Hollywood Reporter, THIS is how one of these sessions should be done. The moderator let the actors ask each other questions and finish their thoughts. She stepped in where needed, but she let the conversation flow naturally. As a result, we were able to listen to an interesting and thoughtful conversation about the work. Well done!

fong03 agreed! However, I think Hollywood Reporter has a list of things they want in the round table like last year with every table they asked about the me too movement and Weinstein..which I guess I get but you’re right it removes the chance for a discussion like this where you really walk away feeling like you know how each actor works. I usually don’t come away with learning anything new from Hollywood reporter’s roundtable.

I was referring more to the British gentleman who somehow keeps getting to moderate the panels. He constantly cuts off the people speaking, doesn't let anyone finish their though, rarely asks interesting questions about the craft itself and generally doesn't allow for any real conversations. Some of the other moderators are better though.

fong03 lol I know exactly who you’re talking about but it’s like I said for him it always seems like he has to ask the questions he does like he’s forcing the questions as opposed to just letting the interview flow like this moderator. Letting the interview naturally flow I think makes for a better discussion which in turn allows the viewer to learn more about the people on the panel, in my opinion.

Are you kidding? She wasn't good at all, she wouldn't direct the questions in the right way so other people could be a part of the conversation, so the same actors just started bursting questions at each other all the time, it got very annoying after a while. She should be able to control the situation but she just stood there. She was very unprepared! But I agree with you though, that british guy is the worst.

That´s not true. The H.R. guy doesn´t cuts off the people speaking, he asks interesting questions & he knows when to shut up. You should review the roundtables again.

I’m sure they enjoyed this interview a lot themselves. It’s not often that you get the chance to sit with a group of actors who are in different phases of their lives and to exchange perspectives. And it was so obvious that they were curious about each others’ processes, opinions and approaches. We really need more interviews like this!

The interviewer also did fantastic in letting them talk without interjecting and then only interjecting to pinball the discussion in another way. It flowed very naturally

This was very enjoyable and I want to acknowledge Mr David from stranger things because he gave credit to the queen who played Lady M in the 90s. Talk about impact that he still remembers and gave her flowers for her performance. Now that turned into a movie will be her first Oscar and if Ryan actually saw this then his first Oscar too. Netflix let’s get this going because she already working with Millie Bobby brown so this would be a full circle moment.

    1) *Criss, just for the record :), 2) Being down to earth doesn't mean being shy. I don't think he would ever claim to be shy or particularly modest haha, but he definitely does not come across as full of himself either- he's a talker, for sure, but virtually everyone who's met and/or worked with him has spoken to how warm, friendly, and nice he is. 3) No, he really did not take over the conversation. David Harbour and Maggie Gyllenhaal spoke just as much, if not more. So not sure where people seem to be getting this idea that Darren soooo dominated the conversation. Heck, he didn't even really initiate too much of it- for the most part he just answered the questions he was asked!

Being a talker doesn't automatically make someone arrogant. As someone who's been following Darren's career for many years now, he's never come across as anything but a sweetheart who's extremely appreciative of everything he's been able to do :) And I do not find him even remotely dull (he maybe seemed a little bit tired in this interview haha, but that's about it), but I suppose that's more a matter of personal opinion. Agreed especially about Mandy and Maggie, though! And yes, I do wish JGroff had spoken more as well- I love him

Meh, we live in too much of a sound bite-heavy entertainment landscape as it is. I love that Darren really delves into his answers and takes his time talking about things :) He's talked about the fact that he has a certain amount of fear of being misunderstood, so occasionally he will end up rambling a little in an effort to make sure his points are fully understood, but it's never come across as arrogance to me. He always seems extremely engaged with those he's talking to and interested in what they have to say- he's just on the longer-winded side in his answers, and that's not a particularly bad thing in my book!
