MRM, thanks for the great enthusiastic reaction To Angelina who just turned 18 on January 10, 2024. She performed a much more powerful version of "Unchained Melody" at her sold out Portsmouth, New Hampshire concert in September, 2023. Here at the Nobel Peace Prize tribute in December, 2023 to Narges Mohammadi, who has fought for human rights and freedom in Iran and been sentenced by the theocratic autocracy to 31 years in prison and 154 lashes, Angelina performed a reverent, appropriate version of this song as she always fits her tremendous vocal ability to the song and the occasion. This song was originally composed for a movie in 1955 about a prisoner in jail longing for his wife and family. Angelina sang this song as though she was Narges singing from jail to her husband and twin children, a boy and girl, who accepted the Nobel Prize on her behalf. The children have not seen their mother for nine years and they are the same age, 17, as was Angelina. Also, Angelina is one quarter Iranian through her grandmother Mery Zamani and has wanted to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize tribute since she was 5 years old although she did sing at the NPP children's concert when she was 8 years old. Thanks again for your excellent reaction on this momentous occasion.

My favorite Angelina song is the next one I will hear her sing! It never stops. She just turned 18 YESTERDAY on Jan10th (Wednesday). Class personified and a lovely young woman. Vocally she is on a level reserved for only a few AND there is much more going on. Her soulfulness transitions into waves of pure love when we listen to her sing and our hearts welcome her love. She is GENUINE and it is the reason we get so emotional listening to her. This is not a fairy tale. This is for real.

The thing is, Angelina is not about blowing your socks off, in a tradisional way that is. She has no intension to show off, but does what is required to bring out the best of the song, respecting the original artwork. What do blow your socks off is her tone, emotion, timing and pure class.

Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 ####### This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 100 times coming from Oslo, Norway. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. Always enjoy your thoughts. This performance was designed to be subdued, intimate and compassionate in light of the occasion... honoring the Nobel Peace prize recipient, currently jailed in Iran, and her two children in attendance. It wasn't designed to impress, although how can she not.

The importance of a great sound engineer. #### After listening to the complete rehearsal for AJ's rendition of Unchained Melody, and then the finished product, you have an idea of what a good sound engineer can do for the artist. The final product of this recording is a testament to the skill of the sound engineer, who balanced the vocals and the orchestra perfectly. In the rehearsal, there were moments when the orchestra overpowered Angelina Jordan's voice, but that issue was resolved, and the result is a masterpiece, a true work of ART. © Larry D. Pifer

To fully appreciate this performance, one needs to understand the background. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". "Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

He recalled that Sinatra once told him that the key to singing was not to let it interfere with the storytelling. ^^^^^I have always admired the Righteous Brothers, but I was disappointed by the cover that Bobby Hatfield made. Hatfield transformed one of the most exquisite ballads into a jazzy tune without the reverence that it warranted. In contrast, Angelina Jordan reduced the speed, and with her heavenly signature voice she delivered a tribute to this immortal song with the best version of Unchained Melody I have ever heard in my 76 years of life. © Larry D. My favorite song by Angelina is her cover of the iconic, classic jazz standard, My Funny Valentine, that she sang 2 years ago at barely 16 yo. It's been recorded by all the great jazz artists over the last 50 years (600+), many of which are amazing, but I think Angelina's is the best I've ever heard. It's a Masterclass sultry performance of vocal control, dynamics & range. See what you think. kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4h7rsSsd6eneZM.html

Spectacular reaction. She is everything you say she is, although not everyone in the world has realized it yet. But they will, believe me they will. Further (and I won't call names; we all know who they are), we are all painfully aware of so many artists who showed brilliant talent from a very early age, and who were virtually destroyed by the mercenary, cut-throat industry, and mesmerized by its bright lights onto the wrong paths. Angelina has had, from the very beginning, the benefit of an extremely powerful support structure, which has potently and consistently protected her from the assaults and vicissitudes of the industry. Set so firmly on the right path, and with that continuing support, I am confident that she will never deviate from the quintessence of grace, beauty, elegance and sheer CLASS that we have come to know, admire and love.

^^^^Please Don't Cry ^^^^ Angelina Jordan's fans were moved to tears by her stunning performance of Unchained Melody at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo, Norway with the KORK Orchestra. The young singer, who captivated the audience with her soulful voice, told her angels in an interview that she hoped they would not cry when they listened to her, as she felt the emotion of the event and might cry herself when she watched it later. But we believe that crying is not a negative thing, it's an expression of joy and emotion when we witness her. Yeah not much power here. This one's about a lot of soft and slow elegant skills, feel, timing. Transports me in a hurry, so beautiful. So maybe some might not get the comments on Whitney, Aretha here. But I mean if they heard her sing Etta James, or James Brown where she unleashed. Or Whitney Houston, she's done her lots. I mean they'd start to get a picture. At 17 I think her power might already be up there with some of them, but she really gets us with the versatility. Truly you want to hear most of it, you won't believe what it does to you when you like her voice and skills, to give the whole body of work and all it's different styles a hard look. It is wild, how good I think she is.

Correction: Not the "Righteous Brothers", as Bobby Hatfield sang it solo because Tom refused to sing the song (poor choice).

The voice, the vibrato, the control, the exact pitch. Yes, all wonderful. BUT,... there is no emotion. No Love. Technically perfect. One day, when she's in LOVE,... She will sing this song and make us CRY!!!

You’ve no idea how wrong you are. No emotion? She was crying before she went on stage..she was singing directly to the two twins in the audience of Narges Mohammadi this years Peace Prize Award winner who’s been in prisoned in Iran 9 years ago for advocating women’s rights.

@@trishbranges3370 No, she's just young, nervous, and has watched too many other young singers that constantly change hand positions, because that's what this generation does. You don't sing with your hands, so they shouldn't draw your attention to them like this video shows. As for what she should do? She should watch Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers sing the song, to see what a pro does with their hands. Hundreds of other professional singers to learn from, instead of TicToc singers and wannabes.
