Before there were Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, there was Angela Bofill. Her songs were so difficult to sing because she sung in a high tone. In one presser held in a hotel here in Manila to promote her concert, she held a crystal goblet up high for people to see and then sang a very high pitched note and broke the goblet. Because of that, she became legendary. Personally, I love her song "You Should Know by Now" the most. I heard the rumour that she suffered a stroke but I didn't know it was true. Rest in Peace Angela Bofill. You were one of my childhood heroes. 🎉
You guys really put up a photo of Maysa Leak and some other woman later. It takes away from the well-meaning intent of your videos when you mistake not once but twice. We are not all the same. Please! I wish both she and Phyllis Hyman had stayed away from Clive.
I just imagine her and Phyllis Hyman hanging out. Angela Bofill was so unique. She wrote a lot of her own material. She will be missed. She left us with some good music.
She made it to 70, and overcame many obstacles. She did alright ❤ Rest In Paradise Angie
Is it really so hard to have a heartfelt narration instead of this (bot)? The artist’s story deserves better. RIP Angie and thank you for the joy you inspired.
Her song, "This time I'll be Sweeter" makes me bawl my eyes out. There was just something about her, and her unique and personal sound.
I had NO idea Angela passed recently. Omg! 😢She was everything!! Rest in Power "Angel of the Night".💙🕊
They called her voice the Range Rover and she can sing in another language, also she has pipes and can hold a note for a long time just as well as Minnie Rippleton could. Such beauty and grace. I will always love you and your music Ms. Bofill. May you rest in heavenly peace. A job well done my beloved. It's time to say goodbye. Girl I love your voice.❤🌹💯👍
All I know is that her passing really hit me hard. She was truly special.
Angel of the Night and I Try will always be my favorite's
It's absolutely ridiculous how beautiful she was 😤
Her voice was unique, beautiful and trully one of a kind. She died young and beautiful. Rest in peace beautiful angel.
Been an Angie Bofill fan since 1980 when I - then in high school - first heard "I Try" on the radio. SHE WAS ONE OF THE BEST.
She was immensely beautiful , her voice there was and is no other to compare her too.
I have her CD in my car for the last 20 years & listen to it wvery once in a while. RIP Angela, JOB WELL DONE!❤
I didn't know she had died. My heart is broken. She was a beautiful woman and songstress, a consummate performer. I count seeing her live one of the best performances I had ever seen. She engaged the audience and brought us into her emotional, witty, jazzy world. Those later strokes robbed her of her voice but not her spirit. RIP, Queen 💔
I have been loving her since the 70's. Beautiful and talented. She's in my Top 5 favorite female singers.❤❤❤ Angela's music will live forever.
She lived with my aunt in the early 70’s in Mount Vernon, NY.
the Philippines loved her songs. Always a staple in local adult contemporary radio stations' playlists.
She had an amazing voice!!!!
