It’s because Angelica is going into the whistle register which is something Ariana Grande is known for being able to hit notes in (it’s incredibly hard to). In fact, to my knowledge, Ariana Grande is the only “popular singer” who goes into the register so I’m guessing that’s why.

Phil Santos why do people always make it about a ‘race’ thing? It’s not about race but I’m not saying she should or shouldn’t win also, just to be clear. I just think it’s childish to look at it that way. Lea Salonga is Filipino and she won Tony and Olivier awards. She was simply exceptional and phenomenal in Miss Saigon. Angelica is also phenomenal and exceptional especially after all the medical problems that she has gone through BUT we see so many other kids who also sing amazingly. Nevertheless, Angelica is truly an inspiration to people of all ages and she is definitely one fighter. Much respect and admiration for this engaging kid.
