The divorce of Scripture from the OT attempted by many is due to many desiring a Jesus separated from the OT God. The Old Testament is beautiful when you see everything from the stories to the law to the Psalms and songs through the love of God in Jesus Christ. To understand that God is love and that He truly doesn’t find pleasure in the death of the wicked and when He cleansed the Earth in Noah’s time it was a kindness to keep more generations from hopelessness and in Egypt He gave Pharaoh every chance to humble himself before He took His people to take possession of their promises and wiped out nations because of their wickedness that was going no where good while still saving a few out of them.

When Jesus answered what the greatest commandment is, where did he quote from? When Jesus was asked, are you the one the Jews have been waiting for, where would one get the context for that? When Jesus was transfigured, why was Moses and Elijah present? When Jesus died on the cross, where did this mission start and why did it start? God bless you all brothers and sisters and have a blessed day.

Not surprising that Andy would turn out this way. The Old Testament had plenty of stories of ungodly kings who descended from godly kings. The story of King Manasseh is told in 2 Kings 21:1-18 and 2 Chronicles 32 and 33, and he is also mentioned briefly in Jeremiah 15:4. Manasseh was king of the southern kingdom of Judah and the son of the godly king Hezekiah. Hezekiah had undertaken reforms in Judah to rid the land of idolatry. Manasseh, a wicked king, reversed these reforms and did much worse.

@@Mojo32what are you talking about? I have not accused anyone of anything that requires a burden of proof. I simply said the accusations made against Andy in terms of his "unhitched from the OT" statement requires someone to listen to what he said in the context of his series of sermons and the subsequent explanations. That did not happen with Lawson and multitudes of others on the thread who joined in and made even more severe accusations against Andy (including your accusation of heresy). I simply asked for clear examples of each - evidence Andy actually meant what Lawson is accusing him of (burden of proof is on Lawson to show Andy meant what Lawson is saying) & more importantly - evidence Andy is an actual heretic based on examples of his heretical teachings. With the "countless Bible believers" (which I am also a reformed Bible believer by the say), it should be simple to provide this evidence. You don't seem to be able to provide it ... which takes us back to "countless" amount of biblical evidence we do have that warns against speaking falsely against believers. Since there are so many examples of people calling out Andy's "heretical teachings" with biblical evidence (which not even Lawson does in the video), it should be simple for you to provide clear examples. Otherwise I will simply take your words for what they appear to be - accusation without substance. We can do better.

I remember something I learned many years ago as a very young man in a Bible believing church in Arizona: the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. While living in Atlanta I lived much closer to Andy Stanley's church but drove into Dunwoody regularly to hear his father, Charles Stanley, at his. All those years in Atlanta I never attended North Point Community. I'd go to Perimeter Church, a mega-Presbyterian Church of America-church pastored then by Randy Pope, before I'd spend a morning listening to Andy Stanley. Bottom line: Unlike the old hardware commercials, THIS Stanley won't help you do things right.

I can’t speak for other districts, but it is misleading to say that the entire C&MA requires “staff” to read Andy Stanley as a curriculum requirement. BTW, I wouldn’t touch an Andy Stanley book with a 10 foot pole, and neither would our C&MA Ordination Council!

@@robertgates1837 interesting (and I agree with that last statement). Does your district use something called the LEAD program? Because that is what has his book in it. I would have to look up which one, I don't remember. Edit: It is called "Communicating For A Change" I started finding out all this stuff out recently. I am genuinely terrified for the direction that (at least part of) the denomination is going.

Use the media to share the Gospel not to cause debate or division. The devil love it when believers destroy each other. Want to confront the truth to a brother who may be wrong? go to that person and gently instruct him or her between the two of you. Remember we all were once ignorant in the Bible. Bible school shouldn’t make us big headed but give us a bigger heart to speak the truth in love.

People like Andy Stanley need someone with common sense and more wisdom to help them when they go astray. And boy has he lost his way. Sad. I listen to his father regularly and feel sorry that his son is so messed up.

It truly is sad when one sees a minister's son turn apostate. Although we should not be surprised. How many times do we actually see that take place with the son's of the different Kings of Israel and Judah, throughout the Old Testament, nonetheless. Maybe that's why Andy wants to discard it. The O.T. provides illustrations, in spades of what Andy, himself is: an apostate, false prophet. May God have mercy upon him and grant him repentance.

