Android: How Google Conquered the Smartphone Industry

Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android's user interface is mainly based on direct manipulation, using touch gestures that loosely correspond to real-world actions, such as swiping, tapping and pinching, to manipulate on-screen objects, along with a virtual keyboard for text input. In addition to touchscreen devices, Google has further developed Android TV for televisions, Android Auto for cars, and Android Wear for wrist watches, each with a specialized user interface. Variants of Android are also used on game consoles, digital cameras, PCs and other electronics.
Initially developed by Android Inc., which Google bought in 2005, Android was unveiled in 2007, along with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance - a consortium of hardware, software, and telecommunication companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices. Beginning with the first commercial Android device in September 2008, the operating system has gone through multiple major releases, with the current version being 8.0 "Oreo", released in August 2017. Android applications ("apps") can be downloaded from the Google Play store, which features over 2.7 million apps as of February 2017. Android has been the best-selling OS on tablets since 2013, and runs on the vast majority of smartphones. As of May 2017, Android has two billion monthly active users, and it has the largest installed base of any operating system.

This isn't related to the video but if you fry large pieces of shrimp (like 16-20 per pound) it's best to stick with a normal panko coating. Since warping them in woton wrappers and coating in tempura just doesn't give the same taste and texture. This stands true even with a sauce. Though funny enough it's best to just use a squirt of fresh lemon juice or some clarified butter. Don't know why i'm putting this here, but hey someone might find a cooking tip interesting.

I like Apple and Android. I think Android is more popular because the user can change it to preference. I like Apple because of the sheer optimization of the power. The 7s plus is still more powerful than the s8 even if the stats say otherwise (look up the video by EverythingApplePro). I love both of them, and I could easily use either one in everyday use. The Apple community is known for liking the products no matter what, and I don’t think that’s fair to Android. But please Android community, stop hating on the “iSheep” you’re becoming like them.

One thing the video did not mention that helps the popularity of Android phones over iPhones, is that Apple is notorious for making hardware repairs impossible or impractically expensive. Apple’s customer service in regard to repair of any devices is abysmal. Often, they won’t even allow their own authorized repair centers have the parts or make the repairs. Apple tries to force the sale of a new device this way, but the public is getting wise to this and pushing back.

Android has the volume but none of the profits, unless you are a vertically integrated company like Samsung. Hope you enjoy feeding all your personal information to Google, and then having to buy another phone after a year since your manufacturer and carrier never support OS updates :-)

You do know Android is open source, meaning any attempt at data mining would be picked up in the source code nearly instantly by any oem/modder compiling Android for there phones iOS however is not, meaning you don't know if Apple is or isn't mining data from you as we speak since there platform is closed source. You're just going to have to "trust" Apple not to...so do you?
