Andy Gibb - I Just Want To Be Your Everything (Live 1977)
Музыка
Once the Bee Gees experienced a career revival with the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 1977, the Gibb brothers' younger sibling Andy began his own solo career. Following his brothers' disco style, Andy Gibb's first three singles ("I Just Want to Be Your Everything," "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water," and "Shadow Dancing") all hit number one. Three more consecutive Top Ten hits followed, cementing his overnight sensation status. Despite the number four "Desire," Gibb's streak of Top Ten hits began to slip in 1980; the following year he had his last Top 40 hit, "Me (Without You)." After a brief stint as the host of Solid Gold, Gibb turned to acting, where he failed to replicate the enormous success of his recording career. He developed a massive cocaine addiction, which led to his death in 1988 from an inflammatory heart virus. He was 30 years old. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

One of my favorite songs. Brings back memories of me (as a 13 yr old) and my family traveling to Houston , Tx in our new Oldsmobile. Every city & state along I-10 we passed through were playing this song. While in Houston, we heard on radio that Elvis had died. That was Aug. 16, 1977.

@@jimmorrison3756 I agree. Seems Andy was using only intermittantly, but never got entirely clean. He was always well spoken, well dressed, overly polite and patient with stupid TV interviewers, and participated in so many TV shows, without showing any typical signs of cocaine addiction, as described by the Betty Ford Clinic. Sooner or later one should have noticed signs, but I saw NONE. From Punky Brewster in September 1984, Soleil Frye Moon remembered still 35 yrs later, how everyone on the set was in love with Andy, esp the children. She could still sense the smell of his skin! I admire the way he fought until the end, doing his best to eek out a living on the night club circuit. I would never call him an addict, to me he was a wonderful, tender and troubled soul, worthy of all our respect and compassion.

It was the last decade without cable TV, VCRs, DVD players, video games, cell phones, or home computers. The end of an era; the only major neworks on TV were ABC, CBS, and NBC; they ruled everything you watched on television. If 'Happy Days', 'The Waltons', or 'The Carol Burnett Show' was on TV, that's what you watched, no questions asked. You'll never see a time like that again in America.
