Ah, grip fighting. Probably the most underrated aspect of Jiu Jitsu. The person that wins the gripping exchanges is the most likely to win the whole match. Thanks for your great videos Wiltse! I hope we can invite you to Amsterdam soon; DODO Jiu Jitsu is a very small academy, but we're super dedicated and very active in the competition scene. Lots of love from all of us training in living rooms and gardens right now.

This is so good, yet so informal, yet so well filmed. I feel like I'm actually in a class, and I can't say that about really any other instructional videos. The flow of information is so continuous and lean. There's no filler information, yet there's a lot being said. To top things off, he's genuine.

I LOVE all the details in these videos! I always struggle to break grips because I am usually rolling with bigger people with stronger hands. I will be drilling these in my next session 🙂

This is terrific and extremely important at every belt level. The earlier you start grip fighting, the better! Although lately I’m having trouble dealing with lapel guards. For example, if my opponent grabs the bottom of my lapel, I usually try to negate that grip by moving with them and removing the tension, or at least attempting to remove the tension so the offense is minimized. Wondering if you have an approach to dealing with lapel guard grips if the grip is successful. Thanks for all the content Andrew!

Maybe go easier not he gripping if your not training to be a high level athlete no need to kill your hands. But if your going to keep it going just make sure you strech out your hands before and after class. maybe soak your hands in epson salt after class . Or just let go when someone is about to rip your grip and regrip after or go to some other grip.
