    @@ChuckTay23 Absolute nonsense. The 76ers during the Iverson years suffered the same fate as Embiid's teams today. The team made many terrible draft choices and therefore had to fill out the roster with higher priced vets who pushed the spending up against the salary cap without providing enough talent. In three consecutive years after Iverson's rookie season Philly did the following - picked Van Horne instead of McGrady, picked Hughes instead of Nowitzki or Pierce, picked MacCulloch instead of Ginobli. You can't win titles if you can't draft. Igoudala had the good fortune of playing on a team with three future HOFers who were all being paid much less than they were worth because they were on cheap contracts early in their careers after being drafted. Most people would have never heard of Iggy if the Warriors had not drafted well.

    Of all the great players to never win a chip, Iverson did quite a bit with the least amount of offence surrounding him. Melo was the only other superstar caliber player he ever played with. And I don’t think Iverson played with ANY all stars in their prime. He’s the smallest lethal weapon in the history of the game. Until a few years ago, I think he was top 3 all time in career scoring average. He’s truly 1 of 1.

    Like folks hear the story, but they still dont get what they are saying. Think about how much time Kobie spent in the practice facility to perfect his game. At all kinds of hours of the night and days of week. Think about how much Curry says he shots in the practice facility on his shot. He lives in the facility. Now take all that away from both of those players...does their game evolve as much as it did with that type of access. Melo told you that once AI got access to an actual facility just for themselves, AI shooting % went up. Its absolutely crazy that he took a team to the NBA finals, and they couldn't really get extra work in. It's amazing that he had the career he did when not actually having the resources the other great players had.

  • @TrevorEMayo

    @TrevorEMayo

    36 минут бұрын

    All of that is totally ridiculous. Iverson's shooting percentage went up because in Denver he was actually playing with other players the opponents had to guard. His percentages were down in Philly because for most of his time there he was playing with no one who could create their own shot (Iggy was one of those offensively deficient players), and so AI forced shots. A lot of bad shots.

  • @TrevorEMayo

    The Sixers practice facility predicament was the product of the ownership situation. Up until the mid 90s the Flyers and the Sixers were separately owned. Then a massive deal was struck where Comcast bought both clubs and placed the Flyers owner in charge of both franchises. The Sixers were always a lower priority for the ex-Flyers owner who was now in charge. The basketball team did not get it's own practice facility till new owners bought the Sixers from Comcast.

    Can people now see how Barkley's prime was wasted on the 76ers and why he never won a ring? Harold Katz was the owner then who traded Moses Malone the year after they won a ring and settled into mediocrity...

    *Man let’s stop the cap. Allen was incredible! He was who he was. Even with a state of the art practice facility Allen was still gonna be at Fridays & The Piccadilly late night. Andre was a good role player at best. Never was gonna be a star. Stop fraudin’.*

    Imagine a billionaire owner not buying a practice gym for his NBA team. Do you see how ridiculous the thought of that is?