Ngl, Andy was/is my fav pastor because he lead me towards Christ again and reignited my faith. However, I do disagree with him on a few issues, which should be allowed imo. He does make very good life altering sermons avout how to ebtter your life, and his view of the Bible is (imo) correct most of the time. But I understand if people disagree with Andys message. But I am mixed.

In proportion to our abandonment of God are we taken care of by God. Therefore, we must surrender to the Will of God(Inner Christ) if we truly Desire to Discern the Movements of God within.... Remove the False Image of a ME separate and apart from God.... The Christ is the act of Eternal Life living Within its own Infinity, and becomes Demonstrable without through the Receptivity of the Crucifixion of the Self separate and apart from God.... The Christ is ALWAYS ALIVE IN US, but we must be Alive to the Christ.... We are either awake to good and evil(matter/mortality/false sense), or we are Awake to Divine Perfection(Spirit).... When we are not attuned to Divine Consciousness(Eternal Life, Immortality, Truth), by default, we are attuned to Mortal Consciousness(karmic death, mortality, form, evil, etc).... Every communication Unfolding from God within is to make the Spirit/Soul die to the Self, as the Purpose of the Soul is to take Dominion over the mind(the world that must be overcome).... We must separate ourselves from the Mortal Delusion(s) of our Adversary, the World Mind and it's mortal thoughts.... The Christ Within asks one thing of us: Crucify the Belief in a Me Separate and Apart from the Immortal, Omnipresent Spirit of God, as there is no more Glorious a Demonstration than the Transformation from mortal sense to Spiritual Immortality.... The massive wall we have built shielding us from our truth lies in intellectual concepts, also known as Graven Images of Mortality. What is of God is Infinite, and what is not of God is an Appearance of a False Image where Only God is.... Heaven is where you are, and the only place that you can ever be, yet Hell is the place that you insist on experiencing.... We cannot glorify the Father, and glorify the flesh, or the sense of a personal Me separate and apart from God(including the flesh of jesus). Our Consciousness can not be divided in this. Either God is or God isn't the Only Life, and our experience is the Demonstration of either/or, depending on our receptivity to Life(Immortality), or Death(Mortality)... Where there's a Me(human self-love and human self-will) separate and apart from God there is SIN..... SELF...................S INDULGED..........I NUISANCE.........N Me, not God, therefore, ME knows better than God, and because ME knows better, ME MUST suffer the consequences of ME mortal beliefs of a Life Separate and Apart from God!! ME must appear to suffer the mortal consequences of ME IGNORANCE of TRUTH of BEING.... He who Realizes his Life is the Spirit of God has Eternal Life! He then walks through the mortal appearance a Divine Being, in who the 5 Senses of Mortal Lies have been Impersonalized, therefore hold no power over him. His fidelity is to the Immortal Spirit he is, and no longer to the mortal illusion of life not of God.... We Must OVERCOME the Belief that we are not Immortal, Divine Being..... To him that Overcometh the temptation of the tree of good and evil(belief in a mortal existence separate and apart from God)will I give to eat of the Tree of Life(ALL GOD IS/ETERNAL LIFE), which is in the Midst of the Kingdom of God(Omnipresence).... Turn ye from the false images of the mortal world of man with breath in his nostrils, and Dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High!! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD....of the 5 senses of World Mind Belief, knowing they can only lie!! I and the Infinite are One.... We are not a Christian until we know Christ(Infinite Perfect Spirit) is our Identity....!!!

If you believe in the Father, Son & Holy Spirit triune Godhead then who was it that instructed Moses and the prophets? Was not Jesus there speaking? What scripture did Jesus use during his earthly ministry? What scripture did the first century church have? What scripture did the Bereans use? What scripture did Paul tell Timothy is good for everything the man of God needs? What scripture did the apostles use to prove Jesus was the Messiah? The Old testament is not just a nice thing to have. It is the scriptures.

I have to wonder if his dad Charles died of a broken heart. Charles was such a great Bible teacher. How can you have a father like that and hold such blasphemous beliefs ? When you're dad is a pastor, you need to do some soul searching and don't automatically assume that you should follow in his footsteps. Andy admitted at one point, that he did NOT believe the Bible. As heartbreaking as that is, the Lord honors those who tell the truth. HE can change the heart of an unbeliever who is genuinely seeking answers but a hypocrite is stradling the fence and that person needs to be truthful with himself and then seek forgiveness from Jesus
