I never expected that they would drop both a period joke and "Cool Older Sister is actually the Mum" reveal in a Disney show. I appreciated that they tackled mature topics.

I remember that episode vividly of when Jonah had his frost major one at Cyrus's bar mitzvah. It was one of the first times I had seen what a panic attack looked like on TV. And then a few years later I had my first one and remembered that episode and related a lot to what happened. Truly a wonderful show that showed kids things that were considered "taboo" or "improper" to show kids, and I always appreciated that about it.

The only problem I have when Alex reviews TV shows is that unless it's like Riverdale, where he makes multiple videos throughout the shows run, he has to condense everything into one shorter video. Like, he'll talk about the first episode, then almost immediately skip to the end, meaning he kinda just glosses over everything that happens.

I was not expecting the plot twist that her sister is actually her mom, I was shook 😅 especially since I’ve never thought Disney would do a show about a girl learning she had a teen mom. Compared to their other shows which mostly had laugh tracks, I appreciated that this one didn’t have that. It was refreshing and definitely had that ABC Family type of vibe in the beginning, which made it very different from the rest of Disney Channel shows. One of the best shows from the modern Disney Channel era (late 2010s), especially the first season. Also this is what Girl Meets World could’ve and should’ve been.

I absolutely loved this show so much when it first came out. I was right around the age of "aging out of Disney Channel" when it came out and I felt like it was the first show that I saw on Disney Channel that treated me, an audience member, as a smart individual capable of maturity. It wasn't a dumb show with no substance; it actually taught me things, like what it felt like to have panic attacks when they discussed Jonah and his struggle with them. It talked about serious issues and topics that most Disney shows shied away from and I felt like that was important for me as someone who was around preteen age when it started (so right around the actual ages of the characters). I'm so happy to see that so many others in the comment section loved this show just as much as I did ❤️ I've also actually met Sofia Wylie who played Buffy (she often comes into the place that I work at as a customer) and she's super nice!! I feel like that just makes the show even better in my mind lol

@@reannagordon I believe Hilary had said it was something along the lines of Lizzie’s husband had cheated or at least that’s what the original creator wanted & had written for the new series & Hilary was on board with the concept. Basically an infidelity storyline & Disney made this face 😡 & said no. So they scrapped the whole idea with Terri Minsky (OG creator) stepping down because Disney didn’t want a more mature storyline & Hilary herself saying “No I’m out deuces” because Disney wants a not Sachron but not a serious tone to the show & that’s what Hilary & Terri wanted. They even asked Disney put it on Hulu & they still said no. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Good Luck Charile had an episode that reveals that Bob and Amy Ducan were not really married and they had to get married again to have an actual license. So they basically had their first four kids out of wedlock without realizing it. But the show didn't treat that part as weird. The Amazing World of Gumball also had an episode that implies that Richard and Nicole conceived Gumball out of wedlock and didn't make it werid either.

And now Disney is just mass producing shows and movies with repeated storylines and without enough advertising or too much advertising with bad movies getting loads of publicity and good movies going under the radar. They also have a very deep-rooted goal of undoing all that Walt Disney created because apparently Mulan wasn't impowering enough. Also Disney is being boycotted because they've not considered donating their billions of dollars to a country that is being b*mbed on the same level of Hiroshima and did choose to donate money to a people who's government blew them up and blamed the first country.

i love this show! even though i was a little too old to watch disney channel at that time, i stuck around for it because it was so sweet. and they tried to tackle more serious subjects to the best of their abilities. it always felt realistic, like it's just kids being kids, their reactions to things felt real, the situations they were in also were realistic, i just liked it. and they were really good at introducing a bully/mean person and having them go through a redemption, like they're just kids, they don't know everything. tj and cyrus, forever my favourites, like yes the first gay character, but you give him a love interest that actually likes him back? that is so sweet. and i love that they just had Millicent simmonds right before she hit it big with a quiet place, like she was just an extra in season one because they filmed at her school, but the creator liked her and so she got her to be in a 2 episode arc in season 3 even if at that point she was already getting big with a few movies.

Cyrus being gay was honestly nice to see a character like that actually stick around for more than 8 seconds on a tv show back when this was airing

I really liked this show and I liked how they introduced the gay character. They didn’t make a big fuss over it because at the end of the day, Cyrus being gay didn’t change the bond they already Built with him and who he was as a person.

I mean they, as in Andi and Buffy, don't make a fuss over it. But remember Cyrus being scared, is that a good word, by the realization that he was gay. Because at that point in the show he had a "Girlfriend" and Jonah was "With" Andi. So he was afraid of the social implications. As you said though "Cyrus being gay didn’t change the bond they already".

I’m so glad I watched this show when it came out because it really wasn’t bad and I loved it. I remember the plot twist had me and my sister like “whatt?!??” This show had me waiting for the next ep to come out in anticipation😂

As someone named Jonah Beck I decided to Google myself and was greeted with pictures of Asher Angel so I have been well aware of this show for a while and whenever they said my name in the clip I jumped

I remember loving the theme song for this show so much. It helped me through the decision to not finish college. With the economy and my parents putting a ton of pressure on me and my brothers getting a college education, and realizing how hard I struggled with getting homework done and how miserable and worthless it made me feel, I knew I couldn’t deal with it. But not having a degree makes me really scared for the future. Even now, I look back and wonder if I really made the right decision, and it gets me a bit choked up remembering all those emotions. This theme song was just the song that reminded me how exciting the unknown can be, and that helped me feel relief from that college stress.

The fact that literally when the show started I predicted some actor was gonna get caught in this heinous crime and ruin it for everyone. *sigh* we can never win.
