love btw), I think it would be great for the fluidity of the performance if you would go back maybe 5 seconds after you have commented. Like in this video for instance, you stopped right on the verge of Angelina going into the high note (belt), and so the performance would feel less interrupted if you would run it back somewhat. I see most reactors to this, and it kinda makes your musical soul get some relief.... hehe I know there is a key-short for going back 5 seconds at least. Btw, I didn't find a link to your other part of the reaction in the description ? OH, dang it. Almost forgot to give you the link to the performance (must be the age...) Here goes : kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4iX2NiIZqWZedI.html Let me know what your wife thinks when and if you let her listen to these Norwegian artists that you've found ?? Would be great ! Take care and stay safe buddy ! Love from Norway :-)

Hi. So do you think I should add the Final Thoughts back in? I've been debating that and actually thought that I would start that again. I don't really like how it just "ends". I also need to make sure that I mention the Curiosities link at the beginning of the videos so people don't think I just eliminated them. I'm actually putting a little extra effort into them in hopes that they're a little better.

Regarding your recent reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody, Heidi Klum gave her the Golden Buzzer. Did you notice during her performance they highlighted audience members in the front row. That is Angelina's Family. From left to right Her uncle and manager Michael Astar, her little sister Juliette, her mother Sarah Astar and her grandmother Mery Zamani. Notice her little sister crossing her fingers as the performance starts and later her mother wipe tears from her eyes. Also remember she said she had waited 10 years to sing for Simon. When she was 3 years old she was begging her mother to go on 'that Simon show'. A child prodigy who started singing Whitney Houston at 1 & 1/2, Won Norways Got Talent at 8 yrs old singing Billy Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday', 'I'm a Fool to Want You', 'Bang, Bang' by Nancy Sinatra and 'Summertime' by George Gershwin! She fulfilled one of her childhood wishes when she sang for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert at 8, her second wish that you just watched was to sing for that 'Simon Show" that she expressed at 3 yrs old when she sang on America's Got Talent 'The Champions' at 13 yrs old singing the most beautiful rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody ever created! simple.... With Angelina's rendition here she put all of that crazy operatic bills above Skyler moves stuff and the heavy metal guitar all into that 1 belt which I think was an E flat 5 wolf cry belt?... Anyway she fulfilled the entire song in just a couple of seconds at that point and stand stuck to the ballad portion at the front end....... Beautiful and spontaneous reaction, thanks again. Often with Angelina one is so fascinated by her voice, by "her great breath control" 😂 and by her splendid technique, that one does not think of her amazing intelligence and musical sense, which allowed her to absorb and transform from her first interpretations the songs, as if she were a glass craftsman, who takes an object, heats it and remodels it, keeping the material intact, but giving it a new shape and a new color. In this, for me she, is even more amazing, she has recomposed songs by superlative authors, replicated for decades, and has given us new wonders every time. 💛 🧡 ❤️

Bob, thanks once again for a knowledgeable and insightful reaction. I don't remember exactly what I discussed in my comments on your last video but I will post here some of my thoughts now. Firstly, Angelina does not just sing softly or mid-range or just high register. Angelina has a very wide range as low as Elvis Presley in register and then upward from there. For a young woman it is unheard of. Secondly, you as well as many others say that you like her voice. What is uncanny about Angelina is that she has more than one voice! She is the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices. Her influences since she was a child include Billie Holiday, Ella fitzgerald, Etta james, Elvis Presley, adele, Amy Winehouse, and many more. Depending on the song, or the artist, or the genre, Angelina has the ability to adjust her tone and style to adapt her voice to the type of song she is singing. She always sounds like Angelina but she can give the vibe of any of her influences! So she may sing Adele and people say she sounds a little bit like Adele. And she can sing Amy Winehouse, and sound a bit like Amy. So when you ask someone if they like her voice, the question is which one? Angelina has the ability to belt when she wants to and there are several performances where she demonstrates that. Whitney Houston I have nothing, Adele all I ask, James Brown it's a man's world, lovin you, feeling good by Nina Simone. If you want to hear her lowest register, How Great thou art by Elvis. Angelina did a shortened version for this performance because contestants only get two or two and a half minutes for their song. She arranged it and created a whole new song and queen tweeted to let her know they loved it and they gave her copyrights to be able to record it and sell it on Spotify and digital media! Here is link from ages 6 to 15 to her chronological performances, including five originals. This should help you choose various songs throughout her career that you like. I would definitely try to choose from all age ranges. A really gorgeous song to start with is the very first one I ever heard from her and it hooked me on her. A million years ago, by Adele I'm looking forward to all your future videos and hopefully this info is helpful. m.kzread.info/head/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO

