Andy Hunter solo on Afro Blue w/ Mambísimo Big Band
How lyrical and yet virtouse can you play... Andy Hunter did it once again, this time on a exquisite "Afro Blue" arrangement by Michael Mossman for the @mambisimobigband1017 first studio album.

Note: I wanted to transcribe this asap but somebody else was even faster than the release of the album and sent it over to Andy, who proofread it and then I did mainly lay out stuff and video editing. The original transcription was done by Marcus Pohlen.

If he's not on WDR Big Band duty, Andy is a featured soloist in the Mambisimo Big Band of which I'm also a part (Jorre here) on alto sax. We recorded a full album which was released yesterday and Andy played an outrageous solo as always on that... What a combination of silk and lyrical lines with added virtuose spices. He sounds like the trombone Stan Getz, gorgeous sound. This was a solo on "Afro Blue" arranged by Michael Mossman for the band, which was an incredible piece to play. This arrangement has everything; the essence of the simple melody with beautiful spanish lyrics, reharms, solo's like this one of Andy (and I have my go to), incredible soli part and the theme out sounds a bit like Dirty Loops gone latin imo.
