Mr. Tyson, I am a pianist and I adore your playing. I hope you come back to the NY/NJ area soon and play the Rachmaninov 2nd Concerto concert that was canceled because of Covid. P.S. The way you play the final bars here of the Mozart is so marvelous, just right so the final three chords come as the big and contrasting finish!

Allegro vivace assai means "very fast", but does it include "so schnell wie möglich"? In my taste the third movement was a little too fast. Many a sentence was not brought home properly. Other than that I enjoyed the concert very much - the facial expressions of the soloist included ❤

But it's all rather tentative, isn't it? (And there's an unfortunate fumble at 3.05.) Where's the opera house? Where are life and love and laughter? I don't hear them here.

Joseph Laredo I agree. It's beautifully played but indeed does seem timid and rather a bit mechanic. I feel like this is a problem with many performances of Mozart pieces. Everyone (even pianists of Andras Schiff's caliber) seems to be so concerned and obsessed with playing Mozart "properly" it seems like a lot of times the musicality and spontaneity of the music gets lost.

I have to say as a pianist that he played this extremely well. Mozarts music is not easy to play because it requires such precision and timing and a delicate touch, so what he fumbled at 3 mins, Christ everyone is obsessed with perfection but he's human, to pick it back up like he did was immense, it's so easy to lose yourself when playing to a crowd of people, especially when they're classical enthusiasts.

The performance is lovely, but why is the pianist reacting to his playing by making such awful facial expressions and swaying back and forth? This only draws attention to HIMSELF, and is DISTRACTING!!!

it's called performance, if that's what you want just listen to it audio wise. I prefer the way he does it, it makes seem more live, more real and alive.

@@YT-tx9ov No, it's not called "performance," it's called "mugging." You must detest the performances of Grigory Ginzburg, Benno Moiseiwitsch, Sviatoslav Richter, Vladimir Horowitz, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Artur Rubinstein, and many other of the greatest pianists of all time because they sit perfectly still and let the music flow through them.
