Preguntadle a Clemente a ver qué opina, el otro día le escuché una entrevista donde decía que es que Zubizarreta era simplemente el mejor portero en aquel tiempo y CON DIFERENCIA sobre el segundo... a Buyo no lo llevó nunca porque al parecer no le encajaba en el vestuario, o dicho de otra forma, por ser mal bicho. Pero qué sabré yo, Zubizarreta, 6 ligas, Champions, internacional con 4 seleccionadores diferentes... malísimo el tipo, debía de tener un enchufe bárbaro 🤦‍♂️

Buyo forever. He played in a much more advanced and risky position at Real Madrid with Beenhakker long before Cruyff arrived at Barcelona. He had very good footwork. They called him crazy for that. Then it has been the evolution that the rest of goalkeepers have taken. Zubi great keeper but Buyo better, in my opinion.

He was my childhood hero. But, years later, I find him a mediocre keeper. I agree with these friends that Buyo was better, and Arconada was much better than both.

@@ayazdani88 I am a Real Madrid fan, and I liked Buyo a lot, but Zubizarreta was a little bit better: much more sober, less espectacular than Buyo, but his placement in the goal was absolutely superb. And he never lost his nerves as Buyo did many times......Besides, Buyo was a favourite player for Madrid fans, but he was never loved by his teammeates: he had a reputation of a difficult character. Ask all the national coaches why Zubi, not Buyo, was the numer 1 election for goalkeeper of Spain since 1986 to 1998.

@@jonalberdi7447 De hecho fue titular de españa mas de una decada desde 1985 hasta 1998 osea 13 años para mi zubizarreta fue un buen portero estoy seguro que seria mucho mejor recordado si no hubiera cometido el error contra nigeria ese error probablemente fue el detonante de su retiro

He had a pretty bad world cup but actually the whole spanish team didn't impress so so much but De Gea was really awsome in the game against Tottenham and was called The Wall after several crucial saves 👐 he hase been good now for several seasons but we all have our own opinions

Jose Reinas father was a good goalkeeper too, Miguel Reina in 60s and 70s. Had good spells with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and in the spanish national team he served mostly as a backup to Iribar

It was a really great mistake calling Zubi to play in the 1998 World Cup, specially having other great keepers like Cañizares or Molina. Sure, he had a good positioning, but nothing else. At least Buyo was quite agile, despite his positioning. If I can suggest some videos for spanish goalkeepers, I would say Cañizares, Buyo, Arconada, Iribar and of course, Casillas. I would also suggest Zamora, but since he played between the 20s and the 30s, I'm afraid you cannot find videos with him, only photos.

Buyo era más espectacular pero cometía más errores. Zubi iba mejor por arriba,tenía mejor colocación y era más fiable. Es verdad q Buyo era mejor parando penales y jugando con los pies

Y así, queridos futuros porteros, es cómo se puede llegar a portero de élite sin saber tirarse y pareciendo el gordo del patio que se pone en la portería porque no es bueno en ningún otro sitio

La mitad van al muñeco. Portero que no tenía ni siquiera nivel para la Primera División.

Mi bisabuela se levanta más rápido del sofá que Zubi después de una parada...tuvo actuaciones para el olvido con la selección. Menudas generaciones de grandes porteros antes y después de este mediocre. No está ni entre los 50 mejores de la historia.