You mentioned several singers with great talent and power in their voices. Angelina can match that, but her delivery is matched to the song, not to her strengths, so we get vocal control, flexibility, texture, and nuance. And power when it’s appropriate. (Unfortunately, you paused right in the middle of a beautiful run up to her powerful belting in this performance.) And not only can Angelina match those singers you named, but she can stun you with her talent in multiple genres. Celine doesn’t do blues and jazz. Adele doesn’t cover James Brown. Whitney didn’t give us old school jazz vibes with I Put a Spell on You. etc… Angelina does it all with authenticity and amazing arrangements. She is the best I’ve ever heard, and I thought that when she was around 11 years old. Now, she is much better.

Very nice reaction Bob. You will find that Angelina has an unbelievable range in her voice when she chooses to use it. A lot of '"singers" can belt and all that but music artists such as Angelina choose to tell you a story or paint you a picture with their vocals, far more difficult than belting notes I believe. Then again, the suggestions below are good ones when you want to hear Angelina extend her vocals for impact. Looking forward to the next one.

I've only seen Angelina struggle with singing twice, and both times she was trying to sing on top of her own singing being played over speakers. Once she was fairly young (8 or 9?) and was in a studio talking with Little Steven, and the other time she was somewhat older practicing before a concert when somebody started playing one of her songs over the speakers (maybe she was 11 or 12?). I assume the reason she struggled with singing on top of her own voice is that she has a general layout for the song, but then just sings how she feels it and there will be variations and nuances every time. When Aretha Franklin was singing on 'Blues Brothers 2000' they recorded the images separately and then recorded the song in a studio to get the best sound quality, but even though they tried several times they couldn't get her to sing the song identical twice and had to give up on lip syncing it. I do believe that's part of the magic from both Angelina and Aretha, that they just flow/flowed with the currents they feel/felt in the music at the moment (RIP Aretha, you are missed).

Angelina didn't make the final cut, which didn't affect her recording future, she signed with Republic Records at 15 years old with the understanding her education comes first. I highly recommend you take a look at where it all started. Where a tiny barefoot girl entered Norway's Got Talent, stunning the judges and Norway, going on to win the competition. Angelina was so young that you can see her permanent teeth growing in from the audition to the finals. The first and fourth links have additional content before and after the performance. Of the first, one of the judges shared after the NGT season, “We were in shock when she started to sing…it was a discussion whether it was an impression of that kind of music (ref to Gloomy Sunday performance) or the real deal…and the next time we saw her, she owned the stage, when she rehearsed, she told the bassist what she wanted and had full control. And we were like…ok…you are a star…we have something special here…”. NGT 1 - "GLOOMY SUNDAY" (pre/post performance English subtitles) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmebtcqoadzMaJs.html NGT 2 - "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU" (sung in acapella) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/foyf0K6TdNK4hrQ.html NGT 3 - "BANG BANG" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYd5sZWCfbnac6w.html NGT 4 - "SUMMERTIME" (spotlights Angelina, pre/post performance, winning NGT, and has English CC) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/rIJozaOolpTPo5M.html

Just having the guts to start this in a'capella is astounding, especially when you understand the venue that is going worldwide. It is not easy, without music to lead you in to the start of the song, in exactly the right 'key', and why singers don't like this way of starting a song. It could quickly put them in a place where they won't be able to complete the song properly. She actually did a full a'capella rendition, from start to finish, when she sang 'I'm A fool To Want You' when she performed on Norway's Got Talent when she just turned 8 years old. Her first 'audition' song was at 7, and that was another Billie Holiday song called 'Gloomy Sunday'. Listen to both singers and you will think, like many of us, that Billie was reincarnated into a 7 year old Norwegian girl, who's first language wasn't even English. The girl has been boggling my mind for years and years now, for I've never heard anyone with her level of versatility with regard to genre, as well as being able to emulate other singer's vocals in such a precise manner. Listen to her and Dinah Washington doing 'What A Difference A Day Makes'. Again, it sounds like one singer is performing both songs..........and the list goes on and on !

Hi Bob, Queen has ennobled Angelina by saying that this is a wonderful rendition of her song. I find it remarkable that she was able to work out such a version at the age of 13. I wish she would record her full-length version. This song is just way too short. You like to hear her higher voice and you just listed Whitney Houston as a special singer. Then you have to check out Angelinas version of "I have nothing". Of course she sounds different than Whitney but not worse - just different. You have to be really good to compete with Whitney. Otherwise you look very old very quickly. 🤣 - I have nothing 12 years old - kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4iX2NiIZqWZedI.html - Whitney Houston cover Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany
