You could set a custom wallpaper and a custom lock screen, but not use just one image for both. It's like an anti-feature. Also you could move app icons… but they would just fill into the screen left-to-right top-to-bottom. So you could put them in any order but not arbitrary positions on the screen.

HTC was a king back in that time. I had Hero, Sensation, One s, One… they were really not like others. Something similar was with Samsung up to SGS8. Too bad they refused to put really interesting innovations to their phones. What a good time it was.. now I’m texting this comment from my IPhone with a little nostalgia:)

…Designed by Apple no less. They helped design USB-C, but it wasn't going to be ready in time for their new generation of devices at the time, and they really didn't want to continue using their giant old terrible 30-pin connector… so they made Lightning as a quick stand-in. This generated a massive wave of e-waste as all of the old 30-pin cables and peripherals were obsoleted. The EU chewed them out over it, IIRC. They obviously weren't keen to turn around and do it again a couple years later. By the time they were starting to consider switching to USB-C, they were already tossing around the idea of going portless. Nothing decided on but they were experimenting. When that went nowhere, *that's* when they should've made the switch… but instead they just wanted to hold onto their closed standard. On one hand I can't really blame them, because USB-C( especially for charging) is horribly under-standardized. You can plug in a seemingly normal cable and fry your phone if you're unlucky. But also Apple just want to make more money off of Lightning, so they get no pity from me.

Not surprised... Most iPhone users struggle hooking up a printer...

To be honest printing from an apple device ist not a struggle. Never had issues with my I phone or IPad. Printing from Windows or Android is sometimes a pain. To clearify I use all systems. And I think it’s all right to have a good laught because of the „New“ IOS features.

Thats actually sad how a company can make you thinking that you get something new, which is literally 10 years old.

I’m still using my iPhone 7 that I bought back in 2019 and it’s still running on IOS 12. No issues whatsoever. You Apple haters need to instill some more logic in your brains.

Apple after doing the same thing android did over a decade ago: "okay that'll be 1000$, phone sold separately."

I remember iPhone users being excited about the flashlight. You know, the thing where you just push a button and the LED camera flash just stays on? That someone made an app for in like, 2007? That android added as a basic feature with no fanfare within like two years? I remember on my first smartphone in 2008 I downloaded a flashlight app that even came with variable brightness and programmable and built in flash patterns and a strobe with a speed slider. Actually it now occurs to me, it would be a good safety feature to be able to trigger the flashlight to flash SOS.

That’s why they are able to sell them at lower prices. Learn your phones before you start an argument uninformed. Are flagships overpriced? Yes, but they are not still not comparable to a $200 phone including Iphone or a top tier Android.

I recently was asked to set a custom ringtone from an elderly lady whose son had gifted her an iPhone (she had been using android), a clip of a local song, not one you can buy on the ringtone store. It took two hours, a computer running itunes and conversion software, because ringtones need to be in an special format and must be clipped to 40 seconds or less. There's also no way to do this from the phone itself, you can use websites to clip and convert the file (beware both I tried create invalid files which do not work properly), but you can't set them as a ringtone from the phone itself, it has to be done from iTunes to place them in the blessed ringtone folder or something. Meanwhile on Android I can just grab any random mp3

@@Ejadopatra My honest opinion, as a person who has a heavy Apple bias due to a family member working for the company, is that they're just phones. There are plenty of reasons to prefer Androids and there are plenty of reasons to prefer iPhones, it really just comes down to personal preference. One is not better than the other. I don't think that I'm in any position to make a fair comparison between the two since I haven't used an Android before. And also, I hate macOS. Something about the software really bugs me. PCs are far better for what I need them for, but Macs aren't meant to accomplish the same things PCs accomplish

My oldest Android phone is a ZTE Atlas W (2012) with v2.3.5, and of course you can move icons. It feels like it was always possible on Android.

I could do all of these things on my old Galaxy Note 10, and that had a stylus in it too.

I can sometimes by accident split an app to the bottom of the screen. But I've never figured out the purpose of that feature and it's definitely not having 2 apps running simultaneously. Waiting for an Android with the same video autofocus of the iPhones and I'm waving byebye to apple.

I remember the OG days of the early modern smartphone market. Back then, Apple fanboys were saying “it’s so dumb to want a screen bigger than 3.5 inches.” This was so prevalent that I encountered it with multiple people in real life, not just anonymous dolts on the internet.

Same. My wife is jealous of how Dex works on my Galaxy. She struggles to get things to work properly on her iPhone when connecting to an external monitor. She'll be switching to Galaxy soon, and I refuse to go back to iPhone. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze

If you only use it for those things when you can simply buy a camera and a cheap cell phone for social networks, We mock ourselves because you are not very good at managing your money.

My first fully touch screen smartphone was an Xperia E4g I got in 2015. It was the best of the cheap phones that came with LTE, and it was more than twice as capable as an iPhone for 1/4th the price.

Does anyone remember when the iPad first came out? It didn't even have a usb connection. Huge, glaring oversight. It was basically just an expensive wifi enabled paperweight. People still bought them, though.

I had a Motorola Moto X (first gen) like 10 years ago and a lot of "new" features that iphone is proposing, I remember I had them back in android 4.0 or 5.0 Not an ad or anything, but to me, the best SmartPhones I've had are Motorola. I also used it for nearly 12-13 years, but recently switched to using 12 customizable gestures for my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. My girlfriend has an iPhone 15 Pro and she actually likes the back button on Android. It will be nice if "Apple" copies this particular feature from Android and presents it as a "revolution" or "innovation" for the upcoming iPhones. :)

I use an iPhone, I came from android. I use iPhone because my wife is in the cult and so are most of my friends and they can’t stand to see a green text bubble. I am constantly amazed at how many things you cannot do on an iPhone that were standard on android from day one. iPhone has the Messages app. Literally everything else is a joke compared to what you can do with an android phone. I’m not even talking like highly technical stuff, I’m talking about like importing music, importing photos, using your own music or sounds as ringtones or text tones . The fact that you have to use iTunes to get pictures from your computer onto your iPhone is outrageous. But what’s more outrageous is once the photos are on your iPhone, you cannot delete them from your iPhone, you have to edit the folder containing the pictures on your PC and then re-sync to your iPhone. WTF

Selling 5 year old bread as new flavor is something apple would at this point.
