Thanks so much to Andy Shauf for coming around a second time this year. I saw him myself live couple days ago in Liège, and in May in Antwerp. I wasn't sure what to expect exactly from a solo show, as I really like the instrumentation with a band, and the perfection in bringing together the tones from all instruments in a whole score. But it seems that Andy puts now so much love for detail in his own guitar play and his singing that he easily and completely distracts from the absence of a band. In fact, the concert was over so quickly that I could not believe it, every note was a celebration :-) Especially the quieter pieces work best, in my feeling. Here in Reykjavík he had to reduce the set somewhat and made a very nice selection of the best pieces, to my mind only the Paradise Cinema was missed. In the beginning I was so amazed by the great sound. It captured the richness of the guitar that I remember from Liège, but did not find in my own phone recording. Unfortunately after two pieces the sound guy turns up the reverb on the voice like crazy, and even an echo, and messes it up.
