That mindbending solo and then the riff kicking in at 2:30 ... I'm lost for words.
The one thing I just can't understand is why the hell he down-picks the open notes on the higher strings ... guess just because he can because Ithink there's literally no tonal benefit to doing it since they are open and not palm muted 😅 he sure loves to work hard.
SİİİİKTİR GİT AMK
Wonderful and original 🔥
Is not the exactly same, but playing hybrid picking makes this riff easier to play!
Learned to play for the chicks
Been playing this since the first instagram clip, and it's still just as hard
That is nuts.
Tabs when?
Making a guitar music song and naming it Waves is bold
Guthrie is giggling some where.
Ini tidak mudah!
That was half speed!
when you find out he’s monuments guitarist so you go start learning every monuments riff you can😭
Btw on the website this same video of Olly teaching this part of 'Waves' has some audio glitches...
This man is so underrated. I can say my two all time favourites are Paul Gilbert and Olly Steele.
i'm a huge fan, but am i the only person who really doesn't like this riff? something about it just doesn't feel right. it's like it hits the same note way too many times. the song almost slurs between phrases as if it's drunk, and feels far too busy when paired with the vocals in the verse.
The hardest part is that each time I hit the 4th string, the 3rd string is hit too.
Love it. I did a song like this one!! And i love Synthwave
Greg Howe will be impressed

His middle finger looks bent.
This poor kid. His space craft failed and now he can't get back to the planet he came from. He's got to make it here on Earth where no one understands how he does what he does. And he was overheard asking, "Guthrie who?"
too freaking good
Outstanding, man. Damn
Fuukkk!!!!
เป็นที่น่าไว้ใจ มีมาตรฐาน มืออาชีพชื่่นชมครับ
Awesome!! 😮
god damn i didn't know belted out licks like that, fuck ya!
Real ones remember when he first posted this riff on instagram in January 2021
My issue is getting the technique as a whole to match the dynamics of the pick. So essentially as soon as I begin tapping in the solo it is quieter than the rest of the solo
Super :)
Troppe note 😢
Guthrie is easily my favorite instrumental guitarist to listen too. That said, are we all going to quietly pretend that the backing track isn't "Who's That Lady"?😆
I cannot believe that I discovered him just now !!!!!!!!!!!!! I love his music I am a guitar lover, not a player , but love guitar for the last 50 years . From Jeff Beck, Al di Meola, Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, Frank Gambale, Allan Hodsworth, Shaw Lane , Neal Schon etc... And my all time favourite Andrew Latimer. I am looking forward to listening to more of his
🙂🙂🙂👏👏👏👏💐
Im glad ive found this again
If perfection was a music it would be this one
When it makes you wanna cry, you know you are speaking the feelings language when the guitar, aka maximum level possible way above just technique and complications. Impressive.
Super mélodique et très technique. Super propre. Me fait un peu penser style Pascal Vigné
You might be able to tap, but can you tap clean? This basic three note pattern on the G and D string is something you may well use in solos. But isolating it like this makes you focus on your timing, your accuracy and allows you to experiment with HOW you tap. Rich releases" his finger like this to make sure there is no extra noise. It's a simple exercise, from day 4 of 21-Day Fix: Tapping, and it's part of a process that takes YOU from basic lines to full on solos. Check it out at JTC Guitar dot com
Absolutely insane
