The most famous songs have 3 chords and can be play with one finger. The reason is has something to do with the human brain preferring certain chords and keys.
Jfc, 10 years already? Been listening to this song so much that I missed the fact that it was released so long ago. Andy's music makes time fly.

This is an insane level of talent. I don’t remember the last time I’ve been this blown away by someone’s playing and songwriting. It’s rare to find some who excels at both like this.
It's absolutely amazing to see Andy play! Some people may think he is emotionless because he doesn't do to much of those weird faces guitar players use to make, but believe me, if you were to play something like this masterpiece, you would be so concentrated that those faces would be almost impossible to make! However... if we look closely, Andy does something pretty astonishing. By looking at him during the entire video instead of the guitar you'll be able to see his jaw muscle tightening with the music. Even his headbang is expressive... This tells me that the guitar player is, not only aware of what he's doing but that he is completely conscious of the song, what is being played and what comes next. This guy is phenomenal!

as you have said, smiling playing face is bullshit, just go and check out instagram boobies guitar girls players , stupid faces and playing awful ... in the other hand playing such a high level virtuoso style must be very focused and concentrated

Bruh, that yes, but also the little 'pick hand' thumb adjustments that he makes here and there, wild!!! The amount of pick control that he speaks on learning from Shawn Lane (snap picking)... He's insane
This guy really knows how to boost my domaninergic system to the highest level.
Amazing that this godlike performance is free to us...
the rhythm riff at 4:05 is the bees knees, one of the best feels i've ever heard out of all metal
His facial expressions rule. Sometimes they say "Maybe, maybe", and others are like "Nice". Sometimes they say "I am totally THE shit." He is correct.

I totally agree with the G3 tour having AJ on it. His style surpasses Steve and Joe though. Kind of like when Guthrie joined them. It was phenomenal how Steve and Joe had total command of the instrument, then Guthrie comes out and it's like God came to play. At 45yo, it's amazing to me to see how players have progressed, as well as how standards of main stream music have turned to crap.

Agreed!
Not that I ever thought Andy was anything less, but this composition and performance cemented him in my mind as one of the best ever.
The string skipping riff at about 3½ minutes into the song is by far my favorite string skipping warmup/practice ever. Everytime I play it, other guitarists are like WTF? And I point them to this video for like the last 10 years or so.
Breathtaking as usual... but this tapping was totally insane! Never ever heard anything so clean and beautiful. Sick!

Most Englishmen are of Norse descent. That's due to Wallace taking over England. It's where the blue-eyed blonde haired Englishmen come from and most people in England carry the recessive gene for blue eyes and blonde hair. Us norsemen were born with guitars in hand, obviously.

Wenn man Andy spielen sieht dann könnte man denken er macht nur seinen Job. Man sieht keine Leidenschaft beim Spielen ABER wer so spielt liebt was er tut. Absolut fantastische Riffs. Ein Gigant an der Gitarre mit Potential zur Legende!!! I'm in fcking Love with this Song!!!
This guy is so good to watch.
this song touched my heart and my soul, holy shit, that amazing.
2:06 reminds me of the main lick from Building The Church by Steve Vai
That riff at 1:13, gives me the sensation of floating through the clouds collecting coins 🪙
Andy James, you truly are an inspiration.
the melody of this is so fucking beutiful and reminds me of some old stuff Tony Macalpine did...love it.
If that video doesnt put a smile on your face you know its time to take up ukulele.......
Wow! What an amazing performance!
I get the chills every time I view this... Absolute beast on the guitar...
I have been forever changed, as a guitar player and a person. But I am confused and wondering what in the hell those other 67 people were watching.
Did you sold your soul to devil to be able to play like this? 'Cause this is insane!!
This is sick! You are one of the best that ever lived! Long live Andy James!
I could be wrong, but i believe Andy spent most of his time making stuff like this - Lessons, backing tracks and in general spending his talent to earn money directly, without relying on album sales. Regardless, he deserves to be just as well known :)
Genius.
i like more this version than the record one :D!!
Vejo isso fazem 6 anos e sempre me impressiono… é realmente incrível essa pegada
My favorite song from Andy, it's very welcome on my soundsystem for years already. :)

Backup music and the solo itself is f***** awesome
been about a year since i first saw this vid, its still the most impressive piece of shred music ive ever heard by a mile, the licks make me want to throw my guitar out the window while at the same time make me want to practice 10 hours a day, andy your an inspiration o us all!

He is using many effects to create the tone. Drive Pedal, Compression Pedal, Delay Pedal, Reverb, Maybe using very very minimal Chorus aswell, but not enough for us to hear, just enough to effect the EQ. You might want to check out what amp/Pick-ups he is using as that effects the tone aswell. Pedals can be expensive so I use a Line 6 POD 2.0 & Boss GT-8 multi effects processors. I can get most tones by using one or the other. I use an Ibanez PGM for most of my metal stuff. & I use a Fender strat for a more lighter tone. I have put in custom pickups for both guitars to give me better sustain. nothing worse than stock-pickups struggling.

+XDX "i know personal 3 guitarist who are better than any famous guitar player" I actually lol'd. I want whatever you are smoking, my friend, 'cause that statement is just plain retarded. I highly doubt that any of your "personal 3 guitarist " could outplay even someone like Stevie Ray. This is the internet; proof or it did not happen, champ. "to write a song dont make you the best guitar player" so you can actually be the "best guitar player" without writing a single song? Are you even reading what you are posting? How can you be the best when your fanbase is the local Guitar Center or a small group of friends. The best to YOU, maybe, and that would be fair to say. But to just say "best" is moronic. No one single player is the absolute "best". And you should probably listen to LTE before you shit on Petrucci. If you were truly familiar with him, you wouldn't be saying he is a rookie compared to Andy James. Two different playing styles and genres of music. You wouldn't compare Alvin Lee to Johnny Winter. Really you just sound like a jealous, casual guitar player who bought a $700 guitar 15 years ago and never learned past Smoke on the Water chord progressions.
His best track so far. Im impressed by his playing skills. Its good to see he got rid of the hairband he used before to cover up openstring noises.. It shows his technique has reached an even higher level. Excellent work Andy!!

from what i have heard from one of his DVD tutorial video, having blues his primary influence in which the left hand is slanted towards the body and basically where the pinky is rarely used since that finger is actually where the slider is placed, allowed him to play in that particular manner.

Godlike. I've strived for many years to reach your brilliance. Still tryin

Absolutely Amazing!
A year ago I clicked on a vid of him demoing an amp or some product and instantly went on amaazon and bought his last cd. A 3 minute demo for an amp and I was hooked. This guy has the goods and hopefully Satch and whoever puts on G3 tours will give this new up and comer a chance to showcase his skills to the masses.

100% agree. Music isn't just about blasting the audience - tasteful motifs win the day.
